Netflix Renews The Night Agent for Season 4 Just Weeks After Season 3

Netflix has officially greenlit The Night Agent for Season 4, proving that as long as Gabriel Basso keeps running through corridors with a look of mild constipation and extreme competence, we’re going to keep watching.

The announcement comes today, March 6, 2026, just a fortnight after Season 3 dropped and collectively ruined the sleep schedules of millions. It’s a bold move for the streamer, but considering the show’s track record of glued-to-the-screen viewership, it’s about as surprising as a plot twist involving a mole in the White House.

The Circus Moves to the City of Angels

In a massive shift for the production, showrunner Shawn Ryan is packing up the tactical gear and moving the operation to Los Angeles. While the show has bounced from Vancouver to New York and even Istanbul, Season 4 will call Southern California home. This isn’t just a change of scenery; it’s a logistical masterstroke. Sony Pictures Television secured a cool $31.6 million tax credit from the state of California, which basically means Peter Sutherland is being subsidized by the taxpayers to take down more deep-state conspiracies.

But don’t expect Peter to be lounging in Malibu. Ryan has teased that the Los Angeles setting will explore a "much bigger level" of power and corruption than New York, focusing on the unique machinery of the West Coast rather than the typical Hollywood tropes.

New Partners and New Problems

Season 3 left us with a few dangling threads and a lot of questions about the ethics of the Night Action program. Season 4 is reportedly set to tackle the morality of the program head-on. Is Peter a hero, or just a very high-functioning tool for a broken system?

The biggest news for the Sutherland stans? Peter is getting a brand-new partner. After the high-stakes finale of Season 3, the seat next to him in the proverbial (and literal) getaway car is open. The casting hasn't been announced yet, but expect a fresh face to challenge Peter’s "lone wolf" tendencies.

Why the Quick Renewal Matters

Netflix isn't usually this twitchy with the "renew" button unless the numbers are astronomical. Season 3 debuted at No. 2 globally and actually grew its audience in week two, hitting 9.9 million views. With a writers' room that’s been secretly operational since late 2025, the gap between seasons should be mercifully short. Filming is expected to kick off by late May 2026 to satisfy those tax credit requirements.

Sure, it’s a bit formulaic, and yes, Peter Sutherland has more lives than a warehouse full of cats, but it’s the kind of high-octane junk food TV that Netflix does better than anyone else.

The Night Action phone is ringing again, and honestly? We’re probably going to pick it up.

What do you think of the move to LA—will Peter Sutherland fit in with the West Coast elite, or is he destined for more dark alleys? Let us know in the comments!
