‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Christmas Special Sets November 27 Premiere With Lewis Black as Santa

Plankton is at it again, but this time, the Krabby Patty secret formula isn't his target. He's setting his sights on something a little bigger: Christmas itself! Nickelodeon is bringing some holiday chaos to Bikini Bottom with the new hour-long SpongeBob SquarePants special, "Merry Christmas, Mr. Plankton," premiering Friday, November 27.
The special airs from 5–6 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon and will also be available to stream the same day on Paramount+. And if Plankton taking over the North Pole wasn't enough, comedian Lewis Black is joining the holiday festivities as the voice of Santa Claus.
Plankton Is Coming for Christmas
In "Merry Christmas, Mr. Plankton," SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, and an unlikely group of friends must join forces when Plankton takes control of the North Pole. Considering the trouble he causes just trying to steal a burger recipe, letting him anywhere near Santa's workshop sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
The special promises a festive adventure filled with the kind of ridiculous situations that have made SpongeBob SquarePants a favorite for generations. And with Lewis Black voicing Santa, we're particularly curious to see how the big guy handles Plankton's latest scheme.
The Patrick Star Show Joins the Holiday Fun
The Christmas festivities won't end when SpongeBob saves the day. A brand-new episode of The Patrick Star Show, titled "Snowbound! A Star Family Christmas," premieres immediately afterward at 6 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon.
This time, the Star family finds itself snowbound at home, where they pass the time sharing Christmas stories. Knowing Patrick and his family, we wouldn't expect anything resembling a normal holiday gathering. The new holiday special joins Paramount+'s growing collection of SpongeBob programming, including The Patrick Star Show, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, and the original animated series.
"Merry Christmas, Mr. Plankton" premieres Friday, November 27, at 5 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon and streams the same day on Paramount+.
