‘Sheriff Country’ Season 2 Preview: Mickey Faces a Dangerous New Threat

Sheriff Country is heading back to Edgewater for Season 2, and Mickey Fox is barely getting a chance to catch her breath before both her personal and professional worlds start demanding attention.

The Season 2 premiere, “Cyclone,” finds Mickey struggling to process what CBS describes as a shocking revelation about her family. And considering this is the Fox family we’re talking about, complicated family history arriving at the worst possible moment feels pretty much on brand.

Unfortunately, Mickey doesn’t exactly have the luxury of shutting off her phone and dealing with one crisis at a time.

While trying to make sense of what she has learned, Mickey races to help a troubled young woman whose situation leads her toward a dangerous criminal operation. What initially begins as one case soon points toward something much bigger, with CBS teasing a growing threat that could affect all of Edgewater.

That certainly sounds like Mickey’s quiet week has officially been canceled.

The premiere will also introduce Ben McKenzie as Sheriff Wade, a neighboring sheriff called in to assist Mickey. CBS is already teasing that Wade has a few secrets of his own, so something tells us this isn’t going to be as simple as two sheriffs joining forces and calling it a day.

And the trouble won’t disappear once the premiere ends. Season 2 Episode 2, “Family Trust,” sends Mickey deeper into a dangerous trafficking investigation, leading to a high-stakes undercover operation that puts her trust in Wes and Eva to the test. Elsewhere, a breakthrough in a decades-old cold case forces another family to confront a secret that has been buried for years. Apparently Edgewater decided secrets were going to be the theme this season.

Between a major family revelation, an expanding criminal threat, new faces and more than a few secrets waiting to surface, Sheriff Country has plenty lined up as it begins its sophomore season.

Mickey has handled more than her share of complicated situations already, but Season 2 looks ready to remind her that in Edgewater, the cases that hit closest to home are usually the ones that refuse to stay simple.
