TV Casting Roundup: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Alum Joins ‘Tracker,’ ‘Heated Rivalry’ Adds Six & More

There are plenty of new faces headed to some of television's biggest shows, with fresh casting announcements for Tracker, Heated Rivalry, Saturday Night Live and Boston Blue.

From a Vampire Diaries alum potentially complicating Reenie's love life to six new additions entering the world of Heated Rivalry, here's the latest casting news you need to know.

Michael Malarkey Is Headed to Tracker

Reenie's past is about to come knocking.

The Vampire Diaries alum Michael Malarkey has joined Season 4 of CBS' Tracker in the recurring role of Adam, a private investigator who works for high-end law firms.

Adam and Reenie (Fiona Rene) aren't strangers. The two are old friends who haven't seen each other in years, and when they cross paths again, their familiar banter immediately raises some questions about exactly what happened between them and whether there could still be something there.

CBS describes Adam as intelligent and sophisticated with a "bad-boy undercurrent," which certainly doesn't make us any less suspicious about where this is going. Reenie's personal life has never exactly been simple, and bringing someone from her past into the mix could finally give viewers a chance to learn more about who she was before joining Colter's orbit.

Tracker returns for Season 4 on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS before moving to its regular 9 p.m. time slot the following week.

Heated Rivalry Adds Six for Season 2

The Heated Rivalry bench is getting deeper.

Six actors have joined Season 2 of the hockey drama: Brendan Morgan will play Zane Boodram, Gerry Dee is Coach Cooper, Michelle Mylett will portray Lisa, Lauren Chan is Gen, Nick Stahl will play Curtis Barrett and David Tomlinson has been cast as Cody Kent. Book readers may recognize that last character by a slightly different name. In Rachel Reid's Game Changers novels, the character is named Dallas Kent, but the television adaptation has changed his first name to Cody.

The additions continue to expand the world surrounding Shane and Ilya as the series heads into its sophomore season.

Heated Rivalry is expected to return in spring 2027, with the series streaming on HBO Max in the United States.

SNL Welcomes Two New Featured Players

Saturday Night Live is adding two new faces to Studio 8H.

Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter are joining the cast as featured players for Season 52.

Belo-Osagie's previous work includes writing and directing the short film Tinge and creating the solo show Saidah Gets Closure. Reiter has appeared in HBO's The Chair Company and has the upcoming comedy series Minimum Wage on the way.

The additions come as SNL prepares to kick off another season with a very New York choice behind the host's microphone: Knicks star Jalen Brunson.

Saturday Night Live Season 52 premieres Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC with Brunson hosting and KATSEYE serving as musical guest.

Marg Helgenberger Returns to CBS With Boston Blue

Marg Helgenberger is heading back to familiar CBS territory, but this time she won't be investigating a crime scene.

The CSI veteran has joined Boston Blue Season 2 in the recurring role of Gwen Silver, the estranged biological mother of Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson).

Gwen is described as charming but unpredictable, and she's returning to Boston with a deeply personal agenda at a time when Sarah isn't expecting to see her. Although Gwen loves her daughter, her sudden arrival is set to add another complicated layer to the Silver family's already complicated dynamics.

And yes, seeing Helgenberger back on CBS just feels right.

Boston Blue returns for Season 2 on Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
