Following Tristan’s relapse and Avery’s declaration to Max that she doesn’t love him, episode 18 begins with Avery informing Tristan that they have too many patients for him to be unavailable. She enlists the help of Matt, a psychiatrist who hates blood, but he agrees to assist her with the endovascular procedure on her patient Marcus. The surgery is a success, and after seeing a moment with Marcus, his wife, and his daughter, Avery gets emotional. Tristan tells her to go and lead the response team for Max and to tell him everyone is glad he’s okay. Captain Massey informs Avery and Spencer that his superiors want him to abandon everyone on the island, including Max, but he decides to take a different direction. Back on the island Max and Barry regain consciousness after being crushed by the church rubble. He tries to reach the Odyssey  crew with his walkie talkie but has no luck. Massey’s decision to disobey his bosses leads to him being temporarily relieved of his duties. He tells Spencer that he will be leading the charge now. While Avery is away, Tristan deals with Blair, an assertive patient demanding medicine for her stomach issues. It turns out she was pregnant and didn’t know until her water broke right in the Odyssey  infirmary. While on the trail, Matt asks Avery to tell him about Max, as he can sense her feelings for him. She tells him it all started with a dance on the beach, a callback to the beginning of the season. Meanwhile on the island, Max and Barry are helping a man pop his arm back into place. Barry then passes out. Avery confides in Matt that she’s worried about balancing medical school and a long-distance relationship, fearing she’ll fail at both if she divides her focus. Matt reminds her that she successfully performed an endovascular procedure on a boat, and that she’s capable of overcoming challenges if she wants. On the hike, Matt sees two other people who were on the excursion. He and Avery walk into the church and find Max and Barry. Matt immediately rushes to Barry, and Max immediately rushes to Avery, the looks they share reaffirming the palpable chemistry they have. Max and Avery discover that Barry has a brain bleed and must undergo surgery. Matt offers to help, but Avery knows he’s scared and asks him to cuddle with his dog Peanut. In the infirmary, Tristan brings a midwife who has been on the ship to help deliver Blair’s baby. She tells him that this is going to be a very complicated delivery. The pain is so intense that they will have to deliver the baby feet first. Tristan encourages Blair to be brave and to know that she is giving her baby light. Barry’s surgery goes smoothly, and Max and Avery let Matt know that the next 12 hours will be critical, as he’ll need constant observation and more treatment when they get back to the Odyssey . Under the stars, Avery is helping Max treat his wounds. When he tells her she’s going to be an amazing doctor, she says she didn’t believe that until today, and that doing the procedure on Marcus was life changing. While in his free time, Massey bonds with Julie, who’s on the ship with her husband. They have a deep conversation and help feed the guests. She reveals her unhappiness in her marriage, and he shares that he may be permanently relieved of his duties as the Odyssey  Captain. Massey declares that they may have to find a new adventure. MARCUS EMANUEL MITCHELL (Disney/Tina Thorpe) Later, Avery opens up to Matt about always having to put her dreams second because she had something or someone to take care of. She says that working to be a doctor puts her in first place, and she doesn’t want to be second again by being with Max. Matt assures her that he and Barry have had a 12-year relationship where they both got to achieve their dreams. Everything comes to a head. Avery confesses her feelings to Max, while Julie and Massey reveal the truth to her husband and Spencer, and Blair gives birth to her baby. After Avery confesses her feelings, Barry stops breathing. After jumping into action, Max and Avery save him, leaving Matt relieved and in tears. Everyone stuck on the island returns home safely, including Max and Avery who agree that she has every right to choose herself, but that they’re going to be okay. They walk in the Odyssey  lobby hand in hand. Massey officiates a mass group wedding. At the reception, Avery calls Max to dance with her, and she admits that she does love him back and that she wants to be with him, while also going to medical school. They agree that they will figure it out together and seal the beginning of their relationship with a kiss. The ending is even sweeter with Spencer and the whole Odyssey  crew telling Massey that they stood up to Corporate, affirming that wherever their captain goes is where they’ll go. It’s a touching moment indicative of all the adventures, upheaval, and fun in the sun they’ve all shared together. This moment, combined with Avery’s sentiment about missing Max, Tristan, and the endless clean towels, serves as the perfect bow tie to an amazing season of Doctor Odyssey , which was filled with joy, thrill, and messiness. Beyond the Gates Weekly Recap 05/12-05/16/25 Ted, Leslie, Nicole Leslie tries the soft approach with Nicole, claiming she never meant to hurt her. Nicole? Unbothered. She tells her she could’ve come to her like Shirley, woman-to-woman. Leslie turns on the waterworks, but Nicole sees right through the crocodile tears and tells her to save them. Then, Leslie hands over the DNA results. Nicole calls her pathetic for using her daughter as a pawn and worming her way into her life, all over a man who never prioritized her. She tells her that her apologies and pleas mean nothing. She wants her gone—and kicks her out. Go Nicole!!! Later, Kat and Martin show up with dinner, offering some much-needed support. Meanwhile, Dani visits Ted at the hotel to give him a piece of her mind. Ted tells her Martin gave him the business, and Dani lets him have it too—no excuses, not even the rough patch. He tells her it’s time to go, and as he sees her out, Anita walks in. Ted tries to come for her, but Anita reads him down in a way that only she could. Back at Nicole’s, Dani explains how she and her mom put Ted and Eva in their place. Over at the country club, Ted and Eva meet under the glare of judgmental stares—including from the town gossip. Ted says he has a plan to help Eva relaunch her life. Nicole tells Dani she doesn't want to think about Ted or Eva, but Dani convinces her to fake it till she makes it. So, they show up at the club and—surprise—run into Ted and Eva. Ted reveals he rented Eva a booth at an upscale salon. Eva dreams of being a PA, but Ted reminds her that no one's rushing to hire someone who left their last job under scandal. Later, Andre drops by to check on Nicole, but she’s ice cold. She starts tearing into him until Dani intervenes, urging her to put on her therapist hat—because sometimes, the ones caught in the crossfire are victims too. Despite everything falling apart, Nicole and Andre remain family. Still, Nicole’s suspicious. She asks Dani what’s going on with Andre, and Dani—lies. This is a miss. Dani and Nicole are close; Dani has no reason to lie to her. On Friday's episode, Ted visits Dana—he wants to do something for Eva’s birthday. He even asks Leslie to join. That goes left. Leslie curses the day Eva was born, calling it the worst day of her life. Ted, disgusted, hits her with: “Who says monsters are only in fairytales?” They argue about the abortion lie. She claims it was the only time she ever lied to him. He calls her out for her other lies. She claps back with the lies he told. The back-and-forth is electric—the chemistry is chemistrying—but I’m still team Nicole. Leslie tries the sympathy card again, but Ted doesn't bite. By Friday’s end, Jacob is at her door, ready to take her in for questioning. Sibling Rivalry Martin and Kat catch up and talk about Eva. Martin says like it or not, Eva’s their sister and they need to figure it out. Kat? Wants to run her out of town. Martin feels for her—says she was used. Eva later approaches Kat at Orphey’s. Kat tells her flat-out that if she’s looking for a friend, she’s about to wear her drink. Eva wants to work through things, but Kat isn’t there . Kat visits Ted—this is Keith Robinson’s debut as the new Ted. And he nails  it. He and Kat have instant father-daughter chemistry. Ted opens up about the rough patch with Nicole, saying Nicole gave way more than she got. Then says something wild—that Dana gave him what he needed. One of the most selfish things he’s ever said. Kat asks if she was the reason they stayed together. Ted owns up and takes accountability. They hug, but Kat reminds him—it’ll take more than one moment to fix years of damage. He gives her a key to his hotel. Kat and Chelsea catch up at Uptown. They wonder how love or trust can ever work after what their fathers did. Chelsea says at least Ted didn’t choose his mistress. Kat suspects foul play in Laura’s accident, and Chelsea defends Eva. Kat isn’t hearing it—she’s convinced Eva’s at least a co-conspirator. She rushes to tell Ted. Leslie shows up at Ted’s. She and Kat talk—and Detective Kat records the whole thing. Kat reaches out to Jacob at the hospital, wanting to play the recording for him. He listens but says it’s not concrete. When she pushes, he tells her to email it. Eva ends up celebrating her birthday alone until Andre shows up. She tells him Ted’s been kind and Martin invited her for dinner. She confides in him, but he reminds her of how badly Nicole’s hurting—and questions her motives. She insists she wants Ted and Nicole to work it out, that she sees how much they love each other, and swears she’ll never hurt them again. Andre isn't sure. She explains that she wants a relationship with Ted. Then, Leslie texts: Meet at Orphey Jeans. Eva rushes over, thinking maybe it’s reconciliation. Nope. Leslie shows her the cease and desist order. Eva shrugs and says Leslie should have expected it. Leslie wants Eva to help her get to Ted. Eva refuses, so Leslie walks out on her again. Anita and Vernon, with The Articulates Vernon watches Anita rehearse and moves in for a kiss. He thinks she’s getting ready for the Articulates reunion. But Anita says she can’t get the group back together. Vernon hands her the phone, urging her to at least try. She says she’d do anything for him—except that. But by week’s end, she reaches out to Tracy, who agrees to meet for dinner. Highlights Martin and Andre are stepping up for Eva Martin's invitation to Eva for dinner Anita’s storyline with Vernon rooting her on Dani and Pam trying to flip funds for their agency Kat turned full detective All things Leslie (drama magnet!) Nicole vs. Leslie face-off The debut of New Ted—and the classic “The role of…is now played by…” Lowlights Ashley and Derek—just no Andre drifting back into Ashley’s orbit Smitty losing his entire brain Kat’s hatred for Eva clouding her logic skills and judgement Final Thoughts This week moved slightly slower than the last, but it was still packed with drama. A mystery man eavesdropping on Smitty and Bill’s conversation? Suspicious. I love Kat in detective mode, but let’s be real—her hatred for Eva has layers. It’s consuming her. Leslie basically  confessed, but Kat’s too locked on Eva to see clearly. BlueSky user Genie called it; she is "blinded by disdain." I love that Ted and Martin have welcomed Eva in. Yes, she played a part, but they get it—she's been manipulated and gaslit. The Nicole and Leslie showdown wasn’t what I expected, but Daphne is delivering. Nicole’s used to controlling her emotions, but you can see the cracks. The pain is raw, but she only lets it show with those she truly trusts. Also, I want to see more legal and political drama. I am having trouble determining what the premise of the show is besides being about the Duprees. Two main characters are lawyers but there is no courtroom set? One is a Senator but no office? My suggestion would be to get rid of Ashley and Derek and replace them with people who add to the story. A friend of Naomi from law school.  My Performer of the Week: Colby Mohammed. Colby stood toe to toe with veteran actors and held her own. Speculation Corner The internet is buzzing—could Eva be a Dupree after all? Everyone keeps telling her she isn’t. In the soap world, that’s called an anvil . Don’t ignore it.

After seven adrenaline-pumping seasons, S.W.A.T.  officially signed off on May 16 with a two-part series finale. Hard to believe that we have really come to the end of the series. Nowadays, it is difficult for a series to get a second season, let alone 8 (and let’s not forget that S.W.A.T. has been saved from cancellation a couple of times) so now seems like a fitting time to conclude the story. Although, it is tough to see a show end with actors and crew having to move on, you don’t want a show to live longer than it should. (I won’t name names).  Titled “Ride or Die” and “Return to Base,” the final episodes of the CBS police drama delivered action, emotion, and closure. If you’ve followed Sgt. Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (played by Shemar Moore) and his elite team through countless high-stakes missions, this ending hits all the right notes. Let's get into the S.W.A.T. series finale recap. S.W.A.T. SERIES FINALE RECAP: MERCENARIES, EXPLOSIVES AND ONE FINAL FIGHT The S.W.A.T. series finale begins with the team tracking a group of carjackers, but the stakes quickly escalate when Russian mercenaries enter the scene. Their mission? Retrieve a dangerous captive set to be traded in a high-level prisoner swap. The mercenaries take things up a notch by planting hidden explosives across Los Angeles and launching a full-scale assault on S.W.A.T. headquarters. Not going to lie, I was digging this storyline. S.W.A.T. can definitely be over the top and the team crosses the line into what an actual real S.W.A.T. team would do, often acting as detectives, but that is what made the show unique and different from other police procedurals. Hondo, true to form, gets one final hand-to-hand showdown, while the team engage in a high-octane firefight to defend their base. Character Moments: Emotional Goodbyes and Lasting Bond s Despite the damage to their headquarters, the team’s spirit remains unbroken. In one of the finale's most heartfelt moments, Deacon reassures everyone, saying: “It’s just a building. It’s the people inside who matter.” That simple line encapsulates the essence of S.W.A.T.  which at the end of the day was a show grounded in loyalty, courage, and camaraderie. The episode and the series ends with a touching gesture: Deacon gifts Rolex watches to his teammates which is clearly a nod to both their shared history and the show's underlying theme. As the team responds to one final call, they each tap the S.W.A.T. insignia, a symbolic farewell to fans and to each other. S.W.A.T. Series Ending Explained: Why It Worked The S.W.A.T.  series finale didn’t just go out with a bang and bullets flying,  it honored its characters, their journeys, and the fans who stood by for seven seasons. While I pondered if the show should just move to streaming on Paramount+, I ended up with the conclusion that I am ok going out on a high and like I said eight seasons is something to be proud of. While this is goodbye, it is also a congratulations to the cast and crew led by Shemar Moore. Hey, now that he is free, maybe he can return to roots in daytime tv and make a debut on CBS’ Beyond the Gates. In disappointing news for fans of supernatural dramas, The Bondsman  has been cancelled after only one season on Prime Video. The Kevin Bacon-led series premiered on April 3 with an eight-episode season, but the streamer has decided not to move forward with a second installment. The Bondsman  cancellation comes as a surprise to some, given the star power and the backing of Blumhouse Television. Bacon starred as Hub Halloran, a tough-as-nails bounty hunter who is murdered on the job and mysteriously brought back to life. His new mission? To track down escaped demons and send them back to hell. Despite the intriguing premise, the show didn’t gain enough traction to secure a renewal. Created by Grainger David with Arrow  and Carnival Row  alum Erik Oleson as showrunner, The Bondsman  featured a notable supporting cast including Jolene Purdy, Beth Grant, Jennifer Nettles, Maxwell Jenkins, and Damon Herriman. Still, the ensemble and creative pedigree weren’t enough to prevent the Bondsman cancellation. Prime Video has not shared specific reasons for why Bondsman  was cancelled, but the decision highlights the cutthroat nature of the streaming world, where even ambitious genre series with well-known leads can struggle to find long-term success. Although The Bondsman  has been cancelled, fans can still stream the complete first season on Prime Video. For those drawn to dark fantasy, undead bounty hunters, and demon-chasing action, the show offers a standalone season worth exploring. With Bondsman cancelled , it joins a growing list of high-concept series that burned brightly but briefly in today’s fast-paced content landscape. Eva: I feel like I lost everything. Mona (reaches out her hand, appearing sympathetic): Good. When I tell you I audibly gasped and said “Oops!” I meant it. Ms. Karan Kendrick has been serving for the past two weeks, but this week? I had to give her performance of the week. The moment I saw her last name was Kendrick, I instantly thought of Kendrick Lamar—because just like him, she’s been dropping bars. Whether it’s in her lines, her facial expressions, or her body language, Karan Kendrick embodies culture. She’s giving “that’s my auntie, and she doesn’t play.” The scenes between Karan and Ambyr Michelle have been phenomenal—from Mona sizing Eva up at the country club with visible disappointment after learning about Eva and Leslie/Dana/Sherry/Anna/Lulu’s scheme against Ted and Nicole, to confronting Eva again at the poker table. Mona chewed her out, listened to her pain, and gave the illusion of sympathy—until she made it very clear she was not here for it. She still has smoke for Eva. Mona is extremely close to the Duprees, and that small gesture—reaching out her hand—was not forgiveness. It was her way of saying: I’m still angry. You’re a grown woman who couldn’t stand firm in her convictions. And now I have to clean up the mess you made—even after I was kind to you. The scenes she shared with Trish (who plays Dana/Leslie/Anna/Lulu/Sherry) were just as powerful. Confronting someone you considered a friend—someone who betrayed you and jeopardized not only your job, but your relationship with your boss and the reputation you’ve built—that’s no small thing. And Karan delivered it flawlessly. Those three scenes were absolutely insane—in the best way. The emotion. The body language. The stillness. The subtle movements in her face that revealed just how deeply she disagreed with everything Eva and her mother had done. Karan may not be on the main cast, but I’m eagerly waiting to see which storylines she gets pulled into next, because she has been outstanding since the big reveal. Kudos to you, Karan Kendrick—and congratulations on being Soapwire’s Performance of the Week.

Hope and Steffy continue discussing Liam and his diagnosis. They’re both devastated, deeply concerned for him, and worried about their daughters. Liam meets with Bill, and both express regret over how they left things. They agree it’s time to move forward. “Life’s too short,” Liam says. Sheila rudely interrupts to talk about Luna, expressing gratitude for Bill’s support and hoping Finn will eventually see in Luna what Bill did. Once Sheila leaves, Liam says he believes his father had good reasons for helping Luna. He shifts the conversation back to them, thanks Bill, and tells him he loves him. Bill echoes the sentiment. Their moment is interrupted when Liam gets a text from Hope and rushes out. Liam meets Hope, and they reflect on their mistakes and the love they once shared. They cry and hug, walking through their past—both the good and the bad. Liam encourages her to give Carter another chance. They talk about Beth, their miracle, and how much they all mean to each other. As they talk, Liam realizes Hope knows he’s sick. She confirms it, and he guesses correctly that Steffy told her. They talk through how he found out and how Steffy and Finn have known from the start. Meanwhile, Luna shows up at the cliff house, begging Finn to accept her. She says she feels remorse for killing two people and nearly killing Steffy (which, honestly, is laughable). Finn flat-out rejects her, telling her that she nearly killed his wife—his entire life—and she will never be welcome. Steffy walks in, shocked to see Luna there, and firmly backs Finn up. Luna says she won’t bother them anymore and leaves. Steffy hopes she respects their boundaries. Deacon and Sheila discuss her continued lack of access to Finn. She’s jealous of Deacon being around Hope and Beth. He reminds her she agreed not to contact Luna either. After Deacon leaves, Luna sneaks in to vent about her situation with Finn—and, of course, she blames Steffy (accountability clearly gone). At the office, Carter is thinking about Hope when Brooke shows up. They talk about how different it feels without her. While they don’t regret giving the company back, there’s some guilt lingering. Brooke believes Carter still loves Hope—and that Hope loves him too. She’s just being protective as a mother. Carter says he won’t give up on her. Steffy realizes Liam is out and suspects he’s with Hope. She knows he’s drawing strength from her. Liam, meanwhile, reflects on his life—from his mother to Bill, his brothers, Steffy, Hope, and his daughters. He’s thankful. He expresses his love for Hope, apologizes for his past mistakes, and says even in death, he’ll never be far from her or Beth. Hope insists there will be a treatment, and she’ll be right there with him. When he gets dizzy, she supports him. Steffy and Finn continue discussing Liam’s illness. Soon, Taylor arrives, and they confide in her (which, honestly, is wrong—Steffy’s out here telling everybody about Liam’s diagnosis!). Taylor offers her support. They agree that while this is Liam’s story to tell, Hope had a right to know, and he deserves support. Daphne sees Carter and continues to press her case, insisting she’s better for him than Hope. She brings up Hope’s past with men and warns that Hope will break his heart. Carter walks away. Later, Daphne’s still thinking about Carter when Brooke shows up and declares that Carter and Hope are still in love. Daphne respectfully disagrees. She appreciates Brooke defending her daughter but still doesn’t believe Hope is the right woman for Carter. Meanwhile, as Hope and Liam continue reminiscing—complete with flashbacks—Carter overhears part of the conversation. He misinterprets it, thinking Hope wants to be with Liam romantically. He doesn’t hear the part where Liam encourages Hope to give Carter another chance. Hurt and confused, Carter storms off to the office. He and Daphne head to his loft to talk privately. Carter laments that he always chooses wrong. Daphne uses the opportunity to point out Hope’s history and promises she’d never treat him that way. Carter reluctantly agrees—she might be right.

Johnny answers Chanel’s question—he did not shoot his father. He says there’s a difference between wishing someone harm and actually pulling the trigger. She believes him but insists he needs to find a better way to handle his anger. Paulina interrupts, focused on doing damage control after the Sweet Bits and Sarah situation. Once she leaves, Johnny apologizes and tells Chanel he’s taking the job at Titan-DiMera and has started therapy. Just as he’s about to leave, Chanel asks him to come home. Brady arrives, creating an awkward moment by mentioning Tate missing Holly, which prompts her to leave. Phillip tries to pump Brady for information, but Brady doesn’t fall for it. Meanwhile, Kristen tries to convince Alex to help her get back into the company, but he declines. Roman tells Kate he confessed to Johnny about the missing gun—which he found in the DiMera garden. He hasn’t told Sami or Johnny the full story, not wanting to make things worse. Kate opens up about Vivian, Phillip, and the forgery mess. The Episode Opens in an Unexpected Place The episode opens in an unexpected place, ASA Nina Chapman waking up on Voight’s couch. It’s quiet, a little uncomfortable. She apologizes, but Voight shrugs it off. They talk briefly, about her crashing there, about the classical music ringtone. Voight says it was his late wife’s and he just never changed it. They share coffee, but the peace is short-lived. Crime Stats and a Disturbing Discovery At the district, Voight gets the quarterly crime report. Murders in Longdale’s Little Village are down by 30%. It sounds good, but Dante Torres and the rest of the unit know better. They suspect Deputy Chief Reid is cleaning up the numbers by suppressing real investigations. Voight doesn’t argue, he just says they need to find the evidence to bring Reid down. The Break Comes Through Mazo Otero That crack comes in the form of Mazo, Jesús Otero’s son. Mazo is just 18, fresh out of high school. Otero’s done everything in his power to keep him clean, especially after losing his wife in a car accident five years ago. But Mazo’s been drifting. One minute he’s posting about Pokémon Go, the next he’s fronting like he’s in deep. When Intelligence gets a tip that he’s dealing heroin in Berwyn, they move in. It goes bad fast. When officers approach, Mazo bolts. Kim Burgess gives chase on foot. Then he turns, fires a shot at her. Kevin Atwater reacts without hesitation, slamming into Mazo with the car and stopping him from getting away. They arrest him, cuff him, and haul him into a safe house in order to use him as leverage on his father. He’s scared but defiant, asking to make a call. Voight lays it out: attempted murder of a cop, drug charges. If he wants out, he needs to give up something big. He stays silent. Otero tells him to stay strong and hang in there, but it’s clear he’s rattled. Voight sees the opening and presses. Otero admits Reid has been keeping the cops off his back. No cash, just control, burner phones swapped every week. When asked if Reid ordered the killing of Jesse Clark, Otero hesitates. One of Reid’s men “took care of it.” That’s all he says. A Robbery, a Clue, and a Twist Later, Ray and Otero are putting cash in bags. They are ripped for $750,000 in cash. Two masked men hit his basement and vanish. Voight re-watches surveillance from the funeral home and notices something — that Ray is texting someone right after the money’s taken. That’s when it hits him: they’ve been made. Reid has eyes on Otero, too. Voight orders the team to pull back. They double-check all surveillance. At first, it looks like Otero is home. But then they notice a white van showing up twenty minutes before he gets there. They run the tag and track it through city cams all the way to a known meth farm in another town. A Grim Discovery Intelligence raids the place. It’s remote and quiet. They clear the house, the barn, the shed. Then Voight radios in — he’s found blood and disturbed ground. He tells the team to find shovels. They dig. And when they’re done, they find Otero, murdered, buried. Reid didn’t just tie up a loose end. He erased a threat. Reid Strikes Hard and Fast Just when you think it can’t go further, it does. Reid rolls in with police behind him. Torres is arrested, charged with official misconduct for a sexual relationship with his CI, Gloria Perez. Then Burgess is blindsided, stripped of her badge and suspended without pay for allegedly helping Torres cover it up. No warning. No hearing. Just done. And then the final blow: Voight’s entire Intelligence Unit is officially disbanded. Reid reads the order aloud like it’s nothing. “Do you have any questions?” he asks Voight. Voight just stares at him and says, “No.” Reid has dismantled the team piece by piece. He took out their leverage, exposed their weak points, and went straight for Voight. And he didn’t just beat them — he erased them. The Silence After the Storm The episode ends not with justice, but silence. The kind that settles in when you’ve lost the whole game, and didn’t even see the checkmate coming. I’m not sure how the team will recover. Voight seems defeated and when Chapman goes to his house to try and help him, he leaves her just banging on his door. This doesn’t look good for the Intelligence team. I need answers ASAP. We will find out next week on the season finale.
