The latest TV casting news is dropping faster than a streaming service’s stock price after an earnings call, and the industry is leaning heavily into two things: the brilliant minds of the King universe and the never-ending expansion of Taylor Sheridan’s ranch-flavored empire.
From Silicon Valley revenge plots to prestige literary adaptations, the casting directors of Hollywood have been busy making sure you never actually leave your couch. Here is everything you need to know about the faces joining your future favorite (or most hate-watchable) series.
Busy Philipps Gets Her Revenge in Cupertino
First up, the power duo we didn’t know we needed to see in a courtroom is officially reuniting. Busy Philipps is set to join her Girls5eva co-star Renée Elise Goldsberry in the upcoming CBS drama "Cupertino." Produced by Robert and Michelle King the masterminds behind The Good Wife, The Good Fight, and the criminally underrated Evil, this isn't just another procedural where someone argues about a DNA swab.
Philipps is taking on the role of Natalia, a woman who is "beautiful and delightfully blunt" which is basically the character description Busy was born to play. Natalia is the spurned first wife of an AI billionaire who dumped her the second she hit the "ancient" age of forty. Instead of taking her settlement and moving to a wellness retreat in Tulum, Natalia is choosing violence. She’s financing a startup law firm run by Michael (Mike Colter) and Olivia (Rachel Keller) specifically to burn her ex-husband’s AI empire to the ground.
Watching Mike Colter play a lawyer fired by a tech startup while Busy Philipps bankrolls his path to vengeance is exactly the kind of high-stakes, slightly unhinged drama the Kings excel at. With the series slated for the 2026–27 season, we have a long time to wait, but the hype is already real.
Aimee Lou Wood Goes Gothic in Jane Eyre
In a move that proves the industry will never stop trying to make Charlotte Brontë happen (again), Aimee Lou Wood has landed the titular role in a new series adaptation of "Jane Eyre." Wood, who stole every scene in The White Lotus and Sex Education, brings a specific brand of awkward charm that might actually make the brooding Mr. Rochester seem like less of a walking red flag.
The project is being penned by Miriam Battye, a writer with Succession credits, which suggests this version of the moors might be a bit more biting and cynical than previous iterations. While there’s no network attached yet, expect a bidding war; everyone wants a piece of the prestige British period-piece pie.
God of War Finds Its Villain
Over at Prime Video, the "God of War" adaptation continues to fill out its roster of deities. Ed Skrein, recently seen looking menacing in Jurassic World: Rebirth, has been cast as Baldur. In the context of the game’s Norse era, Baldur is the relentless, indestructible son of Odin who serves as the primary antagonist.
Skrein has a PhD in playing characters you desperately want to punch in the face, making him the perfect foil for Ryan Hurst’s Kratos. If the production value matches the casting, this might be the rare video game adaptation that doesn't make fans want to throw their controllers at the screen.
The Yellowstone Spin-Off Machine Churns On
Finally, because Taylor Sheridan apparently doesn't sleep, the "Yellowstone" spin-off "Marshals" is rounding out its cast just days before its premiere. The series has added Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead) as Randall Clegg, a new adversary for Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).
Cudlitz is joined by Ellyn Jameson, who plays Dolly Weaver, a rancher’s daughter caught in the crossfire. "Marshals" premieres this Sunday, March 1, at 9 pm on CBS. At this point, if you haven't been cast in a Yellowstone spin-off, are you even an actor in Hollywood?
Whether you're here for the Silicon Valley snark of Cupertino or the stoic grimacing of the Dutton clan, the television landscape is looking increasingly packed. One thing is for sure: Busy Philipps with a vendetta and a checkbook is the energy we’re bringing into the new season.
