Salem spent the week chasing answers, but every answer only seemed to create another question. From the glittering poker tables of Monte Carlo to the DiMera secrets buried in Italy, the past continued reaching into the present. Philip and Gabi took enormous risks to protect the Kiriakis family, Sydney DiMera made her return, Theo and Stephanie found themselves growing dangerously close, and the mystery surrounding Dominic Marino became increasingly connected to Stefano DiMera.

By Friday, one shocking revelation suggested that Stefano’s plans may have been alive all along.

All Bets Are Off

Philip Kiriakis arrived in Monte Carlo determined to gamble everything for the sake of his family. With Titan Industries and the Kiriakis legacy hanging in the balance, Philip knew he needed a major financial victory, and Gabi Hernandez was right there beside him.

Their high-stakes poker game brought them face-to-face with two intriguing newcomers: Dante Vitali, Sami Brady’s fiancé, and Sydney DiMera, who returned to the canvas with Sydney Malakeh taking over the role. Sydney’s arrival immediately created another DiMera connection as Marlena spoke with her granddaughter while Sydney prepared for the poker game, unaware that Belle and Chad were deep in their own investigation in Italy.

At the poker table, Gabi was not about to sit quietly while another player tried to cheat, and Philip eventually came through with a huge win, giving the Kiriakis family a reason to celebrate. Unfortunately, there was a catch: Philip had not won enough.

Dante later reported back to the mysterious Dominic Marino and revealed that Philip’s victory was nowhere near enough to save Titan or the Kiriakis legacy. Meanwhile, Belle and Chad continued investigating Dominic’s home in Italy and discovered they were not the only people interested in what the mysterious man had left behind.

Back in Salem, Marlena confided in Julie that she feared Stefano’s chess set was more than a collection of old pieces. It could be a Pandora’s box, and the game was only beginning.

The Stakes Get Higher

Philip and Gabi refused to give up after their Monte Carlo victory, and their risky move paid off in a major way when the pair celebrated after doubling their money. Philip’s celebration was tempered, however, by the knowledge that even that might not be enough to protect his family.

There was also something wonderfully old-school and soapy about Philip and Gabi celebrating with the money scattered around them. It was messy, over-the-top and exactly the kind of scene that belongs on Days of Our Lives.

Back in Salem, Sarah Horton continued gathering information and made a major move against EJ DiMera, adding another layer to the pressure surrounding the DiMera family. Holly turned to Tate for help, while Xander, Brady and Sarah compared notes about the increasingly complicated situation around them.

Johnny DiMera also found himself under growing pressure as the DiMera family became surrounded on every side. Nobody seemed to realize just how much information was beginning to surface, especially as Belle and Chad’s Italian investigation continued drawing them closer to the mystery surrounding Dominic Marino.

Dominic was no longer just another mysterious name. He was becoming the key to something much bigger.

Confessions Change Everything

Johnny finally came clean about the Coriseal complaint, and his confession sent shockwaves through the people around him. Theo Carver was particularly affected by the revelation, forcing him to reconsider his connection to DiMera Enterprises.

Ultimately, Theo made a life-changing decision and became ready to walk away. His personal life, however, was becoming just as complicated as his professional one because of Stephanie Johnson.

As Stephanie struggled with the devastating news surrounding Joy Wesley’s condition, Theo became one of the few people she could turn to. Their friendship grew increasingly intimate as both found themselves trapped in unhappy circumstances.

Stephanie’s marriage to Alex was already under enormous strain, while Joy’s paralysis only made matters worse. Theo understood what it was like to want something or someone he could not have, and Stephanie was beginning to understand exactly what he meant.

And yes, I am starting to wonder whether I should really like the possibility of Theo and Stephanie as much as I do. It is messy, it is inappropriate, and if this turns into a full-on affair, it could create exactly the kind of fun soapy drama Salem thrives on.

Elsewhere, Holly and Tate continued growing closer, although Mason’s strange behavior remained a troubling shadow over their relationship. Philip and Gabi celebrated their financial success, but the mystery surrounding Dominic continued to grow.

Everyone thought they were investigating Dominic, but the bigger question was whether Dominic had been watching them all along.

Sydney Comes Home

Italy brought an unexpected reunion when Sydney DiMera surprised her father, EJ. He was thrilled to see his daughter, but their conversation quickly turned toward Sami Brady and her relationship with Dante Vitali.

Sydney admitted that she did not believe her mother would ever completely get over EJ, and that clearly struck a nerve. I enjoyed seeing Sydney and EJ together again, and hearing Sydney suggest that Sami may still love herself some EJ DiMera was a nice little reminder of just how tangled this family history remains.

EJ soon learned that Sydney knew the name Dominic Marino, although she did not appear to know much about him. When Belle and Chad arrived, Sydney suddenly had an invitation to return to Salem with them and she accepted.

Sydney was coming home, but she was not the only person bringing secrets back with her.

Back in Salem, Theo confessed to Lani that he had nearly kissed a married woman. He had not crossed the line, but his feelings were becoming impossible to ignore. Stephanie and Theo had found comfort in one another at exactly the wrong time, and with Joy’s condition putting additional pressure on Stephanie’s already troubled marriage, their attraction was becoming increasingly dangerous.

Meanwhile, Cat Greene finally admitted that she had once been an ISA agent, and Leo Stark quickly realized that her past could make her very useful. In Italy, Chad and Belle studied the mysterious photograph of Stefano standing beside a young blonde boy.

Chad wondered whether Dominic could be a DiMera, while Belle questioned whether Dominic was the missing pawn in Stefano’s mysterious game. Neither knew just how close they were getting to the truth.

The Ghost of Stefano

Sydney finally returned to Salem, bringing a little more DiMera chaos with her. EJ’s reunion with his daughter was overshadowed by his growing frustration over Dominic Marino, and he eventually confronted Rita Lesley about the sale of the DiMera mansion.

EJ accused Rita of knowing more about Dominic than she had admitted. She insisted that she had told him the truth, but EJ was not convinced and he had good reason not to be.

Later, Rita stood alone before Stefano DiMera’s portrait and revealed the truth. She was not simply protecting herself; she was still following Stefano’s orders.

Meanwhile, Belle brought the mysterious photograph to Marlena, who could not identify the young boy standing beside Stefano. However, when Belle told her the name Dominic Marino, Marlena noticed something chilling: “Marino” and “DiMera” carry essentially the same meaning.

It was not proof, but it was another strange connection in a mystery that was becoming increasingly difficult to dismiss.

Across Salem, Chad confronted Cat about her past with the ISA, and Cat finally opened up about what happened to her family and why she walked away from the agency. At the same time, another emotional bomb was ticking between Theo and Stephanie as two people who should not be falling for each other became harder and harder to separate.

The Week Ends With Stefano Still Calling the Shots

The week closed with Salem’s biggest mystery becoming even darker. Marlena held the photograph of Stefano and the mysterious young boy while EJ demanded answers from Rita, Chad questioned Cat, Sydney settled back into Salem and Theo walked away from DiMera.

Yet the biggest revelation came from Rita. Her continued loyalty to Stefano suggested that the late DiMera patriarch may have left behind far more than memories and old enemies.

The mystery surrounding Dominic Marino is now impossible to separate from Stefano. Belle and Chad believe Dominic could be connected to him, the photograph has raised even more questions, and Marlena’s discovery about the meaning behind Dominic’s name only adds another intriguing clue.

Then there is Philip, who may have bought the Kiriakis family some breathing room but still has a long way to go if he intends to save Titan. Theo and Stephanie are inching closer to something they probably should not be doing, while Sydney’s return adds another unpredictable piece to the DiMera puzzle.

The most unsettling possibility is that Stefano’s plan did not end with his death. His portrait still hangs in the mansion, his influence continues shaping the lives of everyone he left behind, and Rita appears determined to carry out his wishes. If Stefano really does still have a plan in motion, Salem should stop asking whether the game is still being played.

The real question is who will be the next piece moved across his chessboard.
