Sauron is getting a little too comfortable with the idea of ruling Middle-earth, and judging by the newly released trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3, somebody better do something about it before we're all taking orders from the Dark Lord.

Prime Video dropped the official trailer on Wednesday, October 21, giving fans a breathtaking and downright terrifying look at what's coming when the fantasy series returns November 11. There are massive armies, dangerous creatures, familiar faces, and enough destruction to make it clear that Middle-earth is running out of time.

And at the center of all this chaos? Sauron, of course, who has apparently decided that conquering nearly an entire continent isn't enough unless he has a particularly powerful piece of jewelry to go with it.

Sauron Is Ready to Rule Them All

Season 3 jumps five years beyond the fall of Eregion, and things have gotten considerably worse for everyone who isn't on Sauron's side. His armies have swept across Middle-earth, leaving only a handful of territories standing between him and complete domination.

The Elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell remain protected by their Three Rings, while the Dwarves have retreated deep into Khazad-dûm. Meanwhile, Sauron has established himself in Mordor, where his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr serves as the headquarters for his increasingly dangerous ambitions.

But the Dark Lord isn't satisfied with simply winning battles. He's determined to forge the One Ring, a weapon that could give him the power to bend the remaining peoples of Middle-earth to his will.

Charlie Vickers looks particularly menacing in the new footage, portraying a Sauron who no longer seems especially interested in hiding behind charming disguises. He's embracing his role as the ultimate villain, and the trailer makes it clear that his enemies are facing something considerably more dangerous than political manipulation. We knew this man was trouble, but now he's got an army, a tower, and a jewelry-making project that could ruin everybody's lives.

Galadriel's Husband Returns, and Things Could Get Awkward

While Sauron prepares his campaign for domination, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) has some unexpected personal drama waiting for her. The trailer features the return of her long-lost husband, Celeborn, portrayed by Jamie Campbell Bower.

And considering Galadriel's complicated history with Sauron, this reunion could get interesting very quickly.

One particularly intriguing moment suggests Celeborn knows there's something Galadriel hasn't told him, while the footage revisits her troubling connection to the Dark Lord. Exactly how that relationship will affect her marriage remains to be seen, but the series certainly isn't shying away from exploring the emotional fallout.

Because imagine finally reuniting with your husband after years apart and having to explain that you developed an extremely complicated relationship with the man currently trying to conquer Middle-earth. That's not exactly the romantic homecoming anyone had in mind.

Dragons, Balrogs and Terrifying New Enemies

If Sauron himself wasn't intimidating enough, Season 3 is bringing an assortment of creatures that should make everyone seriously reconsider their travel plans.

The trailer features dragons, the Balrog, and the Nazgnagôl, Sauron's terrifying Ring-servants who roam Middle-earth clad in black armor. Their arrival offers another glimpse of the darkness spreading across the world as the future Ringwraiths become part of the story.

Simon Pegg joins the production as the voice of the Balrog, adding another recognizable name to the growing cast.

Meanwhile, the Dwarves are dealing with tensions inside Khazad-dûm, Númenor is moving toward civil war, and Gandalf (Daniel Weyman) faces his own challenges in Rhûn as he attempts to push back against the forces of darkness.

In other words, absolutely nobody is having a good time. Between the political infighting, ancient monsters, and Sauron's increasingly successful conquest, Middle-earth is going to need more than a few inspirational speeches to get through this.

When Does The Rings of Power Season 3 Premiere?

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres Wednesday, November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video, with an eight-episode season arriving across three weeks.

The first four episodes will be released November 11, followed by Episodes 5 and 6 on November 18. The final two episodes will arrive November 25, bringing the season to a close just before Thanksgiving. Returning cast members include Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, Robert Aramayo, Daniel Weyman, Owain Arthur, Sophia Nomvete, and Maxim Baldry, among others.

The new trailer makes one thing perfectly clear: the days of quietly building alliances and wondering what Sauron might do next are over. He's making his move, the One Ring is becoming a reality, and the people of Middle-earth are facing a war that could determine the future of their entire world.

And while we already know where Sauron's ambitions eventually lead in Tolkien's larger mythology, watching everyone attempt to stop him before it's too late should make for one incredibly chaotic season.
