‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Will End With Season 3 at Disney+

Marvel’s Man Without Fear is heading toward another ending.

Daredevil: Born Again will officially conclude with its upcoming third season on Disney+, bringing the latest chapter of Charlie Cox’s run as Matt Murdock to a close. The news comes after Season 3 had already completed production, following its early renewal well before Season 2 premiered.

Cox returned as Matt after previously leading Netflix’s Daredevil for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. Born Again brought him fully into the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, with Deborah Ann Woll also returning as Karen Page and several familiar faces from Marvel’s former Netflix lineup gradually making their way back into the story.

And Season 3 certainly isn’t planning to quietly walk out the door. Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter are expected back as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, while Finn Jones will reprise his role as Danny Rand, better known as Iron Fist. Their returns reunite much of the original Defenders lineup, making the final season feel increasingly like Marvel is bringing this corner of its television universe full circle.

Season 2 left Matt in one heck of a situation after he publicly revealed that he was Daredevil during his efforts to bring Fisk down. Matt ultimately ended up behind bars, while Fisk escaped and Luke Cage reunited with Jessica Jones, laying the groundwork for a much bigger story heading into Season 3.

The ending also comes with another change behind the scenes. Dario Scardapane, who became showrunner during the massive creative overhaul that reshaped Born Again before its first season premiered, will not continue with Marvel after Season 3. His contract was not renewed, according to reports.

Still, “canceled” probably isn’t the right word for this one. Season 3 was already conceived as part of the ongoing Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk story, and Scardapane previously talked about the two characters moving toward an inevitable conclusion. Now we know that conclusion really is coming.

And chile, Marvel better make it count. After Netflix’s original Daredevil ended before fans were ready to let Matt Murdock go, Born Again gave Cox, D’Onofrio and several members of the wider Defenders universe another shot. If Season 3 truly brings those characters together while finishing the Matt-versus-Fisk story, at least this time Daredevil has the opportunity to leave on an actual ending instead of another unfinished chapter.

Disney+ has not yet announced an official premiere date for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.
