Sterling Point Review: Prime Video's New Teen Drama Is Your Next Summer Binge

Prime’s Newest Original Sterling Point is a Hit!

Looking for your next summer TV show? Prime just released Sterling Point, a teen drama that will have you binge-watching and begging for a second season.

The series follows Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin), whose life is turned upside down when she learns she has inherited a mysterious island in Canada from her estranged grandfather. Realizing she doesn’t know her family nearly as well as she thought, Annie sets off to the island, only to uncover decades-old secrets. Between family mysteries, a complicated love triangle, and the responsibility of suddenly owning an island, Annie’s summer becomes far more complicated than she ever imagined.

It’s no secret that Prime has been on a roll with book-to-screen adaptations, so seeing an original series with no source material behind it was especially exciting. While the platform hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to renewing its original shows, I’d be shocked if Sterling Point ended up with the same fate. Less than a day after its release, it had already started taking over the internet.

The ensemble cast is one of the show's biggest strengths. In fact, it’s some of the best ensemble work I’ve seen since Off Campus debuted in May. There wasn’t a single character whose storyline I wasn’t invested in, and the chemistry between the cast had me hooked from the start.

Prime has a knack for creating found-family dynamics that feel genuine. You find yourself rooting for every character to get a happy ending, even the ones who don’t make the best first impression. Each character is given a meaningful arc that naturally contributes to the larger story, and nothing feels like it exists solely to move the plot forward.

Too often, teen dramas force romances, friendships, or side characters onto viewers simply to create more drama. Sterling Point avoids that trap. Every new secret and every twist felt earned, making it nearly impossible to stop watching.

At first, I assumed we were getting another teen drama centered primarily around romance. While the romantic storylines are compelling, the heart of the series is family.

Whether it’s finding your biological family or creating one of your own, Annie and Ramona’s relationship became my favorite part of the show. Despite their rocky beginning, they effortlessly grow into sisters, and some of the series’ best moments come from watching that bond develop. Whether they’re gossiping about crushes or brushing each other’s hair, their relationship feels authentic and heartfelt.

The chemistry between Ella Rubin and Amélie Hoeferle was undeniable, and I sincerely hope we get to see more of their playful dynamic if the series is renewed.

Of course, the season leaves us with plenty of unanswered questions. Annie’s twin brother Connor has contacted his biological mother, Ramona is headed to New York, and several romantic storylines remain unresolved back in Sterling Point.

If the show gets a second season, there’s more than enough story left to tell as Annie and Ramona continue navigating their newly discovered family.

If you’re looking for a summer series filled with secrets, romance, found family, and breathtaking Canadian scenery, Sterling Point deserves a spot at the top of your watchlist.
