This week on Beyond The Gates, all the steps forward in the kill Bill plot have staggered backward. Bill passes out again. Hayley celebrates. Dani and Andre go to Seoul while Heather eats up airtime.
Kill Bill Part………………………
Can we end this story? Naomi eats half of a poisoned sandwich as she continues to work for Bill’s office. Bill passes out again; Hayley celebrates too soon. Bill wakes up because, you know, the pacemaker is doing its job, and the airhead doesn’t get that. Hayley has got to be the worst scammer on the planet.
Bill and Ted discuss his health, and Ted tells him there is an app for that and to pay attention to his discharge paperwork. Because Bill is also stupid, he has yet to catch on to his wife’s deceit. He brought her excuses about meeting up with Randy. He didn’t feel her kick him to see if he was alive…because he is stupid, he shows her the app and how it works. Wait, what am I thinking? Hayley isn’t smart enough to put two and two together, never mind.
This story has been going on for a year. Dear writers, what is the reason? Most head writers who drag stories on this long are given their walking papers. I am not saying I want anyone to be given a pink slip; I am saying something has to change. More on that later.
Heather and Joey
Heather is a new character and in her short time on the soap has been all over FMC. Interacting with everyone, and I am over it. We have Leslie; we didn’t need Heather. What we needed was for Leslie to have better writing and accountability.
Heather figures out that Joey killed Doug but of course Joey denies it. She skulks around town gathering information. June tells her all she knows about the impaler. Insert heavy eye roll. One thing I gathered from this is that someone will be hurt and that someone could be Smitty.
Joey orders his slave to go to Orphey’s to spy on Vanessa and Deanna and find out if Doug has a safety deposit box. Randy is hesitant, but he eventually says “yes, boss” to his massa. Later, Joey listens to Vanessa whine about Deanna. You know, the problems that she created with her daughter by being a horrible mother and person. He offers to step away, but we know that he didn’t mean it.
Dani and Andre
Dani packs to leave. Chelsea had told Bill about her leaving so of course he has to visit to get in her head. Telling her that he is happy for her and wishes that he was a better husband to her. Oh please, I am not, will not, and never will buy it. Writers if you wanted us to root for them you should have never written them to the point of no return. His vitriol toward her before and after his wedding was down right abusive. Their relationship veered into abusive territory long ago. Now why would we root for that? Hey writers, take my hand and walk with me into the year 2026. You know, 26 years into the 21st century? These are not the days where people root for victims to be with their rapist or abuser. We are not rooting for Dani and Bill. Let it go.
That being said, after Andre’s stupid attempt to use the idea of his penis to reign Heather in, I have lost all respect for him and am off the Dandre ship. I want Dani to take some time being a boss, and meet another boss on her level, her age or older, a real man who treats her like a queen and challenges her.
Take that same want and apply it to Kat.
Other Happenings
Chelsea/Kat gets push back from their supporters for pulling out of the Takahashi deal. Eva gets a dose of her own medicine when she sees Kat and Izaiah talking. Oh we do not want this writers.
Friday Cliffhanger
Nonexistent.
Final Thoughts on the Week
Same rant, different week. I will add that if it were not for these recaps, I would stop watching. When this show debuted and weeks that followed, I aired out my critiques. Nothing has changed and at that time, I never thought I would even want to give up on the show. Leslie got away with her crimes, no resolution. The impaler story is still going and still awful. The dragging on of storylines make it hard to watch. There is nothing that makes me excited to tune in. It is not soapy, there is no drama. It has horrible optics and that alone makes me want to throw in the towel.
