What to Watch Monday, September 28: ‘All American’ Series Finale, ‘Line of Fire’ & Eagles-Bears

Monday has one goodbye that has been eight seasons in the making. All American airs its series finale tonight at 8 PM ET on The CW, bringing the story that began with Spencer James back in 2018 to its conclusion. NBC, meanwhile, settles into the regular Monday rhythm for The Voice and Line of Fire, while ABC and ESPN hand the night over to the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.

There's more happening outside the broadcast networks, too. High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam reaches its penultimate episode on TNT, Jeff Lewis returns to Bravo with the series premiere of Still Flipping Out, and Hulu has the Season 14 finale of Futurama. So while Monday isn't overflowing with premieres, there are several actual TV events tonight and one of them requires saying goodbye to the Beverly and Crenshaw crew for good.

TV Cave Top Pick: All American Says Goodbye

All American ends tonight at 8 PM ET on The CW with Season 8, Episode 13, “To Live and Die in L.A.” The finale closes out a run that began on October 10, 2018 and eventually grew from Spencer James' journey between Crenshaw and Beverly Hills into an ensemble story spanning football, friendships, relationships, careers and a whole lot of growing up.

The final season has spent its closing stretch reconnecting the newer generation with the characters who built the series, and tonight puts Spencer back at the center as Olivia prepares for the arrival of their twins. There have been championships, weddings, heartbreaks and enough dramatic football games to make every fourth quarter feel like somebody's entire future depended on it, but this really is the end now. After eight seasons, All American gets one last night under the Friday-night lights even if, technically, we're watching on a Monday.

Line of Fire Moves Into Episode 2

After last week's premiere, Line of Fire returns at 10 PM ET on NBC with “A Bigger Picture.” The second episode puts the FBI and U.S. Marshals on opposite sides of a fugitive hunt while a deadly bank robbery makes an already messy jurisdictional fight considerably worse. Jane and Clare find themselves caught between their working relationship and their respective agencies, while Micah continues settling into his Secret Service role.

The premiere introduced a family where nearly everyone works somewhere in federal law enforcement, which is already a recipe for awkward dinners before you start putting them on competing sides of an investigation. Episode 2 gets to move beyond all the introductions and dig into the part of the premise that could make Line of Fire especially fun: these people don't get to leave their professional conflicts at the office because the person driving them crazy at work may also be sitting across the table at Thanksgiving.

Eagles-Bears Take Monday Night Football

The Philadelphia Eagles visit the Chicago Bears at 8:15 PM ET on ABC and ESPN, giving Monday a particularly relevant game for East Coast viewers. The matchup comes from Soldier Field and closes Week 3 of the NFL season.

The Bears won the teams' most recent meeting in November 2025, while Philadelphia enters tonight looking to keep building after opening its season with a narrow win over Washington. And if you're trying to watch the All American finale and the Eagles simultaneously, congratulations: television has apparently decided football drama should exist on both your screens tonight.

High Value Target Nears the End

High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam airs its penultimate episode at 9 PM ET on TNT, with “The Reckoning” moving the story into the aftermath of Saddam Hussein's capture and interrogation. Only one episode remains after tonight, with the eight-part limited series concluding Sunday, October 4.

The series has steadily shifted from the hunt itself toward John Nixon's growing concerns about what comes next, making these final episodes less about whether Saddam will be found and more about what the United States actually learned once he was. With the finale only days away, tonight is where those questions start demanding answers.

Between the end of All American, another Line of Fire, The Voice, High Value Target, Jeff Lewis returning to Bravo and Eagles-Bears, Monday has more going on than it initially appears. But after eight seasons and 132 episodes, Crenshaw gets the sentimental win tonight. Get the tissues ready — The CW is finally turning off those stadium lights.
