What? Like it’s hard? How Elle is redefining prequels. This article contains light spoilers The lovable Elle Woods is back on our screens, but this time, she’s conquering a whole new challenge: high school. Elle, Amazon’s newest series, follows Elle Woods before we met her as the fashionable sorority girl turned Harvard Law student. This prequel explores Elle’s life after her parents abruptly move the family to Seattle following her father’s work scandal. With Bruiser by her side, Elle must navigate a brand-new high school filled with mean girls, activists, and, of course, a whole lot of plaid. Prequels and spin-offs always make me a little apprehensive, especially when they involve one of my favorite characters. I'll admit I was skeptical when I first saw the trailer. What is our quintessential L.A. girl doing in Seattle? This was never part of the story we knew, and I wasn't sure how it was all going to fit together. I was also nervous about whether the show could truly capture Elle's essence, but I can confidently say they absolutely nailed it. While the plot wasn't exactly what I expected from an Elle Woods prequel, I was delighted to see her ambition and determination shine through from such a young age. We already knew Elle was never someone who gave up easily, but it was refreshing to see those defining qualities take center stage so early in her story. After the unjust firing of a beloved teacher, Donna, Elle takes it upon herself to rally a group of new friends in an effort to bring her back, only to uncover that everyone is hiding much more than anyone realizes behind closed classroom doors. While working to uncover the secrets of Seattle, Elle realizes she may have more of a place in her new world than she realizes. Joined by a stellar supporting cast—including Chandler Kinney (Kimberly), Danielle Chand (Shannon), Gabrielle Policano (Liz), Zac Looker (Dustin), and Jacob Moskovitz (Miles)—I found myself loving every addition to Elle's world. Together, they make for a modern-day Breakfast Club. Between navigating new friendships, first crushes, and trying to win over Seattle, it's impossible not to fall in love with Elle all over again. In fact, she could pass as Reese Witherspoon's daughter. From the moment she appears on screen, it's obvious she was born to play Elle Woods. Elle is known for her iconic facial expressions, bubbly energy, and unmistakable way of speaking. The second you hear her, you know it's Reese. So I was beyond impressed by how naturally Lexi captured all of those little details without making it feel like an impersonation. Beyond Elle's personality, one of my biggest concerns was fashion. Since the series is set in the '90s, I worried we'd end up with costumes that felt cheap or overly exaggerated in an attempt to scream "period piece." Thankfully, that couldn't have been further from the truth. Fashion is such an essential part of Elle's identity, and I was thrilled to see it treated as a priority. From tweed dresses and coordinated outfits with Bruiser to a cameo from Elle's iconic heart heels, every look felt thoughtfully designed. I'll definitely be needing a full costume lookbook after this. My favorite part of the series, however, was spotting all of the Legally Blonde Easter eggs. I was worried they would feel forced, included simply to check a box, but instead they came across as fun little surprises for longtime fans. Elle's first day of high school mirrors her first day at Harvard Law in several ways. (Spoiler alert: she forgot to do the summer reading...again.) Along the way, we also get glimpses of her signature fluffy pen and, of course, her love of pink, lavender-scented stationery. There are plenty of clever nods to Elle's future that longtime Legally Blonde fans will immediately appreciate. Overall, I couldn't be happier with how the series turned out. While nothing will ever top the original Legally Blonde for me, Elle absolutely holds its own. If you're worried the show strays too far from the version of Elle Woods we've come to know and love, don't be. If anything, it reinforces that Elle has always been the same loyal, determined, compassionate, and endlessly lovable person. She has a way of turning even her toughest critics into friends, all while making us laugh along the way. I already can't wait to see what Season 2 has in store.

The temperature in Fiji just reached an absolute boiling point, and whew, we are barely keeping up. Sunday night’s episode of Love Island USA Season 8 just proved that the producers still have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. Between a surprise celebrity guest host, some seriously messy challenge drama, and a game-changing double return, Love Island USA has everything you need before we all return to our mundane jobs on Monday. From the moment the episode started, the tension from the recent recoupling was still hanging heavy over the villa. Aniya wanted to leave and go home after KC humilated her but Melanie being a true ride or die gave her love. Enough to make her stay. The girls all made up from their heated exchange last episode. We appreciate the apology TiTi but we still voting you off the island. Melanie let Sincere know he has to step up while Zach told Kayda she can't be too mad about his shenanigans in Casa Amor because they aren't dating but then later in bed said those three little words: I love you. The stars (and future winners) Bryce and Trinity were the highlight. They talked about Casa for like a second but just wanted to be in each other's arms. Trinity asked Bryce if he still wanted to explore and you can guess his answer: Trinity also said she was done exploring so why hasn't Bryce set up a date yet to close things off officially? What are we waiting for? While the girls may have patched this up, the boys were still getting the cold shoulder. But leave it to the villa gods to break the ice with the ultimate distraction. Superstar Megan Thee Stallion strutted into the villa to host the "Revenge Is Sweet" cake-shaking challenge, forcing the islanders to compete. The challenge itself was a hilarious boys-versus-girls battle over three intense rounds. While the girls ultimately took home the overall victory, the real entertainment came from the individual face-offs. Megan eventually selected Kenzie Annis and Zach Georgiou to go head-to-head in a final cake-shaking showdown. They really went all out. Of course, a Love Island USA challenge is never just a game. Tensions flared when Melanie used her turn to directly target Corbin and KC. Meanwhile, KC had a bit of a rough night, completely missing a throw during the game and getting instantly called out by the girls. You love to see it. Still I Rise. Just when the islanders thought they could relax and wash off the frosting, Megan dropped the ultimate bombshell. Declaring, "You can't have your cake and eat it too—until now," she unveiled two massive cakes. Right on cue, dumped Casa Amor islanders Amora Robinson and Carl Schmidt jumped out. Megan revealed that America had been voting to give two dumped singles a second chance at love, and the villa absolutely lost it. Aniya and the rest of the girls cheered loudly for Carl, while the boys welcomed him back with open arms. Amora’s sudden comeback is bound to put immense stress on Melanie and Sincere, especially after Sincere's questionable behavior during Casa Amor. She was left single and vulnerable earlier in the night after KC chose to couple up with Titi Davis, so Carl might just be her perfect fresh start. Grief and Anger at Dragonstone The episode starts with Baela bringing Jace’s body back to Dragonstone. Rhaenyra is completely heartbroken over the death of her son. She also feels betrayed by her council and everyone else who let her get locked in her room while the battle happened. Later, Daemon returns to Dragonstone after hearing about Jace. He and Rhaenyra talk and realize that someone on the Green side must have claimed the dragon Sheepstealer. Rhaena Hides in the Vale Rhaena goes to Lady Jeyne Arryn in the Vale to ask for a place to hide. Rhaena feels incredibly guilty because she brought Sheepstealer to the Battle of the Gullet, which caused Jace's death. Lady Jeyne doesn't want to help because she knows Queen Rhaenyra will be looking for Rhaena. To convince her, Rhaena offers to give Lady Jeyne the dragon. All she asks is for Lady Jeyne to hide her and act like she isn't there. Lady Jeyne agrees, but tells Rhaena she never wants to see her again and will pretend she knows nothing about Rhaena or the dragon being in the Vale. Alyn Gets a New Name Out at sea, Alyn looks for Lord Corlys. When he finds him, Corlys tells Alyn that because High Tide is destroyed, he has nothing left to give him except his family name. Alyn happily accepts it. Fights at Harrenhal and on the Road Aemond goes to Harrenhal looking for Daemon and attacks the castle. Daemon isn't there, so Aemond kills the Lord of Harrenhal instead. During the fight, Aemond gets stabbed and begs Alys for help right before collapsing. Meanwhile, Larys and Aegon’s wagon gets attacked on the road, but they manage to escape. Trouble in the Red Keep In King's Landing, Lord Jasper finds out about Alicent’s secret plan to let Rhaenyra take the throne. He attacks Alicent in her room, but the Maester walks in just in time and has Jasper arrested. Following the plan, Alicent and Hyacinth tell the gate guards to let Rhaenyra’s dragon into the city when it arrives. Taking King's Landing When Rhaenyra and Daemon find out that Vhagar has left the city, they fly to King's Landing. They believe everything is going according to the deal Rhaenyra made with Alicent. They are let into the city, but they still have to fight guards inside the castle who are protecting the throne. The Gold Cloaks (city watch) march in to help Daemon, forcing the King's men to surrender. Rhaenyra Takes the Throne Rhaenyra demands that Aegon be brought to her, not knowing he has already left King's Landing. The Maester tells Daemon that Aegon fled. At the same time, Alicent and Hyacinth try to escape with Hyacinth's daughter. Daemon searches the cells and finds Alicent’s father, Otto Hightower, locked up. Rhaenyra knows she needs to publicly execute the traitors. Rhaenyra hesitates to kill Otto, but she ultimately goes through with it. Finally, she sits down on the Iron Throne. At the very end, guards push Alicent and Hyacinth into the throne room. Alicent sees her father's dead body. She and Rhaenyra look at each other, and it is clear that their secret alliance is now in deep trouble. The future is again uncertain with Aegon’s whereabouts unknown and Alicent’s father now dead at the hands of Rhaenyra. House of the Dragons is currently streaming on HBO Max.

From Daniel's unyielding verbal lashing of Armand, Lestat's cocaine-fueled encounter with an overzealous police officer, and the remarkable debut of "Big Boss," it's easy for the audience and the purchaser to be distracted—overlooking the ominous signs of something darker. Throughout the episode, Louis' growing, and alarming, fixation on Regina transforms from something therapeutic to something deeply unsettling, and Regina—with her street smarts and heightened vigilance—delivers a blow directly to his hidden intentions. And after reading Interview With the Vampire, she recognizes Louis doesn't just remind her of Claudia; he wants her to serve as a surrogate for his dead daughter. At the end of Season 2, it was deceptively simple to mistake Louis' "owning the night" for healing. But Regina strips away every excuse and straw-built wall that houses his immense grief—making this one of Jacob Anderson's most devastating scenes of the season. As viewers watch Louis enter a devil's bargain with Regina, the reunion fans have waited years for finally arrives in the form of blood showers and a flustered apology. Episode 4 pulls back the centuries-old curtains on Lestat's and Armand's complex hatred, attraction, and almost friendship. Sharing the same room for the first time since the trial brings out all the chaos, hilarity, and sexually charged energy audiences crave. Within the undeniable chemistry, Lestat and Armand move effortlessly between old resentment and reluctant admiration—to the point where Armand attends Lestat's concert as his suggestion. However, "Big Boss" digs into wounds Lestat has only recently found the courage to face, turning a rock concert into a public mockery that leaves Armand humiliated, furious, and only slightly turned on. As Lestat prances, jumps, and performs for a crowd of lustful fans, his costume is a direct homage to both his Harlequin and Claudia's baby doll outfit—boldly calling out Armand's turning father and daughter into clowns for his own entertainment and forcing him to confront his actions that caused permanent damage. But perhaps the most intriguing development in the episode comes after the performance: after the gunshot, the manifesto, and Lestat's existential crisis about Armand actually being right. After disappearing again for nine days, Gabriella hijacks Lestat's bus driver and delivers a line long-time Anne Rice fans may immediately recognize: "You called; I came." A callback to Akasha's words to Lestat in the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, directly reflecting how two of the most powerful women in Lestat's life appear when he's at his most emotionally vulnerable. This raises an interesting question about Gabriella's role in the series. Is she manipulating Lestat toward the very future Armand warned Daniel about for her own gain, or does she simply embody the very ideals that Akasha represents, making Lestat's love and submission to the cause easier because he recognizes his mother in Akasha's abuse? And if Lestat's narration on the tour bus about Armand causing more harm than Akasha is to be believed, then how far will he go to stop it?

The third episode of My Adventures with Superman Season 3, titled "All's Fair in Love and W.O.R.M.S.," manages to deliver an episode that balances absolute absurdity with genuinely heavy storytelling. Following up on the interpersonal tension of the early season, this chapter splits up the core group to deal with dating disasters, future anxieties, and an ending that completely changes the direction of the series. Fans tuning into Adult Swim or catching the next-day drop on Max were treated to a story that transitions from a literal musical number to the arrival of an iconic DC Comics hero. The Matchmaking Disaster: Jimmy's Giant Fumble The comedic backbone of the episode rests entirely on the ongoing romantic awkwardness between Jimmy Olsen and Kara Zor-El. After Jimmy panicked in the previous episode, telling Kara she should explore Earth's dating pool before locking things down with him, Kara takes the advice to heart. Whew, talk about instant regret. Kara immediately downloads the latest dating apps and sets up an eligible bachelor booth at a convention. To win her back, a deeply jealous Jimmy turns to a highly scientific matchmaking app known as W.O.R.M.S. (World Organization for Romantic Matchmaking Science). The app is run by Zazzala and Tazzala, reimagined, tech-winged versions of the classic DC villain Queen Bee. Naturally, Jimmy’s big date goes entirely off the rails. The episode leans heavily into Silver Age comic book absurdity, resulting in Jimmy physically transforming into a werewolf. It is goofy, it is wild, and it gives voice actor Ishmel Sahid some of the funniest, most unhinged line deliveries of the series so far. Lois Sings the Blues and Clark Dreams Big While Jimmy is dealing with a full moon, Clark Kent and Lois Lane are tackling their own relationship hurdles. Clark spends his Saturday tinkering with a miniature diorama of a farmhouse, visualizing a cozy, quiet future for the two of them outside of Metropolis. Instead of being charmed, Lois undergoes a full-blown panic attack about the concept of change and settling down. This culminates in a literal musical interlude where Lois and Kara break into song, with Kara pushing Lois to have faith in her relationship. Not the first time superheroes ended up in a musical. It works surprisingly well, highlighting the charmingly confident nature of the Kryptonians compared to their anxious human counterparts. Clark eventually grounds the situation by validating Lois’s fears, reminding everyone why they are the definitive version of this couple on television right now. Cyborg Superman and the Dark Horizon The episode does not just stick to romance. We get a chilling look at Hank Henshaw (Cyborg Superman), who is out in the streets trying to do hero work with terrifying, unstable brutality. When Henshaw aggressively attacks Intergang and goes too far with a minor criminal, Superman is forced to step in. Clark handles the villainous Silver Banshee with a disappointed, almost parental tone that convinces her to give up her stolen tech voluntarily, contrasting sharply with Henshaw’s violent methods. The Ultimate Cliffhanger: Enter Superboy The final moments completely flip the script on the lighthearted tone. A mysterious time-traveler from a dystopian future is sent to Metropolis.
