Apparently murder, secrets, and a seaside town filled with suspiciously attractive people is exactly what viewers wanted this spring because You’re Killing Me is officially coming back for season two. And honestly? Acorn TV would have been insane not to renew it.

The streamer announced during ATX Television Festival in Austin that the Brooke Shields-led mystery series has been renewed for another six-episode season after becoming Acorn TV’s biggest launch ever in both subscriber acquisition and viewership. That’s not a modest little streaming win tucked into a press release somewhere. That’s a full-on breakout success for a platform that knows its audience loves cozy murder mysteries almost as much as they love judging fictional small towns with impossibly high homicide rates.

Season one premiered on May 18 and quickly found its footing thanks to a combination of slick mystery plotting, sharp humor, and Brooke Shields fully understanding the assignment. Shields stars as bestselling novelist Allie, who teams up with aspiring writer and podcaster Andi, played by Sullivan’s Crossing star Amalia Williamson, to investigate the murder of a close friend in the picturesque Maine town of Founder’s Cove. Naturally, the town is crawling with secrets because no television mystery has ever allowed a peaceful coastal community to simply mind its business.

Tom Cavanagh rounds out the central trio as Detective Jack, a former big-city cop trying to survive small-town eccentricities while untangling a growing list of suspects. Watching him attempt to adjust to Founder’s Cove’s particular brand of weirdness has become one of the show’s sneaky highlights.

The series works because it knows exactly what kind of show it wants to be. You’re Killing Me never disappears into self-serious prestige-drama territory, but it also doesn’t treat the mystery like an afterthought. The balance between comedy, suspense, and character dynamics gives the show an easy bingeability that Acorn TV viewers clearly responded to immediately.

And then there’s Brooke Shields, who looks like she’s having the time of her life playing Allie. Her performance gives the series its spark. She brings warmth, dry wit, and just enough exasperation to make Allie feel believable even while surrounded by increasingly questionable townspeople and murder investigations that seem to multiply every week.

Robin Bernheim, known for projects including When Calls the Heart, Mystery 101, and Netflix’s Princess Switch films, created the series and clearly understands how to build comfort television without making it feel stale. There’s a glossy charm to You’re Killing Me, but underneath that polished surface is a genuinely entertaining whodunit that keeps the audience invested.

Acorn TV confirming that season two will return to Founder’s Cove for another six episodes feels like the easiest renewal decision made all year. The show has already carved out a loyal fanbase, and with new episodes of season one still rolling out through June 22, the momentum only seems to be growing.

At this point, Founder’s Cove may need less tourism and more licensed detectives, but for viewers, that’s part of the appeal. You’re Killing Me delivers exactly what audiences want from a summer mystery series: compelling twists, charming performances, suspicious neighbors, and enough side-eye-worthy behavior to fuel endless theories between episodes.

Season one is currently streaming on Acorn TV, with new episodes dropping every Monday. Season two heads into production later this year. So yes, the bodies will continue piling up in Founder’s Cove. Good news for viewers. Terrible news for the local property values.
