I’ve been following this film’s development for years. As a huge fan of Tom Hardy, one of my all-time favorite actors, I was hyped to finally see Havoc in action. So, how does it hold up? Let’s start with the positives. The action sequences are where this film truly shines. Gareth Evans brings his signature style, bone-crunching, over-the-top violence that feels raw and brutal in the best way. Visually, the film has a slick, neo-noir look blended with gritty action-thriller energy. The cinematography is sharp, the editing tight, and I was impressed by how they transformed a small Welsh town into a seedy, crime-ridden American city. The production design really sells the atmosphere. Tom Hardy delivers a solid performance, but it’s definitely within his comfort zone. He leans into the same accent he uses for Venom, and his character isn’t far off from the ones we’ve seen in Legend or Taboo. Forest Whitaker and Timothy Olyphant are both reliably strong, but again, they’re playing roles that feel familiar. It seems like Evans cast them in “safe” roles, he knew what they could do and let them do just that. My biggest gripe with Havoc is the writing. The story is functional but derivative. It borrows heavily from other action thrillers, most notably Taken. Honestly, it feels like the kind of film built around Hardy’s star power to guarantee attention. It also reminded me a lot of The Gray Man (2022), both films where the action outshines the plot. If all you want is slick, brutal action with a moody visual style, Havoc delivers. But if you’re hoping for a fresh story or deeper substance, it might leave you wanting more. At the end of the day, Havoc is decent. It’s not terrible, but with the talent involved, I expected more. I’m giving it a 6 out of 10, or 3.5 out of 5 stars. And hey if nothing else, it’s got me hoping Tom Hardy finally gives us that long-awaited second season of Taboo. Thanks for reading! Did THAT just happen? I have been waiting for movement on the Pete and Alberta front for the last couple of seasons and it was finally touched upon again on tonight’s episode of Ghosts, I Know What You Did Thirty-Seven Summers Ago.  Let’s get into the ‘Ghosts’ “I Know What You Did Thirty-Seven Summers Ago” recap. So even though Pete and Alberta were the B story this episode, in my eyes, they were the main story. Jay is hosting the Mayor’s campaign event and he hopes that if the night goes perfectly, the Mayor can pull some strings to get the permits he needs to reopen his barn restaurant. Having a man fall through the roof and die really isn’t a good look. The roof has been repaired and the permits are the final step.  Jay talks to his one employee asking him not to celebrate 420 as he needs everything running smoothly. Of course someone who celebrates 420 is not going to smoke. Pete decides to keep an eye on him and because ghosts can smell, Pete accidentally gets high. For some reason this development along with all the changes Pete has gone through this season causes Alberta to see him in a new light and he is now a “bad boy.” Alberta finds Pete listening to jazz music and Alberta makes her move! She leans in to kiss Pete but he stops her with a face palm, a call back to when he tried to kiss her many seasons ago.  Embarrassed, Alberta leaves. Pete explains to Thor he is taken and does not want to cheat but where does this leave them? Will we get a follow up? Does Alberta truly have feelings for Pete or was this just a one-off? Guess we will have to wait for the next two episodes to find out.  Meanwhile, it turns out that the Mayor is connected to ghost Stephanie. He was her prom date and there when she was killed. He tells the story of how he tried to save her but when Stephanie wakes up she tells Sam that he left her to die. Feeling like he shouldn’t get away with that, Sam and Jay call him out at his event only to be told that Stephanie lied. Stephanie forgives him and Sam lies to the Mayor about being high for 420 so he decides to still help them with the permits.  All well that ends well…except I need to know what happens with Alberta and Pete! Elsbeth is back with an all new episode (Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 18) and Michael Emerson is guest starring as Judge Milton Crawford.  A flashback shows three young people breaking into a country club at night. They get to the pool and two jump in. One guy who seemed to be the one who let them in leaves. The other guy tries to kiss the girl, but she tells him to stop. The guy kills the girl. The three people are Sherry Mitchell, Andy Mertens, and Milton Crawford. Andy is the person who let them in, and returns to ask Milton about the vehicle. He finds the girl dead, the other guy is getting out of the pool. The other young guy is now Judge Milton Crawford. That was a Shocker! He and Andy are tied to the murder of Sherry Mitchell. That explains a lot about Crawford. Would not have guessed this! Present Day, Mr. Victor Landis is meeting with the judge about vetting him for a federal judge position. Mr. Landis tells the judge he needs to know everything about his past. The Judge says there is nothing in his past to reveal. Another flashback shows Crawford killing Andy. After detailed review of Crawford’s past, Landis later tells Judge Crawford he’s found nothing detrimental in his background. The only question are those two people he saw at Stockport asking questions about him. Crawford assures him they won't be a problem. Landis is convinced. He’ll notify the committee to make the announcement. CPT Kershaw, CPT Wagner, Detective Blanke, Detective Rivers and Elsbeth meet in Wagner's office at the NYPD precinct. Wagner asks Elsbeth to give CPT Kershaw a good reason to go after Judge Crawford. Elsbeth asks Detective Rivers what record was playing on the turntable. He doesn't remember. Elsbeth says it was a Donna Summer song. Elsbeth puts the transcript of Delia Kirby's trial on the desk. Her defense was that she didn't hear Andy’s attacker because someone turned the stereo up loud. No one on the prosecutor’s team or the defense mentioned it. Judge Crawford knew about it. He slipped and taunted Elsbeth by calling her a disco-loving pervert. The only way he knew it was disco music playing was if he was there. Crawford railroaded Delia and was desperate to put her away. Detective Rivers says this was a reach. CPT Wagner says when Elsbeth started asking questions, Judge Crawford kept intimidating her and interfering in their investigation. CPT Kershaw says Judge Crawford was scared. CPT Wagner asks Detective Blanke to re-exam the Mertens case. CPT Wagner says Detective Rivers will assist Detective Blanke. Detective Blanke asks why a judge would murder a financial analyst and frame his girlfriend. Elsbeth says they might have a lead. In walks Delia. She brings a box of items. She says Andy didn't talk much about his life before he moved to New York. Delia says she had some of his things they used during sexy role play. She had a badge of Andy’s from the Stockport Yacht Club where he worked one summer. Crawford ‘s Family has a summer home in the same town. Elsbeth says something happened there that Andy Mertens witnessed. It later cost him his life. CPT Wagner says they have to go on a road trip to find out. Elsbeth  paces back and forth behind Teddy as he waits for his LSAT score. She picks up Gonzo and holds him in her lap. Teddy checks his score and is surprised to find his LSAT score is really high. Elsbeth is so proud of her son. She asks how he feels. Teddy wasn't sure about his legal aspirations, but after his LSAT scores he decides to go to law school. Teddy will stay and take care of Gonzo, and research law schools. Elsbeth and CPT Wagner get to the Stockport Yacht Club and meet with the manager. He gives them as much information as he remembers about Andy and Sherry. He also tells them the pool was closed after Sherry’s “accident”. He refers them to Sherry’s sister. They got some information that helped them with their investigation that tied Crawford and Andy together. She gave them evidence that led them to the investigating detective, Detective Haynes. Haynes adds more missing pieces to the puzzle that help Wagner and Elsbeth build a case against Crawford.  Meanwhile, Mr. Landis and Judge Crawford review all his past actions Landis asks about a recurring payment to somewhere in Stockport. It's his summer home near the Yacht Club. Crawford is a little anxious, and Landis makes a note as Crawford rushes off to order some food.  Back at the Yacht Club, Elsbeth deduces the blood couldn't have been Sherry's. She theorizes Crawford murdered her, and Andy knew about it. CPT Wagner says they need something concrete to connect Crawford to all of this. Elsbeth thanks the gentleman who opened the door for her as they left. It was Mr. Landis. He looked worried and  calls Crawford. He asks why there was a man and woman with New York plates at the Yacht Club asking questions about him. Crawford realizes it's Elsbeth after Landis describes how she's dressed.  Elsbeth and Wagner return to the station. Detectives Blanke and Rivers created a murder board in Elsbeth’s office. They find that Crawford's was near Andy's apartment according to traffic cams. An entry in Sherry’s diary points to someone referred to as “the lurker”. Elsbeth believes that was Milton Crawford. They still need more evidence to build a strong case against Judge Crawford. Later that night, the team starts experiencing repercussions for investigating Crawford. He also follows Elsbeth and threatens her face-to-face that night. She finds out when she gets home and Teddy tells her his Dad is now facing possible disbarment due to a possible ethics violation. The next morning the precinct feels it, too. Jobs, family and friends all suffer from Crawford’s influence. Elsbeth regrets going after Crawford and tells CPT Wagner they should let this go. CPT Wagner disagrees and says they always get their man. That evening he and his wife, Claudia, go to the law society gathering to talk with Judge Crawford. CPT Wagner agrees to a truce with Crawford, and will stop their investigation. That was a ruse, and Elsbeth waits for the Wagners downstairs.They got some evidence that could tie Crawford to Sherry’s murder. They leave and rush it to the lab. Later, their investigation suffers another devastating blow. All their evidence disappeared from the lab. Elsbeth talks with Delia and explains how Sherry's murder is tied to Andy's death. Delia says this is why Andy was so paranoid about being watched. Elsbeth tells Delia to be careful. Delia says she has nothing left to lose. CPT Wagner says Crawford just announced for a federal bench position, and he’s untouchable. Elsbeth says she suddenly has to leave. She goes to confront Crawford after his ceremony, and vows to arrest him for the murders of Sherry and Andy. Crawford tells her that he's always a step ahead. Feeling invincible, Judge Crawford comes close to bragging and admitting he was guilty, and gets away with it. Outside on the courthouse steps, he tells Elsbeth the world no longer rewards the righteous. It now rewards the powerful and mighty. He calls Elsbeth naive. Someone calls his name and Elsbeth turns, recognizing Delia. Seconds later a shot rings out as she shoots Judge Crawford. Elsbeth tells Crawford to hang on, but he dies. Elsbeth cries out to Delia that they would have gotten him. Delia replies now they have.  An impromptu memorial forms on the steps of the courthouse for Judge Crawford. The media reports on his sudden death, making him a martyred hero. Wagner says this was lawlessness not justice. Teddy comes running into the precinct and hugs his Mom. He was worried about her. Teddy loudly protests and states he can't be a part of a world that privileges the rich and powerful. He no longer wants to be a lawyer. He asks what’s the point. Wagner says the point is to try. He asks Elsbeth to back him up, but she can't. She tells Teddy she understands. This Elsbeth episode was a thorough mystery with not just one, but three different cases tied together. The Judge Crawford arc was magnificent with superb acting. This was another triumphant episode, as previous episodes. But, there was a feeling of despondency, helplessness and a touch of hopelessness. It was more baffling whether Crawford would even have been arrested. Did they have strong enough evidence to convict him, and would any of their friends and family members become collateral damage? Elsbeth’s lack of signature optimism and confidence reflected this uncertainty. This episode was exceptional, frustrating, sad and thought-provoking. It was written, acted and produced well.

For nearly a decade, The CW’s Arrowverse had millions of fans tuning in with its unique blend of action, character driven stories and expanded universe. From Oliver Queen’s gritty vigilante beginnings  in Arrow  to Barry Allen’s heart-driven heroism  in The Flash , this shared universe became more than just superhero entertainment it became a cultural phenomenon. But since the franchise’s slow fade between 2020 and 2023, a growing number of passionate fans and critics (like us) alike are asking the same question: Why did the Arrowverse end and more importantly, should it come back? The short answer? Absolutely. The Arrowverse isn’t just a collection of shows; it’s a blueprint for what long-form superhero storytelling can be. In a landscape where comic book fatigue is real, bringing back the Arrowverse with fresh energy, evolved narratives, and smarter crossovers could reinvigorate both fans and the genre. Let’s explore why this fan-favorite universe deserves another shot at greatness. The Rise of the Arrowverse: Why It Mattered A Superhero Universe That Actually Worked Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe dominated box offices, Arrow  quietly launched a new era of interconnected storytelling on TV in 2012. It started small with gritty, grounded realism but quickly expanded to include metahumans, aliens, time travel, and multiverses, all while maintaining strong character arcs. By the time The Flash , Supergirl , Legends of Tomorrow , and Batwoman  joined the fray, the Arrowverse had become a thriving multiverse with rich crossover potential. The annual crossovers like Crisis on Earth-X  and Crisis on Infinite Earths were must-see events, uniting characters across shows in epic, emotional, and surprisingly cohesive narratives. We can even go back further with the launch of Smallville in 2001 telling the story of a teenaged Clark Kent who would later become Superman, the world’s greatest superhero (arguably) who later joined the Arrowverse through the Crisis crossover. Building a Loyal Fanbase The Arrowverse didn’t just attract viewers it created a fandom . Weekly episodes sparked fan theories, shipping wars, and social media trends. The CW’s shows featured diverse casts , LGBTQ+ representation , and moral complexity , making the universe feel inclusive and emotionally resonant. In its prime, The Flash  alone averaged over 4 million viewers per episode , with crossover events often boosting viewership across the board. Talking about shipping wars, who doesn’t remember the Barry and Iris fans versus the Barry and Caitlin fans on Twitter? You just had to be there. Why the Arrowverse Declined Oversaturation and Burnout By the time Batwoman  and Superman & Lois  aired, some viewers felt overwhelmed. Too many shows running simultaneously created a content glut. While each show had merit, not all maintained consistent quality. Storylines occasionally dragged, and over-reliance on romantic subplots alienated part of the audience. The decline in storytelling for The Flash (the favorite of all the shows) was hard to watch. The writers were the definition of “lost the plot.” However, that’s another article for another time. Network and Licensing Changes The CW faced its own struggles, including leadership changes, budget cuts, and an eventual shift in programming strategy. Licensing complications with Warner Bros. and DC, along with the growing influence of streaming services like HBO Max, further complicated the Arrowverse’s future. Series like Supergirl  and Black Lightning  ended abruptly, while Legends of Tomorrow  and Batwoman were cancelled without closure, frustrating loyal fans. Why Now Is the Perfect Time for a Comeback Superhero Fatigue Needs a Reset Ironically, the decline of the Arrowverse coincided with a dip in enthusiasm for superhero content across the board. Blockbuster fatigue is real, and even the MCU is showing signs of overextension. A revived Arrowverse , with a tighter focus and more grounded storytelling, could offer a fresh alternative to the CGI-heavy chaos of modern superhero films. Streaming Has Changed the Game Today, streaming platforms dominate how audiences consume content. A rebooted Arrowverse, possibly as an exclusive on Max (formerly HBO Max)  or Netflix , could reach a broader, more global audience. Binge-friendly arcs, limited series formats, and event-style storytelling could modernize the franchise for today’s viewer habits. How many times have us fans gone to Netflix to rewatch the best seasons of our favorite Arrowverse shows? Built-in Audience and Brand Recognition Unlike starting a brand-new DC TV universe from scratch, reviving the Arrowverse taps into an existing fanbase. Characters like Barry Allen, Sara Lance, and even newer ones like Ryan Wilder have name recognition and emotional equity with viewers. This makes marketing, audience acquisition, and long-term engagement much easier. What a Revived Arrowverse Could Look Like Tighter Storytelling and Shorter Seasons One of the biggest criticisms of the Arrowverse was its reliance on the traditional 22-episode season format. A modern reboot could easily follow the 8–13-episode model now common on streaming platforms. This allows for more focused narratives, fewer filler episodes, and higher-quality production per episode something shows like Peacemaker and The Boys  have shown to be successful. Evolved Characters and New Heroes A revival doesn’t mean going back to square one. Imagine a world where Barry Allen mentors a new generation of speedsters , or John Diggle finally embraces the Green Lantern mantle teased for years. Sad that his spin-off show wasn’t able to get off the ground due to the CW rebranding. The showrunners could revisit fan-favorite characters while introducing fresh faces diverse, compelling heroes from across the DC universe who haven’t yet had their moment. Heroes like Vixen , Blue Beetle , or Zatanna  could add mystical or international flavor, while fan-favorite villains like Deathstroke  or Reverse-Flash  could be reimagined with more complex motivations. Crossovers That Matter Instead of annual crossovers that often stretch too thin, a rebooted Arrowverse could focus on high-stakes, high-quality event series  akin to Marvel's Loki  or Daredevil: Born Again . These could tie together mini-arcs across different characters and shows in meaningful, impactful ways that move the story and the multiverse forward. Tone That Balances Heart and Heroism The Arrowverse at its best struck a perfect balance between superhero spectacle and deeply human stories. Its revival should avoid the tonal extremes of being too dark ( Arrow  Season 1) or overly goofy ( Legends  Season 7) and instead return to heartfelt storytelling , strong ensemble casts, and thoughtful commentary on identity, justice, and sacrifice. How a Revival Benefits DC, The CW, and Fans A Boost for the DC Brand While James Gunn’s reboot of the DC Universe is highly anticipated, it also comes with risk. Reviving the Arrowverse as a parallel TV multiverse  could serve as both a nostalgic bridge and a testing ground for lesser-known characters. It offers fans consistent, serialized content while the theatrical slate finds its footing. In a time where brand loyalty is more important than ever, the Arrowverse could reestablish trust and passion among longtime DC fans, showing that not everything needs to start from scratch to succeed. Strategic Growth for The CW and Streaming Partners Now under new ownership and undergoing a rebrand, The CW is shifting toward more cost-efficient programming. A retooled Arrowverse, co-produced with Warner Bros. and designed with streaming in mind, could align perfectly with these goals. Imagine flagship shows airing on The CW weekly and then becoming part of the Max streaming library blending old-school episodic energy with new-age binge culture. The global reach of streaming would also introduce Arrowverse heroes to a broader, younger, international fanbase. Giving Fans Closure and New Hope Many Arrowverse shows ended with unresolved arcs. Legends of Tomorrow  was cancelled on a cliffhanger. Batwoman teased Gotham’s deeper lore but never fully explored it. Diggle’s Green Lantern storyline  was planted and abandoned. A revival would not only honor past fans but offer satisfying closure to these stories while simultaneously launching new ones The Arrowverse Deserves a Second Shot The Arrowverse wasn't perfect, but it was bold, ambitious, and full of heart . It gave fans something rare: a superhero universe they could visit week after week, full of familiar faces, surprising twists, and emotional payoffs. It bridged generations of DC storytelling and built a community around hope, heroism, and connection. Now, with the superhero genre at a crossroads, reviving the Arrowverse  isn’t just about nostalgia it’s about building something new on a strong foundation. With smarter pacing, evolved characters, and better platform integration, a modern Arrowverse could thrive in today’s media landscape. The fans are ready. The actors are willing. Matlock has been a breakout hit for CBS and quickly received an early renewal. It was nice to watch the season without worrying if the show would come back. Now that the freshman season has ended and we know who hid the documents (Julian) the team here at The TV Cave have opinions about what we want to see in season two.  Let's dive into our Matlock Season 2 Predictions. Maddy and Olympia’s friendship has been the heart of season 1 on Matlock. They had a rocky start but over the course of the season these two powerhouse women really built a strong foundation. Even though Maddy joined the firm under false pretense, her friendship with Olympia was anything but false.  Matlock season two needs to focus on the return of Olympia and Maddy’s friendship. How they might rebuild their bond, especially since it was essentially destroyed once the truth came out should be a key storyline throughout.  Since it seems that Julian and Olympia’s marriage is really done for, let’s see Elijah return and sweep Olympia off her feet as they had undeniable chemistry that brought so much energy to the show. Last we saw Elijah he did have a girlfriend, but let’s be honest, we don’t even remember her name. But if Elijah and Olympia are really over, maybe a new guy can enter the game.  It would be exciting to watch Olympia strike out on her own, perhaps even consider starting her own practice. Exploring what it would look like for her to go up against Senior would add an interesting dynamic to the story. How will the fallout with Julian impact Senior and Olympia? Also, Olympia’s family, especially her late father, needs to be explored more. It would be great to dive deeper into who he was and the impact he had on her life. Now Maddy has a lot to unpack next season as well. How will Alfie’s relationship with his biological father affect the dynamic between Maddy and her husband? That storyline has so much potential for drama and emotional growth. And speaking of Maddy’s husband, there is so much tension there with her deciding to go back to work. Will any other co-workers find out about her deception? Will she start her own practice? So many unanswered questions and we cannot wait for the answers.  Sarah is about to get found out regarding her case and Billy may be a father. So much rich story to dive into next season and not just with the two leads.  Matlock is such a great show, with so many directions the story can take. Errol is devastatingly handsome, a talented director and the bane of Farrah’s work life.  With the entire movie on the verge of ending before it begins, Farrah and Errol must learn to put their dislike for one another aside and do what they must to get this movie off the ground.  And maybe…their own relationship as well?  Thoughts: Farrah has been through some TRAUMA! Whew! It's the betrayals from those closest that do the most damage, but as Farrah learns, they also come with the biggest lessons. Sometimes shitty things happen and you can’t do anything about it, but sometimes shitty things happen and your life gets the best kind of wake up call ever. From small-time stylist to big-time star, Farrah’s journey is full of laughter, love and tears. Her sharp wit and confidence make her the ultimate MAIN CHARACTER.  Errol worms his way into Farrah’s heart with banter and natural talent. A bi-sexual man with “communal dick” and a soft spot for confident women. Although they have a hell of a rocky start, these enemies to lovers will have you clutching your heart in shock and then awe.  Steamy on Set is a great reminder to follow your dreams, but to also take chances. Netflix revealed on Wednesday that Wednesday Season 2 will be dropped in two parts (this appears to be Netflix’s new model and we do not like it). The fist episodes will release on Wednesday (we get it) August 6th and the remaining episodes will be available to stream on Wednesday (enough) September 3rd.   That’s not all, Netflix also gave us the first teaser trailer (see below).   “Wherever there’s murder and mayhem, you will always find an Addams.”   Some cast changes have not gone unnoticed. Naomi J. Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka) and Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe) will not be returning for the second season.
