Yellowstone’s Jefferson White Will Reprise Jimmy Hurdstrom on ‘Marshals

Kayce Dutton is getting another familiar face from his Yellowstone days.

Jefferson White is officially joining Season 2 of CBS' Marshals in a recurring role, reprising his fan-favorite role as Jimmy Hurdstrom. The casting brings another piece of the Yellowstone universe into the Luke Grimes-led series as it prepares to return this fall. And after everything Jimmy went through on Yellowstone, we're very curious about what could possibly bring him back into Kayce's orbit.

White played Jimmy throughout Yellowstone, beginning as a troubled young man given a second chance at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Over the course of the series, Jimmy transformed into a much more confident cowboy, with his journey eventually taking him to Texas and the Four Sixes Ranch. Now, that journey is taking another turn.

“I’m thrilled to dive into the world of MARSHALS and continue exploring the American West,” White said in a statement announcing his return. “The cast and crew are stacked full of my favorite actors and filmmakers, and I’m honored to join them.”

White added that he and Jimmy have “been through a lot together” and he's excited to discover what's ahead for the character. CBS hasn't revealed exactly how Jimmy will factor into the second season or what brings him into contact with Kayce again, leaving plenty of questions surrounding their reunion.

Kayce Dutton Returns for Marshals Season 2

Marshals follows Grimes' Kayce Dutton after the events of Yellowstone as he puts his experience as both a cowboy and former Navy SEAL to work as part of an elite unit of U.S. Marshals operating in Montana.

The series proved to be another major success for the expanding Yellowstone franchise during its first season. According to CBS, Marshals averaged 19.3 million viewers per episode across platforms after 35 days of viewing, making it television's No. 1 new series.

Taylor Sheridan executive produces alongside David Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Spencer Hudnut, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Grimes and Keith Cox. Hudnut also serves as showrunner. White's return now gives longtime Yellowstone viewers another connection to the original series and Jimmy certainly isn't a character we expected to leave behind for good. The bigger question is what he's doing back in Montana and how he'll fit into Kayce's new life.

Marshals Season 2 premieres Sunday, Oct. 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS and will also stream on Paramount+.
