Pack your trunks and prepare your dowries, because the streaming giant has finally decided to stop teasing us. Netflix has officially released the first teaser trailer for its highly anticipated Pride and Prejudice limited series, and it’s safe to say the "Yearn-aissance" is back in full force.
After months of grainy set photos and whispered rumors, we finally have eyes on Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden as the iconic Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Written by the queen of modern Millennial angst, Dolly Alderton, this six-part adaptation looks poised to be the most aesthetically pleasing thing to happen to our screens since the 2005 hand-flex heard 'round the world.
A First Look: Mist, Muslin, and Major Yearning
The teaser trailer clocks in at just under 90 seconds, but it packs enough romantic tension to power a small village in Hertfordshire. It opens with a sweeping shot of the English countryside—think heavy mist, rolling hills, and the kind of dramatic lighting that makes you wonder if anyone in the 19th century ever actually saw the sun.
We see Corrin’s Lizzy Bennet perched on a rooftop (very "main character energy"), looking pensively into the distance before the trailer cuts to the main event: the Meryton Assembly. This is where we get our first real glimpse of Lowden’s Darcy. If you were worried he wouldn’t capture that specific "I’m rich, I’m miserable, and I hate this party" energy, you can breathe a sigh of relief. He looks sufficiently annoyed by everyone's existence.
The Cast: Why Netflix is Winning the Regency Game
While the leads are the obvious draw, the Pride and Prejudice cast revealed in this trailer is genuinely ridiculous. Netflix clearly backed up the Brinks truck for this one.
Olivia Colman appears for a split second as Mrs. Bennet, and she already looks like she’s about to have a nervous breakdown over a lack of eligible bachelors.
Jamie Demetriou (of Fleabag fame) shows up as Mr. Collins, looking exactly as slimy and awkward as we hoped.
Daryl McCormack brings some much-needed warmth as Mr. Bingley, offering a sharp contrast to Darcy’s brooding silhouette.
Can We Handle Another Adaptation?
Look, we all love the 1995 BBC version (wet shirt enthusiasts, unite) and the 2005 Keira Knightley film. So, do we need another one? According to this trailer, yes. Director Euros Lyn (Heartstopper) seems to be leaning into a more visceral, tactile version of the story. There are close-ups of fingers grazing book spines, the rustle of silk, and heavy breathing in the rain. It’s "BookTok" the TV show, and honestly, we aren't mad at it.
The script by Alderton promises a "faithful but fresh" take. Based on the dialogue-free teaser, the focus is squarely on the atmosphere and the agonizing wait for a single touch. It’s prestige TV at its most indulgent.
When Can We Binge It?
The trailer concludes with the announcement we’ve been waiting for: Pride and Prejudice arrives in Fall 2026. It’s a long wait, but if the production value in this teaser is anything to go by, it’ll be the defining period drama of the decade.
Netflix knows exactly what it’s doing here. They’ve combined a beloved literary classic with a cast of internet favorites and a writer who understands the nuances of female friendship and romantic frustration. It’s a recipe for a viral hit that will launch a thousand memes and probably make us all buy more ribbons.
