Netflix Renews ‘Crew Girl’ for Season 2 After Breakout Debut

Crew Girl is officially getting back in the boat.

Netflix has renewed its new YA drama for Season 2, just 12 days after the series made its debut on September 10. The renewal comes after Crew Girl entered Netflix’s English TV Top 10 and remained there following its launch, giving fans a pretty quick answer about whether Teagan Tao’s story would continue.

And considering where Season 1 left things, that answer was definitely needed. Crew Girl stars Miku Martineau as Teagan, a gifted teenage rower whose life is turned upside down after her father becomes involved in an embezzlement scandal. Teagan and her mother, Ella, relocate to Eagles Cove, where Teagan enrolls at the prestigious Easton Prep and quickly discovers the school does not have a girls’ rowing team.

Instead, she ends up becoming the coxswain for Easton Prep’s boys’ crew team, placing her right in the middle of competition, rivalries and, naturally, a very messy love triangle involving Josh Regis and Cam Dillinger. By the end of Season 1, the show had opened up even more possibilities for its sophomore season. Britney started a girls’ rowing team, potentially giving Teagan another choice to make about where she belongs, while her complicated feelings for Josh and Cam were far from resolved. Netflix is already teasing both storylines as questions Season 2 could explore.

Martineau also sounds more than ready to return. In Netflix’s renewal announcement, the actress teased that there is still plenty left to explore with the characters, romances and rowing team, promising another drama-filled season.

Sam Braun and Kyle Clark are expected to continue as Josh and Cam alongside the rest of the Easton Prep crew. The first season also stars Thomas Cadrot as Coach Hayden, Jessica Paré as Ella Emerson-Tao and Connor Paton as Ryder Regis.

Netflix has not announced a premiere date for Season 2 yet, which makes sense considering the renewal is fresh off the presses. Still, fans can officially stop wondering whether that Season 1 finale was the end of Teagan’s story. It wasn’t.

All eight episodes of Crew Girl Season 1 are streaming now on Netflix, with Season 2 officially on the way.
