Marvin Jones III Joins Spider-Man: Brand New Day as Tombstone the Crime Boss

A person with a beard and a neutral expression, wearing a black jacket, is set against a dark background.

Spider Man Brand New Day is already buzzing with A-list casting, a fresh direction for Peter Parker, and now, a familiar face from the Spider Verse universe is officially stepping into live action. That’s right — Marvin Jones III is trading his animated street cred for the gritty real world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reprising his role as Tombstone. If you’re not hyped yet, you’re probably still watching Morbius on repeat.

Here’s everything you need to know about Marvin Jones III’s involvement, why Tombstone is a big deal, and what this means for the next chapter of our friendly neighborhood Spider Man.

Marvin Jones III Is Tombstone and He’s Not Here to Play

You may know Marvin Jones III from his intense performance as Tobias Whale in CW’s Black Lightning. But long before he was electrifying Freeland, he voiced the hardened gangster Tombstone in the Oscar winning Spider Man Into the Spider Verse. Now, he’s bringing that cold charisma to live action in Spider Man Brand New Day and honestly, the MCU just got a lot more intimidating.

Tombstone — real name Lonnie Lincoln — is no street-level thug. He’s an albino mob boss with unbreakable skin, super strength, and the kind of deadpan menace that makes even the Kingpin blink twice. Marvel is clearly stacking the villain roster for this next outing and Tombstone is the muscle you don’t want to mess with.

What Is Spider-Man :Brand New Day Anyway

Slated for a July 2026 release, Spider Man Brand New Day is the official follow up to No Way Home and the start of what Tom Holland calls a total rebirth. Inspired by the comic arc of the same name, this film is expected to give Peter Parker a clean slate — no Stark tech, no public identity, no multiverse mess. Just good old spider drama with new enemies, old consequences, and maybe some gritty New York street politics.

Why Tombstone’s Arrival Matters

Bringing in Tombstone means Marvel is leaning into the more grounded criminal underworld of Spider-Man lore. While previous films focused on aliens and interdimensional chaos, Brand New Day seems ready to get its hands dirty. With Marvin Jones III in the role, we can expect a villain who is both physically threatening and emotionally complex. He doesn’t just punch hard — he punches with purpose.

Marvin Jones III joining Spider Man Brand New Day as Tombstone is a casting win for the MCU and a sign that this movie might actually dig into some of the darker corners of Spider Man’s world. It also raises a juicy question — will we see other characters from Into the Spider Verse pop up in live action too

Whatever happens, one thing’s for sure. Tombstone is coming. And he’s not here to be anyone’s side quest.

Stay tuned, stay speculative, and for the love of J Jonah Jameson, stop sleeping on the street level villains.
