Welp, nobody ever said moving to Texas would be a vacation. Grab a stiff drink, because Dutton Ranch Season 1 Episode 4 just delivered some major heartbreak for our favorite country couple. The title of the episode is "Start with a Bullet," and it could've been called, "End with a Bullet" because that's what happens. Beth and Rip are put through the ringer, made to face a rancher's worst nightmare. From Montana to Texas, problems seem to follow these two across state lines. Spoilers ahead! So the main story, the sabotaged bull had foot-and-mouth disease and plagued the whole damn herd. What started as a lingering worry last week turns into a full-blown catastrophe. Azul and Zachariah are forced to dig a massive trench with an earth mover and that visual of roughly 100 cows being driven into a pit is nothing short of heartbreaking. I'm no cowgirl but damn. Then Rip being the tough guy that he is, shot each one of the herd, one by freaking one, ending on the healthy brown calf that symbolized he and Beth's fresh start. My girl Beth stands by his side, proving once again that she can stomach the grim realities of ranch life, even when the dirt is covered in quicklime. L-R: J.R. But this Beth and Rip we are talking about, so you know what comes next. They get even. Beth tracks down the fraudulent broker, J.R. Simon, who sold them the infected bull. After discovering the vet records were completely forged, Rip delivers a standard Wheeler beatdown. They torch the broker’s trailer, walking away in slow motion as it explodes behind them, looking like bad ass superheroes. You can take the Duttons out of Montana, you cannot take the ruthless survival instincts out of the Duttons. Meanwhile, I was on pins and needles waiting for Beth to catch a naked Carter in bed with Oreana, the rebellious granddaughter of their rival, Beulah Jackson. I thought she would go crazy, she did issue a stern warning but I guess Carter is old enough to decided who he gets in bed with. Naturally, the plan backfires. Carter sneaks off to take a job with a local named Dwight, and when he returns to find the herd buried, he lashes out at Beth for treating him like a child. Over at the 10 Petal Ranch, Oreana is busy defying her grandmother by smoking joints and trying to steal trucks, though Beulah's henchmen quickly lock her down. A political fundraiser at Fairmont Crest is taking place where Vernon Dupree and Victor Newman reunite as the old friends and powerful allies they have always been. Victor spent years backing Vernon's political campaigns while Vernon turned around and championed legislation that kept Newman Enterprises thriving. These two have history and Clifton Davis already teased that watching him and Eric Braeden share the screen together as two old men is, in his words, a little bit of magic. Sir, we believe you completely. Tying these two worlds together makes perfect sense. This isn't the first crossover however as last year Bryton James brought Devon Hamilton through those gates for the first soap crossover and before that Thorsten Kaye showed up as Ridge Forrester from The Bold and the Beautiful. Executive producer Sheila Ducksworth put it perfectly when she described the crossover as bringing the Newmans and the Abbotts together with the Dupree patriarch and matriarch. The June episodes air on CBS and stream on Paramount+, so there is genuinely no excuse to miss this one. My lawd, the ancestors heard our prayers. Somewhere Aretha Franklin is warming up. Netflix has finally dropped a teaser for the sequel to A Different World and yes friends, the whole crew is returning to Hillman College, which we previously reported. The announcement came Friday during Netflix's Celebration of Black Television at the American Black Film Festival and the internet has not recovered. A Different World, is a household name as is the flagship show, The Cosby Show, to which the series is a spin-off of. If you were born in the late 2000s, here is a quick refersher for you. Denise played by Lisa Bonet, left The Cosby Show to attend Hillman College, thus we get A Different World with iconic characters. We are back in school starting Thursday, September 24, which is 39 years after episode one of the original series. Smart of the new showrunner Felicia Pride, the executive producer, director Debbie Allen and newcomer Maleah Joi Moon who were on hand to unveil the first teaser trailer. During the festival, attendees were introduced to Moon's character Deborah Wayne, Whitley and Dwayne's youngest daughter who is described as a free spirit still figuring out her path at Hillman. She is already our favorite. What's a college freshman without her core group of unique friends? Deborah will be joined by a whole new generation of freshman, described as a first-generation criminal justice major, a five-star athlete carrying the weight of legacy, a psych major who fixes everyone's problems except his own, a church girl finding her own values, and a Ghanaian-Nigerian fashion entrepreneur chasing his vision. This friend group is already giving everything. But Wait — Who's Coming Back? The original squad is suiting up and we simply cannot handle it. Like we said, returning will be Jasmine Guy as Whitley, Kadeem Hardison as Dwayne, Cree Summer as Freddie, Darryl M. Bell as Ron, Charnele Brown as Kimberly, Jenifer Lewis as Dorothy, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Lena. This version is not a carbon copy of the original. The sequel trades the multi-camera sitcom format for a single-camera dramedy, shot without a studio audience. It is described as hopeful, full of heart and unapologetically centered on the richness and complexity of the Black experience at an HBCU. Debbie Allen's fingerprints are all over this thing and that is nothing but good news. A Different World returning on Netflix with the original cast, a fresh new class, and Debbie Allen in the building? The BAU is back, and somebody out there clearly missed Sicarius a little too much. Criminal Minds: Evolution returned to Paramount+ on May 28 with a two-episode Season 19 premiere and the show wasted absolutely no time getting to the drama. The new season drops the team into fresh territory while keeping one very familiar face lurking in the background and introduces a brand new villain who might just be the most unsettling UnSub the series has ever cooked up. Showrunner Erica Messer promised heading into Season 19 that the show would be hitting the reset button in the best possible way. A full year has passed since the events of the Season 18 finale and the BAU has had time to breathe. The premiere episode, titled "Now and Then," uses that time jump wisely. The team feels cool, calm and collected, which makes the moment everything starts unraveling again hit that much harder. The premiere does not spend its runtime drowning in Season 18 mythology, which is a smart move. New viewers to the show can reasonably jump in here without needing a doctoral thesis on Elias Voit's entire backstory. That said, longtime fans get enough connective tissue to make the premiere feel like a worthy continuation rather than a soft reboot wearing a familiar face. The central villain of Season 19 is a new UnSub the team calls The Fan, a copycat killer who has modeled himself entirely after Elias Voit. Precise, calculated, and deeply committed to his obsession, The Fan is not simply mimicking Sicarius for shock value. He is trying to surpass him, and that distinction makes every scene involving this character feel genuinely tense. The premiere does an excellent job establishing The Fan as a credible threat without immediately overplaying his hand. The show gives viewers enough to understand exactly how dangerous this person is while still leaving room for the season to build. It is a difficult balance that the writers pull off cleanly in these opening two hours. Zach Gilford continues to be one of the most compelling reasons to keep watching this show. In Season 19, Voit is attempting something resembling atonement, sitting down for a series of revealing interviews designed to help the BAU understand what made him Sicarius in the first place. It is an uncomfortable watch in the best possible way. Every time the camera sits on Gilford, you are waiting for the mask to slip, and that tension never fully releases. His presence also raises a question the season seems very interested in exploring: can understanding a monster actually help you stop the next one? Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 19 is off to one of its strongest starts in years. The two-episode premiere is confident, propulsive television that respects both the franchise's history and the audience's intelligence. With The Fan shaping up to be a legitimately terrifying presence and Voit's arc adding layers the show has rarely attempted, Season 19 feels like a show that has rediscovered exactly what made it appointment viewing in the first place. Episode 2 of The Chi Season 8, “White Russian,” keeps the drama heavy and the tension even heavier. This episode really showed how much Reg’s return is shaking everybody up, because every time he steps into a room the entire vibe changes. Whether you love him or hate him, Barton Fitzpatrick is absolutely owning this role. SPOILERS AHEAD The episode picks up with the intense aftermath of Jake confronting Reg at Victor’s house. Instead of backing down, Reg decides to turn the situation into a terrifying game of Russian roulette. That scene alone reminded viewers why Reg is one of the most dangerous people in the series. Jake ultimately loses the house and walks away defeated, and honestly it felt sad seeing how powerless he still is when it comes to Reg. He may hate his brother's guts, but it is still his brother at the end of the day. Meanwhile, Emmett and Keisha continue struggling with Devonte after the gun incident. Devonte getting 90 days of court supervision feels like the calm before the storm because everybody knows one wrong move could send him to juvenile detention. I really enjoyed the emotional conversations between Emmett and Darnell in this episode. Their father-son talks feel genuine and have become some of the strongest scenes of the season so far. Victor and Shaad’s storyline also got more interesting. Victor reveals that his old lawyer wanted him to betray Shaad, so now Patience is representing both of them. Patience is quickly becoming one of my favorite side characters because she is smart, calm, and clearly not backing down from Roselyn Perry’s corruption. Fatima returning immediately complicates Victor’s life, especially once her friend brings up Victor’s past with Tiff. Then there is Nuck, who keeps inserting himself deeper into Tiff and Emmett’s family conversations even though viewers know he is hiding huge secrets. Their entire dynamic, keisha included, is always great to see. One of the wildest parts of the episode was seeing Reg casually show up to Jake’s event even after being told he was not welcome. Jake confronting him again only led to another fight but this time Jake got to put him in his place. Reg was already upset about initially being denied entry but being put out by his baby brother pissed him off even more. To be fair though he was in there trying to move them pills and Jake didn't want to get shut down. Reg really is moving like he owns the streets again. The mob storyline also got more dangerous with Smitty joining forces with Nuck and Big Mike returning with hatred for Reg. That reveal added another layer of tension because now it feels like a war is slowly building. Also it's just good seeing mike again after all these years. I love when final seasons bring back OG cast members. Overall, “White Russian” was another strong episode filled with emotional moments, street politics, and character drama. Season 8 has started off intense, messy, and honestly very entertaining.

Westeros is finally burning and it is about time. HBO has officially unleashed the full-length trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3, dropping on June 21. After a massive two-year hiatus, the Targaryen family feud is full on dragon-melting warfare. If you thought the pacing of last season was a little too slow for your taste, this new look at the upcoming episodes will pique your interest my friends. The trailer shows a war of dragons coming to Westeros, as full-scale brutal warfare is unleashed because of the fallout from the Targaryen civil war. The battle lines for the Dance of the Dragons are written in the bloody sand, but the psychological toll is where fans will get excited. The Targaryen’s all have starring roles in the trailer, and none of them look like they are having a particularly good time. Rhaenyra is left dealing with a kingdom turned into a graveyard, while Alicent looks thoroughly miserable, openly lamenting the monstrous weight of the crown. Meanwhile, the family infighting reaches a boiling point as Aegon II plots a dark path forward, directly vowing to kill his brother, Aemond. Family dinners at the Red Keep are officially a thing of the past. If political backstabbing is the appetizer, the aerial destruction is the main course. The season opens with the Battle of the Gullet, which showrunner Ryan Condal has called “arguably the craziest episode of television ever made.” The trailer showcases the massive scale of this clash, featuring burning ships and midnight dragon fights that look remarkably sharp. Are the Targaryens completely beyond saving? Absolutely. Will it make for fantastic television? Without a doubt. The world did not ask for another Sherlock Holmes spin-off, but television executives are giving us one anyway. Global studio Fremantle and production company Archery Pictures just announced a brand new crime drama series with the working title Moriarty. The upcoming show focuses entirely on the legendary detective's greatest enemy. This time, the bad guy takes center stage to run his empire and help the police at the exact same time. The End of Watson and Hollywood's Holmes Obsession Hollywood has a massive obsession with the Sherlock lore that simply refuses to die. Television networks constantly rehash Arthur Conan Doyle's 100-year-old characters to find an easy hit. Sometimes, that obsession blows up in their faces. CBS recently tried to flip the script with its medical mystery show Watson, starring Morris Chestnut. The network officially canceled Watson after just two seasons due to low ratings. Apparently, watching a doctor solve rare diseases while crying over Sherlock's fake death was not what people wanted. A New Twist on the Classic Villain Instead of learning a lesson from Watson, producers are sprinting straight back to the Baker Street well. The new Moriarty series turns the iconic villain into a contemporary university professor. By day, James Moriarty teaches criminal psychology at Durham University. By night, he runs a massive criminal network across the North of England. The actual plot of the show sounds wild. A rival gang starts attacking Moriarty’s underground business. To fight back, the criminal mastermind decides to join the local police force as a consultant. He plans to use the law to crush his enemies while keeping his true identity a secret. He gets paired with a tough investigator named Detective Imogen Burrows. The main drama comes from Moriarty trying to run his empire while his new partner grows suspicious of him. Who is Making the Show? Writers Chris Cornwell, known for A Discovery of Witches, and Oliver Lansley, known for Where's Wanda?, are currently writing the scripts. Producers promise a dark, playful dive into the mind of a villain, though the project is still in early development. No actors are cast yet, and no streaming network has bought the show. The idea of a villain using the police to save his own criminal empire is fun, but everything depends on the casting. If the creators find the next great television villain, this could actually work.
