Hopefully, that changes before the actual election. Anyway, he wins the primary. Surprise, surprise. Darlene misinterprets Izaiah not being a total ass to his dad during a crisis as progress, but little does she know that Izaiah’s light is a little dim upstairs. He gives criminals, see Joey and Leslie, praise, but his dad wanting the best for him is an issue. They really dropped the ball with this character. I do love his love for Eva, even though they bore me. Thankfully, Joey decides to stay away from the hospital. Vanessa goes by, and stupid Dani talks about that time she defiled herself in the elevator with a bastard who has no respect for her. Andre catches the tail end, but Vanessa lies cleanly. Gee, I don’t know, if you don’t want to get caught, maybe don’t discuss it somewhere people can overhear you. Later, Elon confronts Joey about Jacob, but of course, Joey is the favored character by the writers, so he gets the last word. Everyone rallies around Eva and Kat as they go into surgery. As Martin shares the news of his win, the Duprees are notified that Kat is having a medical crisis. Tuesday Eva wakes up and learns what Kat did for her. She talks to everyone and receives a gift from Izaiah. She can barely believe that Kat did this for her. When she finds out Kat hasn’t woken up, she blames herself. Meanwhile, Kat visits an alternate timeline. It is too much to get into here, so I highly recommend watching the episode. In my mind, it worked up until the very end. In this timeline, everyone is still together: Nicole and Ted, Bill and Dani. Ted tells Nicole that he chose Leslie. Then we learn that Leslie is pregnant, and Kat watches it all unfold. Later, she sees that Nicole is also pregnant, but Nicole resents the pregnancy. At first, it seemed like all of Kat’s fears were being manifested, but it was actually designed to put Kat in Eva’s position. The timeline progresses over decades and ends with Eva at a celebration with Kat’s family, minus Martin, who is her brother in this version. They all talk trash about Kat, and Eva says she wishes Kat had never been born. Then she turns to Kat and says, “Doesn’t feel too good, does it?” That is when we know the writers’ intention. I am not sure how to feel about it, and the internet is split. The common thread, though? Ted is still a trash father. In the end, he is a horrible father to Kat in both timelines. The family rallies around Kat and her parents. Chelsea is worried and proves she is a day one. However, Kat wakes up after receiving the biased message from the writers. Wednesday Eva wants to see Kat, but it is Kat who gets out of bed and wheels herself to Eva’s room. Kat, who suffered complications, but anyway. I really loved the heart-to-heart they had. Kat tells Eva about the dream, but she also says they will never be sisters. Still, she understands her a bit more. Eva tells Ted that he needs to spend more time with Kat and that he has been neglecting Kat to be there for her. Hello, newsflash. Somebody scream. The thing is, why did it take Eva to say this, and will he actually change? Leslie goes to visit Kat, and of course, she has to taunt her first. Kat tells her she isn’t scared of her. Leslie thanks her and says she owes her. Kat tells her that one day, she will collect. I am not sure what that means, but we shall see. Tomas meets with Chelsea at Orphey’s. He shows her a ring because he wants to propose to Kat. Insert side-eye. Insert disgust. Nobody wants this, and I hope Kat declines so he can leave her for good. Andre and Dani reconnect in the bedroom. Dani worries that the secret is eating her up, and honestly, she would be better off telling him the truth. See, Dani knows it is not just Andre’s wrath she would have to face, but Nicole and Ted’s too. She would be back in the hot seat, facing her parents’ disappointment. She ruined all of her progress for five minutes in an elevator. Thursday Ashley and Grayson make amends, and she calls Naomi, who is having lunch with Dani, to ask if Derek would forgive her. I half-watched her scenes, sorry. After learning from Naomi that Bill was fantasizing about her, Dani races over to Bill’s office to confront him. Dani, if you are done with Bill, then this has to stop. It makes that man even more arrogant than he already is. It is clear that Bill only wants Dani because she doesn’t want him. He will tell Andre the truth eventually. Meanwhile, Hayley walks in wearing a coat and nothing else. She wants to know why Dani is there, and Dani notes that Bill is still using that old roleplay, which angers Hayley. Dani leaves, and Hayley argues with Bill. Tomas asks Ted for Kat’s hand, but Ted is skeptical about his intentions. Friday Leslie announces that she is moving in with Eva. Both Eva and Izaiah try to talk her out of it. Izaiah later asks Ted for help. Kat and Eva take their first steps after PT, Eva with Shanice and Kat with Kial. Deanna talks with Kat, and Kat tells her to try to make amends. Later, Deanna talks with Doug, who encourages her to build bridges with her mother and focus on Joey. Deanna takes that advice by going to the Uptown and telling Vanessa that she accepts the relationship. But when they hug, the look on Deanna’s face says a scheme is brewing. Final Thoughts on the Week This week was good, but it could have done without the heavy-handed, slanted writing in favor of the Thomas women. I am over hitting the same points each week, but the best parts of the week were Kat and Eva’s story and Deanna’s revenge plot. And honestly, that is about it.

Dante eventually confronted Britt inside her hideaway, where she had been caring for Rocco while trying to prepare him for the reality that her health would continue to decline. Britt's quiet acceptance of what was coming made those scenes especially heartbreaking. Just when it looked like she was ready to inject herself with the poisoned medication Cassius had secretly supplied, authorities arrived and arrested her. Lulu, Dante, and Rocco escaped together, but Britt's future became far more uncertain. Speaking of Cassius, every episode seemed determined to make him even more suspicious. He secretly removed Britt's medication from the safe at Wyndemere before being interrupted by Cullum. Later, ADA Turner assigned Cassius to take over the search for Jenz Sidwell, while Jordan and Laura unknowingly handed him valuable information about a possible Sidwell safehouse. The audience knows that information is incredibly dangerous in Cassius' hands, even if Jordan and Laura don't. Then came one of the week's biggest reveals. Across the globe in Aix-les-Bains, France, viewers finally caught up with Anna Devane. Felicia, Mac, and Emma traveled to reunite with her after hearing from Dr. Laurent, and while Anna has shown encouraging signs of recovery, her doctors made it clear she isn't ready to leave the clinic until she can fully distinguish reality from delusion. Even so, Anna managed to deliver a stunning warning to Felicia before the week ended, insisting that Cassius/Nathan is not who he claims to be. Whew. That revelation alone could send shockwaves through Port Charles. Willow had a rough week from nearly every angle. She tried balancing work while caring for Drew, only to find Sidwell unexpectedly showing up at the house. Chase later declined Willow's job offer, but Sidwell secretly listened to their conversation before offering Drew his own interpretation of what had happened. Nothing about Sidwell's timing ever feels accidental, and this visit was no exception. Willow's legal problems only intensified when Detective Fitzpatrick served a warrant requesting her vehicle's trip records from the night of Jordan Ashford's accident. The records indicated her vehicle passed the accident scene, placing even more scrutiny on her. Curtis immediately defended Willow and continued insisting Isaiah was responsible, but Detective Fitzpatrick wasn't interested in ruling anyone out just yet. It certainly looks like this investigation is far from over. Elsewhere, Trina finally reached her breaking point. Tired of constantly trying to hold everyone together, she told Portia and Curtis she was finished playing peacemaker. It was a refreshing moment for Trina, who finally chose herself instead of carrying everyone else's emotional baggage. There was also plenty happening around the Metro Court. Gio and Emma's flirtation continued to grow, with Gio teasing that Emma was breaking pool rules simply by looking so good. The Chi continues to prove that one of the biggest dangers in Chicago isn't violence, it's people who can't keep a secret. "When Truth Thaws" picks up immediately after the shocking events of last week's episode, with Tiffany and Victor dealing with the fallout of Nuck's death. Right from the start, it's clear that neither of them fully thought this plan through. Victor is determined to protect Tiffany no matter what, but every conversation they have feels like another step closer to disaster. The fact that Nuck is Keisha's child's father only makes the situation even messier. After a one-week time jump, the episode shifts focus to Keisha and Emmett's engagement plans. Tiffany is helping organize the celebration, which creates some incredibly uncomfortable scenes considering what the audience knows and what Keisha doesn't. Every time Nuck's name comes up, you can feel the tension hanging over the room. One thing this episode made me realize is that the unofficial theme of Season 8 might be "Everybody Talks Too Much." Seriously, nobody can keep information to themselves. Britney continues asking questions about Nora's murder. Jackie knows more than she's saying. Bakari learns information he probably shouldn't know. Shaad starts digging into things that don't concern him. Every time a character discovers a secret, they immediately tell somebody else. At this point, half the city knows everybody else's business. That observation isn't just something fans are noticing. Ahmad Ferguson shared that he and Cortez Smith knew early on that Bakari and Nuck's confrontations would become some of the season's defining moments. The two actors, who have become close friends off-screen, leaned on that real-life bond to make every interaction feel as authentic as possible. Tiffany's scenes with Bakari were some of the strongest moments of the episode. Their confrontation was filled with tension, especially once it becomes clear that Bakari has known more than he's been letting on. Tiffany puts him in an impossible position moving forward, and I honestly don't understand how anyone thinks this arrangement is going to end well. It feels like Bakari is walking straight into danger. Ferguson told The TV Cave that working alongside Smith made those emotionally charged scenes easier because of the trust they've built over the years. "This is my real big brother," Ferguson said. Emmett and Keisha's wedding planning provides some lighter moments. Their debate over the guest list felt realistic and reminded me why these two work so well together. Even something as simple as deciding how many people to invite turns into a full discussion. Lela Rochon also makes a welcome appearance as their wedding planner. Shaad continues investigating Nora's murder despite Patience warning him to let it go. Watching him pull on different threads throughout the episode creates a lot of suspense because you know every answer is only going to create more problems. The deeper he digs, the more dangerous things become. One scene I really enjoyed was the conversation between Victor and Shaad. They haven't shared much screen time recently, so it was nice seeing those characters reconnect. It was a simple moment, but it helped ground the episode amid all the secrets and lies. The engagement party serves as the emotional centerpiece of the hour. It's a celebration, but underneath it all everyone seems to be hiding something. The tension is especially noticeable whenever Tiffany, Victor, Emmett, and Keisha are together. You can tell the truth is getting harder and harder to hide. Even some of the smaller storylines, from Devonte and his friends getting into trouble to the ongoing relationship discussions among several characters, tie back into the episode's larger themes of commitment, honesty, and the consequences of keeping secrets. By the end of the episode, more people have information they shouldn't have, more questions have been raised, and several characters are heading toward confrontations that feel unavoidable. The camera repeatedly reminding viewers where Nuck is buried adds an extra layer of tension because you know the truth can't stay hidden forever. The fallout from Nuck's death also carried over behind the scenes. During our conversation, Cortez Smith reflected on filming his final episodes and revealed just how emotional his departure was for the cast and crew. "The whole set cried," Smith revealed. Knowing how close the cast has become over eight seasons adds another layer to the performances, making the grief and lingering tension surrounding Nuck's death feel even more genuine on screen. Overall, "When Truth Thaws" is another solid episode that focuses more on building tension than delivering major payoffs. The performances are strong, the secrets continue piling up, and if this episode proved anything, it's that everyone on The Chi seriously needs to stop talking. Netflix knew exactly what it was doing with Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, Episode 2. "A Fight, Once Begun" gives fans one of the moments they've been waiting for since the live-action series was announced: the arrival of Toph Beifong. And let us tell you... she did not disappoint. But while Team Avatar is getting one major upgrade, Zuko is out here making us want to throw our remote at the TV. This episode somehow balances fist-pumping excitement with emotional damage, and it works. The biggest win of the episode is easily Miya Cech's debut as Toph. She walks in with confidence, attitude and earthbending skills that remind everyone why she's one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise. From the second she steps into the underground Earth Kingdom tournament as the mysterious Blind Bandit, it's game over. Instead of stretching the tournament into multiple fights, the series gets right to the point. Toph absolutely embarrasses The Boulder in one of the coolest action sequences the live-action series has delivered so far. Every earthbending move feels powerful and the visual effects really sell her unique fighting style. She doesn't waste energy. She waits, listens and then completely destroys whoever is standing in front of her. We love to see it. The show also does a great job highlighting the contrast between who Toph really is and how everyone else sees her. Her parents still treat her like she's fragile and incapable, while she's secretly one of the strongest earthbenders in the world. It's fun to watch and makes her determination to forge her own path even more satisfying. Meanwhile, Zuko is having the roughest road trip imaginable. Separated from Uncle Iroh, he's hungry, exhausted and wandering through the Earth Kingdom with nothing but his obsession with finding the Avatar. A kind farming family takes him in after he helps defend them and for a minute it almost feels like Zuko might finally catch a break. Yeah... about that. His need to reclaim his honor once again gets in his own way. Instead of finding a new beginning, he leaves behind the very people who showed him kindness. The Fire Nation storyline also delivers some of the episode's strongest emotional moments. Azula continues proving she's one of television's most intimidating villains, but the flashbacks with young Zuko and Azula reveal that neither sibling ever really had a chance growing up under Fire Lord Ozai. The series digs deeper into how Ozai constantly manipulated his children and pushed them against one another, making their rivalry feel even more tragic. Even the seemingly innocent childhood moments carry an unsettling edge, showing that Azula's cruelty didn't appear overnight. By the end of the episode, Team Avatar finally has the earthbending teacher they've been searching for, while Zuko sinks even deeper into loneliness. It's a smart balance between hope and heartbreak that keeps both storylines equally compelling. The fight scenes between Team Azula and Team Avatar were amazing. Now, I know a lot of you will not be happy with the changes from the original cartoon regarding Toph but I am not a purist and it didn't bother me. Time constraints, I'm sure. Would I have loved to see more of Toph and her family finding out she's the Blind Bandit, of course but the way it was handled here, I'm not going to throw a fit. The series doesn't need to be a copy and paste. We've seen that with other live action adapations and complained. What did you think? The air is getting thin up in high-country Texas, and honestly, so is everyone's patience. With only one episode left before the big season finale, Dutton Ranch Season 1, Episode 8, titled "Whiskey Limits," dropped some nuggets while being all over the place a bit. Grab a drink, because we need to talk about how the 10-Petal Ranch is officially fracturing from the inside out. The episode wastes no time picking up from the absolute mess of the anniversary party. Beulah Jackson is airlifted to the hospital after her sudden collapse, and the diagnosis is just as serious as it looked. Doctors reveal she suffered a heart attack and rush her into an angioplasty. But because Beulah is a force of nature, she doesn’t let a little thing like near-death stop her from bossing everyone around. The second she is stable, she demands that Joaquin make peace with his brother, Rob-Will. She reminds them they are brothers from cradle to grave, while throwing out a sharp warning that keeping Beth and Rip close is non-negotiable. Naturally, Beulah gets tired of the hospital walls and the non-stop succession bickering pretty quickly. In a surprisingly tender moment, she and Everett sneak out of the hospital entirely to find some quiet comfort at Everett’s place, and Everett made it clear he's ready. Ok Everett. Meanwhile, Joaquin is handling his mother’s snubs exactly how you would expect: by blowing up the entire family dynamic. Furious that Beulah is favoring Rob-Will as the ranch's true successor, Joaquin decides he is completely done playing nice. He marches straight into the police station and tosses a gun onto Sheriff Wade’s desk, attempting to get Rob-Will for the murder of Wes Ayers. He really went there. Too bad for Joaquin, his grand betrayal hits a massive roadblock. Because he doesn’t actually know where Wes’s body is buried, thanks to Rip carefully hiding it under a construction site earlier, the Sheriff completely dismisses him. Wade literally tells Joaquin to take his game of Clue somewhere else. I can't stand Wade. While Joaquin is failing his true-crime audition, Austin is panicking after his terrifying run-in with the Jackson security chief, Miguel. Realizing his life is on the line, Austin finally sits down with Beth, Rip, and Zachariah to spill every single dirty secret about the 10-Petal operation. He blows the whistle on a massive, illegal cattle-smuggling ring running out of Mexico. Apparently, the Jacksons have been using forged paperwork to completely bypass border health inspections. This bombshell completely connects the dots for Beth and Rip, confirming the Jacksons are directly responsible for introducing the foot-and-mouth disease that ruined their new bull, Bullet, and infected their herd. Finally, we have to talk about Carter, because I am tired of his teenage angst. Dealing with a massive hangover and a crushed ego after Oreana humiliated him, Carter tries to survive his first grueling day as a rookie hand with Rip's crew. It goes terribly. He throws up, forgets his gloves, leaves a cattle gate open, and literally falls off his horse before walking away in pure frustration. Back at the house, Beth and Rip try to offer him a speech about building character through pain, but Carter completely snaps. He shouts that he doesn't want saviors who just took in an orphan, and drives away to find himself. A devastated Beth is forced to watch him leave, knowing she can't force him to stay where he doesn't feel he belongs. Then he and Wade have a run in and he wants to be a Sheriff now? Boy pick a damn lane and stay in it. Complaining that someone took you in, then go live on the street. You whine too much. Anyway, with the smuggling truth exposed and the family divided, the stage is set for a wild finale. Especially after Joaquin called his daddy at the end of the episode.
