Tuesday and Wednesday Nights Are Looking Pretty Good
ABC isn't wasting any time bringing back its biggest crime dramas. Will Trent returns for Season 5 on January 5, followed by High Potential Season 3, reuniting two of the network's most popular investigative series on the same night.
Wednesday brings a different kind of action when The Rookie returns for Season 9 alongside The Rookie: North. The new spinoff stars Jay Ellis as Alex Holland, a man who decides to become a police officer after a violent home invasion pushes him to rethink his life. His new career takes him to Washington state's Pierce County, where being the new guy comes with challenges that go well beyond learning the ropes.
Meanwhile, Shifting Gears kicks off its third season with two episodes on January 6, giving comedy fans something to enjoy before the crime dramas take over.
High Potential Gets the Super Bowl Spotlight
One of the biggest surprises on ABC's schedule is the decision to give High Potential the coveted post-Super Bowl slot on February 14. That's a major opportunity for the Kaitlin Olson-led drama to reach an even larger audience, and it shows just how much confidence ABC has in the series.
The network is also bringing back its Thursday lineup on January 7, with 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, and Grey's Anatomy returning from their midseason breaks. And for fans of Abbott Elementary, the teachers are back in session on January 13.
ABC's unscripted slate also has a busy start to the year. American Idol celebrates its 25th season in February, while The Bachelor returns in March, and the network prepares to broadcast the Grammys, Super Bowl LXI, and the Oscars.
There's plenty coming to ABC in 2027, and between returning favorites, new spinoffs, and major television events, the network is making sure fans have more than enough reasons to keep their schedules clear.
