Days of Our Lives: Sarah Admits Her True Feelings for Xander — And He Hears It

Sarah may be trying to build something with Brady, but her feelings for Xander aren't disappearing quite so easily. On the September 3 episode of Days of Our Lives, Sarah finally put those complicated emotions into words, unfortunately, Xander was close enough to hear them.

The drama unfolded during the daddy-daughter dance, where several Salem families gathered for what should have been a relatively sweet event. Brady, however, couldn't ignore what he has been noticing between Sarah and Xander and confronted her about the lingering connection with her ex.

Sarah tried to reassure Brady about their relationship and made it clear that he is the man she currently wants to be with. But she also admitted something considerably more complicated: she will always love Xander. That's a pretty big declaration to make when you're trying to convince your current partner that he has nothing to worry about. Making matters worse, Xander overheard her.

Sarah and Xander's relationship may be over for now, but their connection has never been something either of them could simply turn off. They share years of history and, most importantly, their daughter Victoria, which guarantees that they'll continue being part of each other's lives regardless of who either one chooses romantically.

Recent interactions haven't exactly helped Sarah convince anyone that those feelings are completely in the past. Xander recently spent a touching afternoon with Victoria at Horton Square, where he discovered his daughter's surprising musical talent. Sarah, meanwhile, moved herself and Victoria into Brady's home while making it clear that the arrangement is temporary.

Now Brady is openly questioning whether there is still something between Sarah and Xander, and Sarah's own admission suggests his instincts aren't entirely wrong.

The real question is what Xander does with what he heard. Sarah didn't tell him she wants to reunite, nor did she suggest she's ready to leave Brady. She simply acknowledged that a part of her will always love the man with whom she shares so much history. For Xander, though, that could be enough to reopen a door he thought had closed.

Brady also finds himself in an uncomfortable position. Sarah says she's choosing him, but he now knows that Xander still occupies a permanent place in her heart. That's not exactly the reassurance someone wants when they're already worried about an ex.

Sarah may be moving forward with Brady for now, but Days of Our Lives just made one thing very clear: whatever exists between Sarah and Xander isn't completely gone.

And now Xander knows it too.
