St. Denis Medical Season 3 Review: The Laughs Keep Coming

Three seasons in, St. Denis Medical continues to prove why it's one of the funniest comedies on television. The NBC workplace comedy returns without missing a beat, delivering sharp writing, genuine belly laughs, and the same lovable chaos that made it such a standout in the first place. Somehow, this show just keeps getting better, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.
What makes St. Denis Medical work so well is its ability to find comedy in the everyday chaos of an understaffed, underfunded hospital. The mockumentary format gives its characters plenty of room to be ridiculous, while the relationships between the staff keep everything grounded. By now, these characters feel like people we've gotten to know, and watching them navigate another season of workplace madness remains an absolute treat.
One relationship that continues to have my heart is Matt and Serena. Played by Mekki Leeper and Kahyun Kim, the pair remains my favorite couple on the series. Their chemistry has been one of the show's biggest strengths, and Season 3 gives me even more reasons to stay invested in their story. There's something incredibly charming about these two, and their dynamic adds another enjoyable layer to a comedy already packed with memorable personalities.
The guest stars are another welcome addition this season, particularly Damon Wayans, who appears in the premiere. His appearance reunites him with David Alan Grier, his former In Living Color castmate, and what a treat it is to see these two comedy veterans together again. It's a fun bit of television history that fits right into the wonderfully chaotic world of St. Denis. When you have that kind of comedic talent sharing the screen, you know you're in for a good time.
Of course, a comedy is only as good as its ability to make you laugh, and that's where St. Denis Medical continues to shine. I'm talking genuine belly laughs, not just a few polite chuckles here and there. The series understands its characters, knows how to use its ensemble, and doesn't need to reinvent itself every season to remain entertaining. The humor feels natural to the world these characters inhabit, and the cast makes even the most absurd situations enjoyable.
That's something I particularly appreciate about this season. There's no sense that the show is struggling to maintain the momentum of its earlier years. Instead, it feels completely comfortable with its identity, leaning into the humor and character dynamics that have made it so successful. The result is a comedy that remains consistently entertaining without feeling like it's trying too hard.
Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give Season 3 is that I genuinely have no notes. Not one. The comedy delivers, the characters remain a joy to watch, and I never found myself wishing the show had done something differently. Sometimes a series simply understands what makes it special, and St. Denis Medical is clearly one of them.
NBC has another fantastic season of comedy on its hands. St. Denis Medical remains consistently funny, wonderfully chaotic, and packed with characters worth returning for every week. Three seasons in, I'm still laughing just as hard, and I wouldn't change a thing.
Rating: 5/5
