The emotional tension between Ellie and Dina escalates when Ellie reveals the trauma of torturing Nora and confesses her knowledge of Joel’s past actions in Salt Lake City. The revelations spark a quiet rift, pushing the two emotionally apart even as they cling to survival. Jesse and Ellie set out to find Tommy, navigating a war-torn Seattle filled with Wolves and Seraphites. Grief is never easy to portray with authenticity, but this week on Criminal Minds: Evolution, A.J. Cook delivered a raw, heartbreaking performance that earns her our Performer of the Week . As Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, Cook stepped into the emotional fallout of an unthinkable tragedy: the sudden death of JJ’s husband, Will. Cook has always grounded JJ with quiet strength and resolve, but this episode asked more of her—pain, confusion, guilt—and she met every beat with haunting realism. JJ isn’t someone who breaks easily. But Cook allowed us to see the cracks: the dazed silence, the trembling attempts at normalcy, and the searing heartbreak of a woman who’s lost her partner of nearly two decades. It was in the stillness, the softest lines, that the weight of her loss landed hardest. One of the most affecting moments came during JJ’s interactions with Will’s grieving mother (played with quiet devastation by Linda Lavin). Cook didn’t just play sorrow—she embodied the complex guilt of a widow questioning whether she could have somehow prevented the unpreventable. Sharing scenes with her real-life sons, Mekhai and Phoenix, added another layer of poignancy. Cook’s portrayal of JJ as a mother struggling to support her sons through their own grief was nothing short of gut-wrenching. And then came the reunion with Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), where Cook gracefully shifted into the comfort of old friendships—a fleeting warmth amid so much sorrow. Through it all, Cook gave a performance filled with subtlety, humanity, and heartbreak. She didn’t just play grief—she lived it, and in doing so, reminded us all why JJ remains one of the series’ most enduring hearts.

The season finale of Chicago P.D.  delivers one of the most emotionally charged and chaotic episodes yet, and it doesn’t waste a second getting into the storm. It opens with Voight and the team still reeling from Internal Affairs launching a full-blown investigation into the Intelligence Unit. Reid has stripped everyone of their powers or reassigned them to patrol on probationary status. Voight’s facing the pressure head-on, but his world is closing in fast, and you can feel that this isn’t just a threat to his job — it’s a threat to everything he’s built. The team scrambles to pull together whatever evidence they can to take Reid down, but they know the clock is ticking. The key to cracking this open lies in the Otero case — the murder that Reid likely ordered and Joseph Caldero carried out. They’ve got some pieces already: two people can confirm Caldero as corrupt, one of them directly linking him to Reid, and ballistics place him at two different murders. But as strong as that looks, Voight knows it’s not enough. They need hard proof that Reid gave the kill order. Without that direct connection, it’s all still circumstantial. Burgess and Ruzek Get the Breakthrough Burgess and Ruzek are the ones who get the breakthrough. They go to the safe house to talk to Renny and try to get a description of Caldero. Renny says he isn’t sure. Just then, someone breaks into the safe house trying to take Renny out — with Ruzek and Burgess in the crossfire. Renny gives them a little that identifies Caldero. Voight tracks down Caldero. He sets up a meeting under the pretense of a CI tip and confronts him with everything they’ve got. Caldero tries to play it cool, but Voight’s direct: two murders, solid ballistics, and his only shot at survival is turning on Reid. Caldero rants about the job being a joke, how law and order are dead, and how none of them have any real power anymore. He’s bitter, angry, and tired. But in the end, he flips. He agrees to give them everything. But before they can act on it, it all goes sideways. Caldero is cuffed and put in the back of the truck. Voight calls it in and tells them they are coming in; he took the deal. Caldero jumps to the front and steers the car off the side of a bridge. They crash and roll. Voight and Ruzek make it out of the truck and pull Caldero out. Voight is yelling, trying to stop the bleeding. They’re desperate to get a name — something, anything — but the man they’re trying to save dies before he can speak. It’s brutal. You can feel the helplessness. Voight is trying to hold everything together while the ground keeps crumbling underneath him. The Final Accusation Against Reid The team tries to regroup, trying to see if they have any other way to get Reid. Voight is at a loss. Just when it seems like it can’t get worse, he receives a text that a preliminary hearing on his unit is at 8:00 am the next day. Voight arrives at headquarters and is greeted by fellow police. They tell him this is just preliminary. Reid approaches the group of officers. Just then, shots ring out. Reid is hit. Renny yells that he killed his father. He spills it all — how Reid was in on the drug trade, how Caldero and Silva were part of it, how he saw it firsthand. It’s loud, raw, and public. And it lands hard. This isn’t just a tip, it’s a full-blown accusation backed by someone who lived it. From that moment, the case against Reid is no longer something whispered behind closed doors. It’s out. He wanted to be with family, and there was nothing legally holding him. He goes on to say that they took Renny’s statement, and Silva’s statement ends up confirming what Renny said. Internal Affairs is still on their way to pick up their evidence. Voight says the unit is still under investigation, but now Reid is the one under fire. Torres, one of the detectives, says it out loud: “So… it’s over?” And for the first time, the answer is yes. Burgess and Ruzek finally take a moment for themselves. Ruzek reflects on how they postponed their wedding, and now realizes they shouldn’t have. Kim agrees. Life is unpredictable, and after everything they’ve been through, they just want to hold onto something good. There’s no firm decision made, but you can feel it — they’re ready to take that step when the time is right. They decide to have their wedding. It’s a happy time, with everyone smiling for the first time in a long time. I feel that this wedding that we have been waiting for for years should have had more of an impact on this episode, especially with the episode being named “Vows.” Voight Faces the Fallout But the final moment hits hard. ADA Chapman confronts Voight about Reid’s death. They’ve figured it out — Silva’s brother got out early, Renny was relocated, and Reid didn’t just fall. He was taken out. And Voight let it happen. Maybe he didn’t say the words, but the message was clear. He allowed it. They remind him of who he used to be — the man who believed in doing things the right way, even if it wasn’t the easy way. But Voight, looking completely worn down, says quietly, “I don’t get more.” Final Thoughts The finale was great, and we got to see a glimpse of the old Hank Voight. But was it worth it at the end? That’s the million-dollar question that we have to wait until next season to answer.

Title:  Dying to Meet You (ARC) Author: Roisin Visser Genre:   Romantic Suspense Rating: Enjoyed Spice: Flamin Hot Cheeto Synopsis: Dying to Meet You continues after Twisted Allegiance.  After the fall of Camp Carrol: Eden, Matt, Keir, Caleb, Hutton & Blaine,  are trying to raise their three children and foster three more, while still learning to trust one another.  When Eden begins getting messages with connections to her past, the men circle the wagons and try to protect their family, but old secrets are revealed and ties are tested.  Thoughts: Check trigger warnings   This story is full of suspense and spice. Eden is the typical woman who hasn’t really dealt with her trauma, instead helping others cope with theirs. Being a therapist who specifically helps those coming out of cult like situations, much like her and some of her husbands, probably isn’t the best way to actually deal, but it's how she’s trying to move on. Her fierce drive to protect her children, including her three new foster kids, and give them a home full of light and love is admirable when you take into consideration everything all the adults and children have been through.  Sadly the next generation is fated to grapple with their own future traumas as their parents' past comes to haunt them all.  Although not my usual branch of the romance genre, Dying to Meet You had a lot of aspects of my usual reads.  Sexy men. Check. (theres 5 of them) Drama. Check. (telenovela anyone?) Banter. Check. (Blaine has a smart mouth that should be filled more often.)  Spice. Double Check. (I love when the husbands are also husbands, so many more scenarios!) If you’re looking for all those things plus some mildly dark suspense, this book is for you. Beyond the Gates – Weekly Recap 05/19-05/23/25 Dani and Pam are riding high on their winning streak, celebrating like they just hit the lotto. Meanwhile, over at Orphey’s, Joey is in full mob mode, threatening Doug with that simmering menace we’ve come to expect. Across town, Vanessa is on the phone with Nicole, likely spilling tea or trying to stay ten steps ahead. Oh, and because some people never learn, Ashley and Derek are on AGAIN. Insert dramatic eye roll here. At Orphey’s, Ted meets up with Andre. They have a heart to heart. Eva soon joins and is surprised that it is a birthday lunch that includes a gift. Andre soon leaves father and daughter to catch up. Meanwhile, Jacob brings Leslie in for questioning. She’s slick as hair grease, completely unbothered, spinning lies like she’s auditioning for a psychodrama. She claims she was just toying with Kat, giving her the answers that she expected. Since Jacob doesn’t have enough to hold her, she walks much to Kat's disappointment. Later, Leslie meets with Eva and drops yet another bomb—she tells her point blank  that she ran Laura off the road. It is all part of her consistent manipulation tactics. She warns Eva that if she talks, she’s an accessory after the fact. Eva folds under the pressure and when Jacob shows up to question her she avoids telling Jacob the truth as Leslie listens in from a nearby booth. Eva has a solid alibi which Jacob is able to confirm. Later, Tomas comforts Eva. He flirts, shares a little about his past, and draws a comparison between Leslie and his own toxic father. Sweet, right? Well, not so fast—just before that, while defending Eva he practically called Kat a spoiled brat and dismissed her claims that Eva’s an attempted murderer. Soon after he soothes her with his words and kisses. Kat, come on. You’re smarter than this. Speaking of Kat, she plays the recording for Nicole and Ted. Nicole, our resident psychiatrist, is ready to believe Eva’s guilty. I had to pause for a deep sigh. I get it, Eva is the product of an affair, but it was Ted’s  affair. Nicole has worked closely with Eva. Does she really  believe she’s capable of attempted murder? Ted, thankfully, isn’t drinking Leslie's Kool-Aid. He’s convinced Leslie is behind it all. The thing is, this is going to blow back on Eva if she doesn’t speak up. I need  her to tell the truth. Nicole tells Ted it’s time to handle Leslie and protect their family. Agreed. Of course Leslie, who doesn’t understand boundaries, pops up at Eva’s hotel room. Eva finally tells her to get out, but instead of making sure she leaves, she walks out before Leslie does, giving her the perfect opportunity to keep the door from locking. Girl. No. Leslie sneaks back in. Ted arrives and catches her in the act. They argue. She threatens to ruin Eva’s life, and Ted makes it clear: stay away from his family and that includes Eva. He will go to the ends of the earth to protect them. He is done playing nice. Elsewhere, Anita and Vernon kiss. He offers to stay and be her buffer for dinner with Tracy, but she declines. It becomes clear that Tracy is bitter, jealous, and holding onto years of resentment. She throws shade about Anita “winning the lottery,” but it’s Sharon who really seems like the volcano waiting to erupt. This story has layers, and I am ready for it. There are definitely secrets waiting to surface, about Anita, Vernon, or both. Meanwhile, Doug is frantically looking for Vanessa at the hospital, only to find her laughing it up at Orphey’s with Joey. He watches Joey wreck his life like it's a sport, and then… just leaves. No fight, no confrontation. Just sad puppy eyes. This one is about to heat up. As for Ashley and Derek, they’re arguing about an apartment most of us assumed they already shared. Manufactured angst, table for two. Writers, please know that Ashley and Derek remain the weakest link. And while I hated Andre blowing Dani off for Ashley, I at least understood that he felt used. Dani told him she didn’t want anything serious, and he took it to heart, but come on, he should’ve understood why she said it. Free Andre from the boring duo. Highlights Ted and Leslie facing off. Jacob and Kat getting closer to the truth. Andre and Dani get intimate but then Andre gets let down. Pam and Dani Nicole going back to work. Lowlights Ashley and Derek taking up every single day of the week excluding Friday. Kat the detective with heavy bias. A good detective investigates without bias and prejudice. Vanessa trying to check Ted when she is a serial cheater. Eva covering for Leslie. Final Thoughts on Beyond the Gates: Eva is one tear away from being buried under Leslie's bad decisions. Kat’s judgment is getting annoying. She is focused on Eva because she doesn't like her and she is willing to sacrifice the truth for it. She saw LESLIE in Laura's room. All signs point to Leslie but she wants Eva to be guilty due to her personal vendetta. I’m still not over Nicole jumping to conclusions about Eva. Ted’s finally taking charge, but the clock is ticking. Eva, it’s time to wake up and speak up. Why is it that Naomi is a Dupree but we get more of Ashley's point of view than we get of her or Chelsea's? Please know that we do not care about Ashley or Derek and it is to the point that I fast forward them or do something else if I am watching live. I am a fan of the show and want it to succeed but the issues I mentioned in a previous recap remain. Let's recap them: Lack of continuity - What happened to Jacob's dirty partner? The lawsuit that never was. Chelsea's identity crisis happening mostly offscreen. Filler weeks instead of days. I shouldn't be able to tune out for a full week then come back the following week never having missed a beat or a story. Characters lacking backstory or depth - Hayley is miscast. You want her in a big girl story but she has no boss energy. She looks like a child next to Bill and appears as an airhead. I thought and hoped she would be a schemer. Someone who had a motive. Instead she is a Bill cheerleader impressed with jewelry and vacations who lacks her own agency. Boring. Drama centered around two storylines involving two Dupree women - The Duprees need a rival family. Every soap has them. I struggle with knowing the direction of the show. Y&R, it is about business,has rival families. GH, started with rivalries but became overrun with the mob and lost the plot. Bold is centered around the beauty industry and often has a rival family. It doesn't do a good job of that anymore but you get the gist. We want drama, love in the afternoon (not limited to Dani and Ashley), we want to invest in stories and have payoff for our investment. It is still early and these things are all very fixable. Please fix them.

The Chicago Fire season finale opens on a quieter note, but one that’s full of heart. Severide and Stella have welcomed Natalie into their home. With permission from her sister, Natalie is staying with them for a few nights after the emotional blow of visiting her mom’s old apartment. She doesn’t say much, but it’s obvious that the comfort and stability of Stella and Severide’s home is something she desperately needs. There’s no pressure, just warmth, a safe place in the middle of a storm. The Robert Franklin Case Heats Up At OFI, the Robert Franklin case is still looming. One of the investigators goes back through the files and admits he’s lost. Everything seems to point to Pascal and being taken in for questioning doesn’t help. The police make it clear that Pascal had access, knowledge, and a possible motive. But something’s off. Van Meter goes to Severide and lets him know maybe the simplest explanation is the right one. Severide doesn’t believe it was Pascal. Yes, it was the work of a firefighter. But maybe they’ve been looking at the wrong one the entire time. Maybe it’s Hendricks trying to get revenge on Pascal. Severide Follows a Trail That’s Going Cold CHICAGO FIRE -- "It Had To End This Way" Episode 13022 -- Pictured: (l-r) Taylor Kinney as Kelly Severide, Dermot Mulroney as Chief Dom Pascal -- (Photo by: Peter Gordon/NBC) Severide tries to chase down leads, they hit roadblocks. Out of ten names connected to the case, seven are already incarcerated or out of state. Two check out but lead nowhere. Hendricks, once a strong suspect, hasn’t made a call in months and is now dying of pancreatic cancer. He’s no longer a real player in this. The case is starting to feel colder by the second, until something new comes to light. Emergency Response: A Building Collapse and a Life on the Line While that’s unfolding, the house is called out to a building collapse. A man is trapped, and his wife is outside, frantic. He’s had a heart attack before and isn’t responding now. The team moves fast. Inside, the floor’s unstable, and the man’s vitals are dropping. Violet is told she has to leave because of the instability of the structure. She will have to walk Carver through the process. He needs to start an intraosseous infusion, drilling directly into the bone to deliver fluids. Carver admits he has never done one before, but he steps up. With calm coaching and a steady hand, he pulls it off. His vitals stabilize, and they get him out in time. Violet and Carver: A Communication Breakdown At the same time, Violet is struggling with Carver. She’s been feeling a distance between them, and Ritter gently points out something important: she poured all her feelings into a letter she never gave him. So while she’s already processed everything and feels emotionally closer, Carver’s still in the dark. Maybe it’s not that he’s being distant, maybe he just doesn’t know how far she’s already gone emotionally. It’s a moment of real clarity for Violet, and it hits hard. Family and Forgiveness: Julia Confronts Stella Back at Severide and Stella’s, Julia shows up. She tells Stella she’s not letting Natalie go without a fight. She knows she hasn’t done everything right, juggling school, work, and caring for a traumatized teenager has been more than overwhelming, but she wants to do better. She will do better. Stella tells her she’s not trying to take Natalie away, she just wants to help. All Natalie really needs is to hear that she’s wanted. That someone is showing up for her. It’s one of the most honest and compassionate conversations of the episode. The Real Culprit Behind the Franklin Case Pascal, meanwhile, has started digging through Monica’s phone and finds messages that clearly rattle him. The full context isn’t shown, but they lead to a confrontation with another firefighter, one who had been obsessively messaging Monica even after being told to stop. When Pascal confronts him, the guy brushes it off as love. But it wasn’t. It was an obsession. And it turns out he wasn’t just emotionally reckless, he was the one who targeted Franklin. Surveillance placed his car at the scene, and records show he ordered a replacement part days before. The case finally breaks wide open. Pascal was innocent. They were chasing the wrong man all along. Hermann’s Selfless Decision: Passing the Torch CHICAGO FIRE -- "It Had To End This Way" Episode 13022 -- Pictured: David Eigenberg as Christopher Herrmann -- (Photo by: Peter Gordon/NBC) Then comes the emotional gut-punch of the night: Hermann steps down as Captain, not because he’s done, but because he wants Mouch to finally have his shot at being Captain. It’s a huge, selfless decision. Hermann tells him he’s not going anywhere, he’ll still be at 51, just back to being a regular firefighter. He says it honestly: being chief and behind a desk was never truly his calling, but Mouch deserves this chance. You can see how much it means to both of them. It’s not a goodbye, it’s just a shift in where their hearts belong. Love and Closure for Violet and Sam As things settle, Sam takes a moment to tell Violet that he loves her. And Violet, who’s been through so much, doesn’t hesitate to say it back. It’s a small moment, but it lands beautifully. It feels real, honest, and like something that’s been building all season. A Quiet Revelation: Stella’s Big News And then, the final twist hits. Stella approaches Severide with something heavy in her eyes. She tells him there’s something he needs to see. And without much more, she tells him she's pregnant. A Strong End With an Unresolved Goodbye The episode ends right there. No big music cue. No overdone emotion. Just two people, standing at the edge of a brand new chapter.This finale hit every note. There was emotional weight, powerful character moments, deep friendships, hard decisions, and just enough resolution to breathe, while still leaving plenty open. Chicago Fire  didn’t just close a season, it lit the fuse for something even bigger next year. The only problem with the season finale is that we all know that Ritter and Carver will not be back next season and there was no conclusion to their departures. I guess we will find out next season. For now, great job to the cast and crew of Chicago Fire .
