General Hospital Weekly Recap: Nina Is Taken by the WSB as Drew’s Revenge Takes a Dark Turn

Port Charles had no shortage of trouble during the week of September 14–18. Nina Reeves went from answering questions about Jack Brennan’s disappearance to being dragged away by the WSB, Drew Cain’s revenge plot became even uglier, Brook Lynn and Chase’s marriage moved dangerously close to ending, and Anna Devane’s mental-health crisis forced Josslyn to make a difficult decision.

Meanwhile, Charlotte and Danny came up with another terrible plan involving Drew, Jason and Britt called it quits, Curtis tried to set Trina straight from Pentonville, and there may finally be something brewing between Lucas and Joe. Basically, Port Charles had a week.

Nina Becomes the WSB’s Prime Suspect

Nina’s problems began when Acting WSB Chief Baines questioned her about Jack Brennan, who had mysteriously disappeared after their very public argument at the Metro Court Gardens. Nina admitted they had fought but insisted she had no idea where Jack was, and she quickly realized that Carly had told the WSB about their confrontation.

Things went from bad to much worse when Baines arrested Nina in the middle of the Gardens. She struggled as he led her away in handcuffs, insisting she had done nothing wrong while people around the restaurant recorded the spectacle. Ric rushed in as her attorney, but even he had trouble getting access to her once the WSB took control. Nina soon discovered the most damaging piece of evidence against her when Baines revealed that Jack Brennan’s wallet had been found underneath the seat of her car.

Nina immediately knew something was wrong because Jack had never been in her car. She insisted she was being framed, but Baines had her public threat against Brennan, the wallet and their romantic relationship to build a case around.

By the time Ric attempted to get her released, it was too late. Baines informed Nina that the WSB was taking custody of her in connection with Jack’s disappearance and possible murder.

Dante tried to stop the WSB from simply making Nina disappear, demanding paperwork and answers about where she was being taken. His objections did little good, and Nina was ultimately taken away to a WSB facility as Ava helplessly watched her friend beg for someone to help her.

Drew’s Revenge Against Nina Is Exposed

Unfortunately for Nina, the WSB has evidence against her because Drew Cain deliberately put it there. When Ava confronted Drew about Nina’s arrest, he finally admitted that he had hidden Brennan’s wallet inside Nina’s car as an insurance policy.

Ava was furious that he had framed her friend for a disappearance that she and Drew knew far more about than Nina ever did. Drew, however, was not particularly bothered by what he had done.

He reminded Ava of everything he believed Nina had done to him and revealed even more about the revenge fueling his actions. According to Drew, Willow was the person who shot him, while Nina later pushed his wheelchair into the lake and nearly drowned him.

Drew also claimed Nina and Willow used a paralytic drug to keep him trapped inside his own body for months. To Drew, Nina being blamed for Brennan’s disappearance was simply payback.

Ava was clearly disturbed by how far he had gone, but Drew argued that framing Nina protected both of them from being connected to Brennan’s death. He also used their daughters as justification, reminding Ava that if either of them went to prison, they could lose custody.

Then Drew made his intentions even clearer. After remembering Nina pushing him into the lake, he told himself that he had promised to get even and that Nina’s daughter was next. Whatever revenge tour Drew thinks he is on, it clearly is not over. If anything, Nina’s arrest appears to be only one part of a much larger plan.

Willow Learns Nina Has Been Taken

Ric eventually went to Willow with the news that her mother had been taken by the WSB. Willow initially could not understand why anyone would seriously believe Nina murdered Jack Brennan.

Ric explained that the WSB knew about Nina and Jack’s relationship, their public confrontation and the threat Nina made against him. He then revealed that Brennan’s wallet had been found inside Nina’s car, which was enough for Willow to realize something was very wrong.

Willow became even more alarmed when Ric told her Nina had already been transferred out of Port Charles. Nina had deliberately avoided contacting Willow because she did not want to drag her daughter into a political disaster, but Willow had no intention of staying out of it.

She immediately decided to use every resource available to her to bring her mother home. Considering Drew’s final threat about Nina’s daughter being next, Willow may be walking directly into another part of his revenge plan.

Brook Lynn Begs Chase Not to Give Up on Their Marriage

Brook Lynn and Chase had one of their most painful weeks yet. Chase met with Alexis to discuss his options if he decided to divorce Brook Lynn, particularly what a separation would mean for their adoption of Phoebe.

Alexis assured him that Phoebe’s adoption was finalized and encouraged him to think carefully about custody and whether there was any chance he and Brook Lynn could reconcile. Brook Lynn, meanwhile, remained convinced that their marriage could survive.

She told Tracy that Chase needed time to calm down and believed he would eventually understand why she made the choices she did. I still have one question, though: Why is Brook Lynn begging this man to stay with her?

Things became even worse when Chase returned home, not to reconcile, but to see Phoebe and pack his belongings. Brook Lynn pleaded with him not to move out and even suggested they leave the Quartermaine mansion and get a home of their own.

Chase made it clear that the house was not the real problem because the problem was trust. He told Brook Lynn that from the beginning of their relationship, there had always been another lie waiting to surface.

While Chase still loved her, he no longer trusted her enough to believe they could continue building a life together. Brook Lynn pointed out that Chase had kept things from her as well, including his attempt to implicate Michael in Drew’s shooting, but it did little to change his mind.

Chase admitted he had already spoken to Alexis about a legal separation. Brook Lynn begged him to take more time before filing anything, and he finally agreed to hold off while he decided whether their marriage could be saved. Then he walked out, leaving Brook Lynn alone in their bedroom crying. At some point, she is going to have to stop begging Chase to choose their marriage and decide what she wants for herself.

Tracy Turns to Sonny for Help With Gio

Chase was not the only person Brook Lynn was losing, because Gio had also pulled away from his mother after learning the truth about the accident and cover-up. That left Tracy increasingly worried that Brook Lynn could lose both her husband and her son.

Tracy turned to Sonny and asked him to convince Gio to forgive Brook Lynn. Sonny immediately recognized what she was doing, realizing Tracy could not fix Brook Lynn and Chase, so she was trying to fix Brook Lynn and Gio instead.

Whether Gio is ready to forgive his mother is another matter entirely. Tracy may want to repair everything around Brook Lynn, but some of these relationships are going to need more than a well-placed conversation.

Curtis Takes Responsibility — Until the Quartermaine Warning

Trina visited Curtis in Pentonville and continued blaming Brook Lynn for her father being behind bars. Curtis surprised her by pushing back and telling Trina that he was responsible for being in prison and that she could not put that entirely on Brook Lynn.

Trina also admitted that she believed Brook Lynn when she said she had not realized Jordan and Curtis had crashed after the guardrail incident. That felt like progress, especially after so much anger had been directed at Brook Lynn.

Curtis still could not forgive Brook Lynn for failing to come forward once she learned about the accident, and Trina revealed she had fired Brook Lynn as her manager. Curtis encouraged his daughter not to abandon her music because of everything that happened and reminded her how many people believed in her talent.

Then, just when I thought Curtis was finally seeing the light, he warned Trina to watch out for the Quartermaines because they might try to buy her forgiveness or use damage control. Whoa, because that took an otherwise reasonable conversation in a completely different direction.

Jordan, thankfully, seemed far less interested in revenge. When Brook Lynn apologized to her, Jordan acknowledged that

Brook Lynn should have come forward sooner but reminded her that Curtis was responsible for the choices that ultimately put him in prison. Later, when Drew tried to stir up more anger against the Quartermaines, Jordan shut that down too. She was more interested in getting Curtis an early release than spending her energy looking for someone else to blame, and honestly, great job, Jordan.

Anna’s Breakdown Forces Josslyn to Make a Choice

Anna finally admitted just how badly she was struggling after everything she endured. She told Dr. Roberts that she had nearly executed Britt Westbourne because she became convinced eliminating Faison’s descendants was necessary to protect her family.

Jason stopped Anna before she could go through with it, but she understood how dangerously close she had come to killing Britt. Anna asked Roberts to become her consulting doctor because she feared the WSB would discover her condition and place her inside one of its facilities.

She was right to be concerned about the Bureau finding out because Anna herself eventually pushed Josslyn to follow WSB protocol and report her condition. Josslyn struggled with the decision but ultimately told Chief Baines that Anna had suffered a mental breakdown and nearly killed Britt while experiencing a delusion.

Emma was furious when Josslyn admitted what she had done. She unloaded on her at the Brown Dog, accusing Josslyn of inserting herself into other people’s lives and even bringing up Josslyn cheating on Cameron.

Carly intervened, but Josslyn admitted afterward that Emma was not entirely wrong. Jason offered another explanation for why Anna wanted Josslyn to make the report, believing Anna was frightened that she could hurt someone again and wanted the WSB involved if she could no longer stop herself.

Valentin Wants to Save Anna, but Anna Sends Him Back to Carly

Once Britt told Valentin what Anna had done, he immediately went to see her. Anna confessed everything, including the fact that she had hidden how badly she was struggling from everyone around her.

Valentin quickly offered a solution and suggested they disappear together somewhere the WSB would never find them. Anna refused to let him throw his life away and recognized that Valentin had found something different with Carly that she wanted him to protect.

Anna later admitted to Felicia that she would always love Valentin because he knew the darkest parts of her and understood them without judging her. At the same time, she believed what Valentin had with Carly was new and real. Valentin eventually returned to Carly and tried to reassure her. He told Carly that Anna wanted him happy and at peace, and that was exactly what he had found with her.

Carly did not exactly look thrilled hearing all of this, but Valentin made his choice clear. Whether Carly believes she truly has all of his heart is another question.

Jason and Britt Are Over

Anna’s crisis also destroyed Jason and Britt’s relationship. Jason could not get past Britt’s failure to help Anna sooner while she was being held and tortured.

Britt insisted she had been trapped herself and tried to find a way to help, but Jason admitted he did not fully believe her explanation. That was enough for Britt to realize they had a much bigger problem than one disagreement.

She told Jason that if he could not believe in her, she could not believe in him. Their argument over Anna exposed a deeper lack of trust between them, and Britt ended the relationship.

Jason later admitted to Carly that he still loved Britt, but love was not enough to fix what had broken between them. For now, Jason and Britt are officially done.

Charlotte and Danny Come Up With Their Worst Plan Yet

Danny and Charlotte spent the week worrying about Drew’s restraining order and trying to find something they could use against him. Things became more complicated after Scout admitted she had lied to Drew and claimed she was with Danny when she had actually gone somewhere else.

Charlotte quickly realized Scout was probably seeing a guy and warned Danny that Drew would continue assuming Danny was involved whenever Scout disappeared. Charlotte’s solution was to revive their plan to get leverage on Drew, and somehow, the new version was even worse.

Charlotte decided she could make it appear that Drew had been involved with her. Danny immediately told her it was dangerous and warned that compromising pictures could follow her forever, regardless of whether anything actually happened.

Charlotte pretended to listen, but by Friday, she had stolen Drew’s car keys from the Metro Court valet station and climbed into his vehicle. She positioned her phone to take compromising pictures and lowered her shirt and jacket enough to reveal her lingerie while waiting for Drew to return.

Someone eventually opened the driver’s-side door, but the episode ended before revealing who it was. Was it Drew, did Danny get there in time, or is Charlotte about to discover exactly why Danny warned her this plan could ruin her life?

Are Lucas and Joe Becoming Jolu?

Not everything this week involved arrests, cover-ups and terrible decisions. Molly ran into Joe Fitzpatrick and Lucas at the gym and immediately noticed what Lucas apparently refuses to see: there may be something happening between these two.

Joe had Lucas working out with him, and their comfortable banter caught Molly’s attention. She even suggested Lucas should send Lucy flowers for accidentally bringing them together.

Lucas insisted Molly was imagining things, but I’m not so sure. They were cute together, and Molly’s radar may be working perfectly fine.

So are we heading toward Lucas and Joe — Jolu — becoming an actual couple? I would not rule it out, especially after the way Molly watched them together.

The Week Ends With Port Charles in Trouble

By Friday, Nina was gone, Willow was preparing to fight the WSB to bring her home, and Drew was already thinking about the next stage of his revenge. Anna remained vulnerable while the WSB knew about her breakdown, Chase and Brook Lynn’s marriage was barely hanging on, and Charlotte was sitting inside Drew’s car trying to create evidence that could destroy both of them.

There was also one major political development quietly happening in the background. ADA Justine Turner told Sonny that Robert Scorpio was “unofficially officially” stepping down as district attorney, and she intends to run for his position.

From Nina’s extradition to Charlotte’s cliffhanger, this week left Port Charles with plenty of damage already done and even more trouble waiting to happen. With Drew promising that Nina’s daughter is next, something tells me Nina being taken away by the WSB is only the beginning.
