‘The Traitors’ Renewed for Three More Seasons as Peacock Goes All In

Peacock is keeping the cloaks, daggers and Alan Cumming’s increasingly fabulous wardrobe around for a long time.

The Traitors has officially been renewed for three additional seasons, taking the Emmy-winning reality competition series through Season 8. The massive renewal comes on top of the previously ordered next season, meaning viewers now have four more seasons of murder, banishments and people confidently accusing the wrong person to look forward to.

Alan Cumming will also return as host, because at this point, could we really imagine anyone else welcoming a new group of Faithfuls into that Scottish castle?

Peacock Is Betting Big on The Traitors

A three-season renewal is a major vote of confidence for any television series, but it is not difficult to see why Peacock wants to keep The Traitors around.

The most recent season delivered the show's biggest ratings yet, with Peacock reporting that viewership increased 72% compared with the previous season. Since its Jan. 8 premiere, the series has generated 8.1 billion minutes viewed, ranking as the No. 2 streaming original reality series of 2026 to date by minutes viewed, behind only Peacock's Love Island USA.

Apparently, watching reality stars lie directly to each other's faces remains very good business.

The renewal also arrives just days after another huge showing at the Emmys. The Traitors collected seven awards for its latest season, setting a new record for the most Emmy wins by a competition series in a single year.

Among those wins was Outstanding Reality Competition Program, while Cumming earned his third consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program. At this point, Peacock isn't just protecting one of its biggest reality hits. It's building around it.

The Traitors Universe Is Getting Even Bigger

Before the flagship series returns, viewers are getting another trip to the castle with The Traitors: New Blood, which premieres Thursday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC before streaming the following day on Peacock.

Unlike the celebrity and reality-TV-heavy cast of the original series, New Blood puts 22 everyday Americans into the game. They were selected from more than 80,000 applicants and will compete for a prize of up to $250,000. Cumming will host that edition as well, so while the players may be new, they'll still have to survive his dramatic entrances and those terrifying Round Tables. The flagship The Traitors is already set to return in 2027, and Peacock's latest order guarantees the game will continue for years beyond that.

So prepare yourselves, Faithfuls. There are going to be a whole lot more murders before Alan Cumming finally locks the castle doors.
