Ghosts Halloween Special Recap: Hetty's Sister Arrives and Pete's Fate Is Revealed

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Ghosts Season 6's two-part Halloween special, "Halloween 6: The Mirror."
Halloween at Woodstone Mansion is never going to be a quiet affair, but Ghosts takes things to another level with its two-part special, "Halloween 6: The Mirror." Between a haunted mirror, some serious sibling drama, a séance, and one shocking return, the residents of Woodstone have plenty to deal with. And just when it looks like everyone might finally get a happy ending, the episode throws another major curveball.
With Sam away filming her movie, Kyle is helping Jay keep the spirits of Woodstone under control. Considering what these ghosts get up to on a normal day, keeping them out of trouble on Halloween was always going to be a tall order.
Mirror, Mirror, Who's Trapped Inside?
The trouble begins when Jay and Kyle accidentally break a mirror. Jay purchases what he believes is a replacement from an antique shop, but there's one rather important detail nobody knows about: the mirror is home to Margaret, Hetty's estranged sister.
Margaret has been trapped inside the mirror, and Halloween presents the perfect opportunity to change her circumstances. With the veil between the living and spirit worlds thinner than usual, Margaret tricks Hetty into taking her place, leaving Hetty trapped while her sister enjoys some newfound freedom.
It doesn't take long to discover that these sisters have some serious unresolved issues. Hetty has held a grudge against Margaret for telling their father about her forbidden romance with a painter. The betrayal destroyed their relationship, and even death hasn't made Hetty any more forgiving. Margaret's arrival gives us another glimpse into Hetty's past, revealing that family drama certainly didn't begin when she became a ghost.
Even after all these years, the hurt between the sisters remains very real.Margaret's arrival gives us another glimpse into Hetty's past, revealing that family drama certainly didn't begin when she became a ghost. Even after all these years, the hurt between the sisters remains very real.

The Ghosts Have a Plan to Bring Pete Back
While Hetty is dealing with her sister, the rest of Woodstone is still struggling with Pete's disappearance. The ghosts decide a séance might be their best chance of bringing him home, but there's one small problem. Sass reveals that Pete left behind a DNS, otherwise known as a "Do Not Séance." Pete was concerned that revealing too much about the afterlife could have serious consequences, including the possibility of melting. Leave it to Pete to have instructions prepared for a supernatural emergency.
Alberta eventually agrees to stop the séance. Pete's absence has clearly been weighing on the household, and the group's determination to honor his wishes, shows just how much he means to them. These ghosts might spend plenty of time driving each other crazy, but when one of their own is missing, they come together.
Bela's Halloween Party Takes an Unexpected Turn
Meanwhile, Jay's sister Bela has plans of her own. She throws a Halloween party at Woodstone, hoping to get closer to Evan, a guy from her gym she's been crushing on. Unfortunately, things don't go according to plan. Instead of leaving the party with Bela, Evan ends up leaving with Amanda, one of Jay's restaurant employees. Talk about a Halloween nightmare that doesn't involve anything supernatural!
While the ghosts are dealing with centuries-old family grudges and supernatural mysteries, Bela is having a very modern dating disaster. Her Halloween party might not deliver the romance she hoped for, but it certainly adds another helping of chaos to an already eventful night.
Hetty and Margaret Finally Face the Truth
Back in the mirror drama, things take another turn when Jay and Mark attempt to move the haunted object. They accidentally drop it, shattering the mirror and creating an even bigger problem. Jay and Kyle manage to put the pieces back together, and that's when Hetty remembers something important about her past. Through the mirror's magic, she realizes Margaret was actually in love with the painter before Hetty became involved with him.
That revelation changes everything between the sisters. Hetty has spent years remembering Margaret as the person who betrayed her, but the truth reveals a much more complicated situation. Margaret had her own heartbreak to contend with, and neither sister ever fully understood what the other had experienced.
Thankfully, the sisters finally find their way toward forgiveness. Rather than abandoning the mirror, Margaret decides to remain inside it, recognizing that her unusual circumstances give her the ability to travel beyond the ghost boundary.
Her decision leads to a rather delightful ending when she winds up in Paris with Trevor's daughter, Abby. After spending so long trapped in one place, Margaret finally gets to experience the city she's always dreamed of visiting. Not a bad way to spend the afterlife!

Pete Returns, But There's a Major Problem
Just when it seems Woodstone might finally be settling down, the ghosts gather to mark the anniversary of Pete's death. With their friend still missing, they observe a moment of silence in his honor, remembering someone who has become such an important part of their afterlives.
And then, in true Ghosts fashion, Pete suddenly returns! After all the uncertainty surrounding his disappearance, his arrival should be the happy reunion everyone has been waiting for. Unfortunately, there's a catch, and it's a big one.
Pete has amnesia and doesn't remember anyone. The same ghosts who were desperate to bring their friend home are now faced with a completely different problem. Pete is back at Woodstone, but the memories and relationships that made him such an important part of the household appear to be gone. It's a heartbreaking twist for a character who has always been one of the most lovable members of the group.
Final Thoughts
Ghosts delivers a Halloween special that combines its signature supernatural absurdity with some surprisingly emotional family moments. Hetty and Margaret's story offers an entertaining look at their complicated history, while the mirror introduces another interesting wrinkle to the show's ever-expanding ghost mythology.
The special also makes good use of Kyle stepping in during Sam's absence, especially with Jay still needing someone who can communicate directly with the mansion's residents. Between Bela's romantic disappointment and the ghosts' determination to honor Pete, there is plenty happening throughout Woodstone.
But it's that final twist that really changes everything. Pete's return should have been a reason to celebrate, yet his sudden memory loss raises more questions than answers. The ghosts got their friend back, but whether they'll get the Pete they remember remains to be seen.
