Astra Film Awards 2025: One Battle After Another Leads Nominations

Gold "Astra Awards" text on a black background, conveying elegance and exclusivity.

The Hollywood Creative Alliance has announced the nominees for the 2025 Astra Film Awards, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leading the pack at 11 nominations. The ceremony will take place January 9, 2026, in Los Angeles and stream on KNEKT.tv and YouTube, with the host and venue still to be announced.

One Battle After Another dominated across major categories, including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Director, and Best Actor – Comedy or Musical for Leonardo DiCaprio. The film also secured four supporting nominations for Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, Sean Penn, and Benicio del Toro.

Right behind Anderson’s film are two heavy hitters: Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, tied with nine nominations each. Both titles earned spots in Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay, as well as major acting nods for Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value).

This year also marks a significant change for the HCA: for the first time, the Astra Awards split the Best Picture and acting races into separate Drama and Comedy/Musical categories. The update passed with support from 60% of HCA’s 310 voting members.
