Episode 7 is here and it’s another can’t miss one! The fallout of the Tender exposé has begun and it doesn’t seem like it’s slowing down anytime soon. We’re inching closer to the Season Finale, so, I’m nervous to see where that will leave us.
We open with Yas and Henry arguing about Whitney’s letter to him about letting him take the fall for what happens at Tender. Yasmin is trying to get through to Henry and make him understand that not only is this serious, but, if Whitney’s threats are substantial, then they will be left with absolutely nothing. She asks him about where his other funds are tied up & he tells her that they are tied up in Tender stocks. She seems absolutely shocked at how he’s freaking out at this and also being so nonchalant at the same time. Marisa’s acting in this scene was absolutely top notch, she never fails to amaze me with her acting ability and the way she continues to deliver week after week and season after season. Kit is also bouncing off her well and they’re great scene partners.
Meanwhile, Sweetpea, Harper, and Kwabena at SternTao talking about the increase in Tender stocks and what it’s looking like for them. More importantly, how they can figure out a way to take them down through an audit of the company. As we get closer and closer to the finale, I still don’t know who is going to come out on top in all of this. I feel like SternTao is really fighting to get and keep the upper hand, but we’ve also seen how crazy Whitney is and the lengths he is willing to manipulate and use people to keep his power and get what he wants. Also, Yasmin and Henry are in the midst of all this too, and I wouldn’t put it past Henry to find a way to throw everyone under the bus to keep himself, and by extension, Whitney, safe from the impact of this. We also see Jennifer talking to Yasmin about how to control the narrative and figure out a way to spin it so that she can specifically be safe this episode. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m on the edge of my seat.
We also see that Tender is wanting to take a shot at Pierpoint. If they take them over, it will allow them to delay their audit process and iron out the inaccuracies and fraud in the business currently. Whitney is planning to use the AGM to make the announcement of the hostile takeover of Pierpoint. Whitney goes to leave his hotel room and someone grabs him at ginpoint to target him. It turns out that he has some sort of mafia affiliation and they are after him. Later, Henry twists Whitney’s arm to get him to speak at AMG, but we can tell that Whitney has finally met his match and he is starting to spin out. Henry is freaking out and trying to find Whitney and finds out that Yasmin has put in notice of her resignation.
Finally, we get to Harper and Yasmin…and after all this time, we finally get some sort of confirmation of their care and love for each other. I think their relationship is one of the strongest and most focal points of the show. Whether you see it as platonic or romantic, you cannot deny the intensity and depth of their journey and connection since the first episode of Season 1.
Yasmin is still trying to figure out her next move so that she can control the narrative and jump ship; naturally, she ends up going to the source and coming to see Harper. While talking, Yasmin encourages Harper to find someone who will support and write Harper’s takedown of Tender so that they can use it to both have the upper hand. Harper and Yasmin are at the bar together and reminisce on their early days at what their relationship means to each of them. They end up on the dance floor and share a kiss. I don’t know what that kiss means for each of them going forward, but it was nice to see that progression and their raw emotions with each other. It especially felt nice since they’ve spent most of this season apart from one another.
Overall, another really amazing episode of Industry this week. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in next week’s finale, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t be as crazy as I’m imagining it will be.
I would give this episode 4.5/5 stars.
