“Second Sunday” delivers one of the more intense episodes of High Potential  this season, mixing a high-stakes robbery case with some heavy character drama, especially for Captain Nick Wagner. The episode opens with a creepy montage of masked robbers hitting a tech facility on Mother’s Day, while Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) spends time with her kids and Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) enjoys a quiet morning with Lucia. It’s a nice contrast that quickly turns serious once the robbery at Canyon Gate is discovered. Captain Wagner (Steve Howey) responds immediately, and it becomes clear very quickly that he knows more about this crew than he’s letting on. At the crime scene, Morgan finds a security guard locked in a file cabinet, alive, thankfully and his description of the robbers confirms Wagner’s suspicions. Things get strange when the team realizes the only thing stolen from the vault was a bottle of wine and a mysterious hard drive stored under the name of a long-dead mayor. That clue alone makes it clear this isn’t just a simple robbery. As the investigation unfolds, Morgan starts snooping (as usual) and discovers that Wagner previously encountered this same crew and that his fiancée, Taylor, was killed during their last run-in. That reveal adds emotional weight to Wagner’s behavior and explains why he’s so worked up throughout the episode. One of the episode’s best twists comes when Morgan cracks the truth behind the stolen hard drive, it contains maps to underground city tunnels. The robbery crew’s attacks on city systems turn out to be distractions for a much bigger heist involving money transport tubes. The final showdown in the tunnels is intense, with gunfire, close calls, and Wagner finally confronting the man responsible for his fiancée’s death. Steve Howey really shines here, showing a more vulnerable side of Wagner than we’ve seen before. There’s also plenty of emotional fallout afterward. Morgan nearly getting shot clearly shakes her, and the awkward tension between her, Adam, and Lucia continues to build. Meanwhile, Lt. Soto (Judy Reyes) quietly reveals another bombshell—photos connecting Willa Quinn to Wagner’s father. And then comes the moment I honestly wasn’t ready for, Morgan and Wagner sharing a kiss in the elevator. Whether fans love it or hate it, it definitely changes the dynamic moving forward. Overall, “Second Sunday” is packed with action, character development, and shocking moments, making it one of the most memorable episodes of the season so far.

The storyline whiplash is back in this latest episode of The Rookie , but I will say, I enjoyed this episode despite that. It was unpredictable with the perfect mix of action, comedy, and drama all in one.  Bailey Gets a Rookie After leaving her job for the opportunity to work on a task force in D.C., Bailey returns to the LAFD and has to basically start over. Her previous position was no longer available, but there was something she could do: train a new paramedic. That’s right, Bailey finds herself with a rookie for her first shift back. Now, the part that made me roll my eyes was the fact that she called John to meet her on her first call. Did she really  need to have him there? Isn’t she supposed to be great at everything (except drawing I guess)? What challenge does a rookie bring that she couldn’t handle alone? I suppose it was good that he was there. When they receive their first call, Bailey texts John to meet them at the location where they find a man unconscious and bleeding out from a gunshot wound. The one man in charge was so desperate for this money, he shot Bailey’s rookie and then cut Isak's, the injured man, hand off. Given the state Isak was in when he came in, this move led to his death, which now put Bailey and John’s life in danger.  John’s quick thinking of course got them out of harm's way, but I have to say something about this scene that felt off to me. Bailey is in the army reserve right? I’m confused about her sometimes, because it’s either she’s badass enough to join a LAPD task force, or she’s a damsel in distress and needs John to figure out a way to save them. I would assume she would be offering some sort of suggestion as to how they could possibly get out of this situation, no? Despite that, I’m glad Bailey’s first rookie is okay and they all made it out alive.  Seth Ridley Tries to Come Back to Mid-Wilshire I like that Seth went on his apology tour and is working towards being a better person. However, the audacity of this man to come back thinking he would be welcomed in with open arms. He couldn’t help himself when he caught wind that Mid-Wilshire needed officers. How desperate did he think they were? Yeah, he’s a pathological liar and that’s already a cause for concern, but the fact that he endangered his fellow officers and thought that a simple “I’m sorry” would be enough and all would be forgiven.  (Disney/Mike Taing)/ABC © 2026 All Rights Reserved.  The lie detector test was a great catch to get him to admit that he failed Tim and Lucy during the wildfires. This confession would be in his file and would no way allow him to come back to Mid-Wilshire.  What I will say is that Seth didn’t pull a Seth and lose his cool. It shows that he really has changed…for now. I thought for sure they would’ve pulled the “let’s give him a second chance” card. But they did the right thing, while also respecting the fact that he is trying to be a better person.  I like Seth’s friendship with Miles, and that’s the only place he should be popping up.  Not the Outcome We Wanted for Welsey Continuing on with storylines not  going the way I thought they would, I was hoping for a last minute win for Wesley. He would’ve made a great District Attorney, however, this now opens up the opportunity for him to go back to his roots and become a defense attorney again.  Admittedly, I think this is a better move for Wesley. When we first met him, he was all about protecting those who didn’t get a fair chance with the broken system we have. His songs are so infectious, but this last song he performed for Wesley at his losing celebration, made me laugh while also feeling a bit emotional. It’s so rare that we get to see nearly everyone in the same space together. Watching everyone come together to be there for Wesley and making sure he wasn’t alone after losing, was beautiful to see.  Not only do I like when they work the same case together, but I like seeing them off duty together too. These are the moments I wish we got to see more of. Did you see Bailey was also speaking with someone other than John and Celina?!
