Healthcare Runaround  Flashbacks of the past eleven months for a father and daughter, Sergeant Billy Fitzgerald/Fitz and Livvy. His daughter presents with a persistent fever. The desperate father first meets Adam and Ingrid for a short time, but is referred to a pediatric specialist . Later, Sasha eight months ago, then two months ago with Watson.  ALL tell the father they can't see the daughter because they need to see someone who specializes in pediatrics. This is a reflection of current real-life healthcare. The 3Rs Present day, Watson tells Stephens he needs his help with a ballerina who has an unknown illness at BKMI. Watson is trying a new outlook on being a better person—Reflect, Recover and Renew , and tries to ease back on his workaholic tendencies. That philosophy will be tested.   Bomber at UHOP Ingrid and Beck come to the clinic after their group therapy. Both are more together now, almost as a couple. Beck’s there for an appointment with Watson. Stephens and Shinwell leave for BKMI to see the ballerina. The day starts out like a normal one for Watson, Shinwell and the Fellows. That all quickly changes. Beck picked the wrong time for an appointment because Fitz enters the Holmes Clinic demanding Watson see his daughter now. He's wearing a literal vest of bombs, and demonstrates its effect if his demands aren't met. He takes all in the clinic hostage , triggering the UHOP lockdown protocol. Livvy Finally  Sees the Doctor  Livvy is still running a fever and now has warts on her legs. She had been admitted.  Watson and the Fellows rush into action.  New development, Fitz isn't actually Livvy's biological father. Shinwell and Stephens find the biological father, Scott Morrison, to get more information on his personal history and the time he spent with Livvy’s mother before she died. Mary gets involved more in this dangerous situation as she's the only surgeon available to operate on Livvy after her spleen bursts. 3Rs Tested, Secret Revealed Adam reveals personal information to everyone.  Distracted, Beck sneaks up on Fitz. Things just continue happening at an accelerated pace. Watson had to toss his new 3Rs mantra to the side after Fitz accuses him of why Livvy's in such terrible condition.  Bomber’s Hurt and New Diagnosis  Another problem happens that gets Beck released. Beck later becomes an instant star for the news cameras, and loves the spotlight.   Fitz’s injury requires Watson's immediate attention to stop his bleeding.  Things continue their hectic pace. Livvy's surgery is a success. There's a new diagnosis, X-MEN Disease, a rare genetic disease. Another twist occurs as Fitz almost passed out from his wound. He's bleeding out, despite the whipstitches. There's a cure, but they need something from Livvy's father to make it work. Fitz was shocked at the latest discovery.   Watson earned that right to call him Fitz before they took him into surgery.  What is needed? What does cilantro have to do with anything? Who is Livvy's Real Dad? What secret did Adam reveal? Why is Shinwell angry? Is Beck dangerous? Will Ingrid stop seeing him? What happens to Fitz? Extreme Day Conclusion  Things were taken to the extreme , what a day for Watson, Shinwell and the Fellows. Watson promises Fitz that Livvy will be cared for and he will make sure of it.  Ingrid goes to see Beck, and what happens is unexpected. Beck is also researching one of the Fellows, why may be revealed later. Stephens is happy to see his twin brother safe, and overjoyed to see Sasha as he gives her a loving passionate kiss. This was a beautiful, touching scene.  A wild ride this latest episode was. Watson and his team work in a high stress environment, but a bomb threat adds more stress than normal. It was a great whirlwind of unexpected happenings. I gave this episode  4.9 Stars out 5.

Twelve years after Spartacus ended, creator Steven S. DeKnight reopens the arena with a thrilling twist: what if Ashur lived? As a longtime Spartacus  fan, I was among the millions glued to the screen when the series first aired. The loss of our original lead, Andy Whitfield, hit hard but when Liam McIntyre stepped into the role, the show didn’t miss a beat. Even when Lesley-Ann Brandt’s Naevia was replaced by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, the writing, emotion, and electrifying fight sequences carried the series through. After four unforgettable seasons, we said goodbye to the blood-soaked sands of Capua or so we thought. Now, twelve years after the series finale, creator Steven S. DeKnight drags us back into the arena with Spartacus: House of Ashur , a reimagining where the infamous villain Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) survives and slays Spartacus himself. Rewarded with his own ludus, Ashur steps into the title of Dominus and finds himself navigating a brutal world of politics, blood, and betrayal. The series introduces a host of new faces, but none as captivating as Tenika Davis’s Achillia, a Nubian slave who becomes the first woman gladiator in Ashur’s house. Still treated as less than equal, Ashur seeks to prove his worth by presenting Achillia as his secret weapon, a bold move that stirs friction among his gladiators. DeKnight handles her story (as a black woman slave) with care, exploring her struggle for identity and respect within a system built on subjugation. There’s a particularly poignant training scene with Doctore that stands out without crossing into spoiler territory. Spartacus: House of Ashur_Left to Right: Tenika Davis (“Achillia”) What works best here is DeKnight’s return to form: the world-building, the grit, and the unapologetic spectacle. House of Ashur  embraces diversity, adds new emotional layers, and still delivers the blood-and-sand brutality fans expect. For every drop of gore, there’s equal attention to the sensuality and romance that have always balanced the series’ intensity. Ladies, there will be a feast for your eyes as well. I’ll admit I was skeptical at first, centering the story on a hated villain felt risky but Nick E. Tarabay commands the screen. Against all odds, you might just find yourself rooting for Ashur… even knowing what we know. The pacing in these first five episodes can feel slow, but it’s clear DeKnight is rebuilding his empire brick by brick. There are nods to the original series and familiar echoes for longtime fans, but enough fresh energy to keep newcomers hooked. By the end of episode five, I was left craving more and trust me, you’ll want to see where Achillia’s path leads. No spoilers here, though. Verdict:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Spartacus: House of Ashur  is a worthy and thrilling resurrection of a beloved franchise. Blood, heart, and spectacle return to STARZ this December 5 with a two-episode premiere. Prepare for carnage and maybe a few surprises.

As a Texas Landman, Tommy Norris seems to do very little in the way of negotiating traditional land leases with legal landowners or researching local mineral rights. Never have we ever seen him spend time down at the old courthouse canvassing historical documents and ownership records to file quick claim deeds. No small tasks, mind you, but certainly more akin to what you might find on any given day in this line of work. In fact, the titular character of the popular Paramount+ series of the same name, spends very little measurable time actually out on the land, if you will. This season, we are more likely to find him behind the wheel of his F250 racing down the Texas interstate from one calamity to the next, putting out those proverbial fires started by the dysfunctionally co-dependent people with whom he shares this life. Played by Billy Bob Thornton with a deepening mix of charisma and introspection, Tommy Norris’ role onscreen, in the fictional reality of co-creator Taylor Sheridan, comes off more like a crisis management fixer who just happens to operate in the world of oil and gas. If only he could do the more mundane day-to-day of a true landman, I am certain he would not be near as rabid of a chain-smoker as he is now. As has become customary for the series from week to week, one call after another — whether from his family, his bosses, his employees, or a lawyer or two — all lead Tommy to the dumpster fire of the day. At this point, it’s a wonder why he even answers their calls.  Such is the case this week in “Almost A Home,” episode 3 of the series’ sophomore season. In it, Tommy is faced with balancing financial concerns of M Tex Oil, the behemoth of a company now in the hands of Cami Miller, played by Demi Moore, since the death of her husband in Season 1; keeping his son, Cooper (Jacob Lofland), from making deals with the devil to make a few bucks of his own out on the Patch; preparing for a family funeral that everyone appears reticent to attend; and a near-death experience for members of his work crew, who he sent on the very errand to inspect those neighboring property wells. Nevertheless, what continues to make these scenarios work each week rests squarely on the strength of character from Thornton. Embodying the seasoned landman navigating the chaos of one of the most dynamic and dangerous industries in the state, Thornton’s locked-in performance captures Tommy's reluctant hero determination, highlighting the ethical dilemmas and personal stakes involved in his work. You cannot help but root for him to make it to see another sunset, or at the very least, to hear him go off with a well-crafted, well-placed clapback. Priceless. Landman remains a testament to Thornton’s versatility as an actor, blending authenticity with his layered interpretation that continues to resonate with viewers.  What is also not too far off the mark is Moore’s portrayal of the Texas socialite coming to terms with the facade of a perfect life in the face of her husband’s untimely death. Largely relegated to a background day player in Season 1, Moore’s role has expanded substantially this go-round as the oil widow-turned-heiress learning to assert her power in the male-dominated industry that is oil and gas. Never underestimate a Texas woman who is fueled by grief. No doubt, in this life, she has already learned to channel vulnerability into fanning the flames of her existence.  With noted substance added to the character this season, Moore continues to highlight Cami as a sophisticated, highly intelligent, deceptively strong woman. In an unexpected scene that gathers together Tommy, his newfound nemesis, drug cartel boss and Cooper Norris’ secret backer, Gallino, played by Andy Garcia, and their wives, Cami delivers an impassioned reminder to the couples to cherish what they have in that moment, regardless of its imperfections. For, life has an uncanny way of reminding you that there is an expiration date to it all. To have watched Moore showcase her versatility across her 40-year career playing ambitious, manipulative, rebellious, some-what flawed women, it is nice to see her in this new role as the venerable matriarch — commanding, impressive, and reverent.  Not to mention, Moore remains the queen of the most beautiful single tear eyes on screen. In them, she carries the poignant stories of love and loss, to near perfection. The business of oil in Texas is complex and often misunderstood, much like the rich cast of characters who operate in it on the daily.  While Landman’s sneak peek into this world can be overzealous in those characterizations, at times, the cultural richness of Texas the series showcases, from the vast western landscapes to the local communities affected by the oil economy, captures the unique lifestyle of individuals who live and work in this unforgiving environment.
