Will Trent Season 4 Finale Recap: A Kidnapping, A Shocking Death, and a Game-Changing Twist

A woman with facial injuries lies in a hospital bed, looking distressed. She's in a patterned gown, with an IV drip nearby and soft lighting.

Public urination seemed like a reasonable cause for questioning, but it quickly became clear it was all a setup. Two fake officers used the moment to kidnap the unsuspecting daughter of a prominent doctor. Lizzie had no idea her own friend had orchestrated the situation until it was too late. When one of the teens tried to intervene, he was struck, and the scene cut out on a shocking note.

The episode briefly shifted tone with a team baseball game between Team Lab and Team Law. Ormewood’s home run gave Team Law hope, while Pete’s call at the plate kept things competitive. When it came down to Will stepping up to bat, confidence was low across the board. Despite encouragement from Faith, Angie, and even his father watching from the stands, Will struggled. He managed to make contact, but the ball was caught, ending the game. Still, his father proudly celebrated the moment, making it feel like a small personal victory. It was a lighthearted sequence that could have served as a calm before the storm.

Back at work, the tone shifted immediately. Angie reassured Will about the game, while Ormewood revealed he had money riding on the outcome. Their banter was cut short when they were met with a new case. Three teens reported that their friend Lizzie had been taken by two officers, but inconsistencies quickly raised suspicion. Will’s instincts kicked in, and he determined that the officers were impostors and that Lizzie had been kidnapped.

Faith visited Lizzie’s parents and began digging into possible motives. Dr. Lassen, a concierge physician, initially denied having any enemies, but his wife mentioned a former nurse who had been fired for stealing medication. Meanwhile, surveillance footage revealed that the “officers” were wearing uniforms connected to a TV production. Franklin identified one of them as an actor from a police procedural filmed in Atlanta, opening a new lead.

As Angie followed up with the dismissed nurse, more inconsistencies surfaced. At the same time, Will uncovered financial red flags tied to Dr. Lassen, suggesting he might be involved in something deeper than he admitted. Franklin and Ormewood traced the stolen uniforms back to a studio, where footage confirmed that Nick, one of Lizzie’s friends had taken them. What initially seemed random was now clearly targeted.

Will and Faith continued piecing together Nick’s background. His apartment was nearly empty, and his history included violent incidents that hinted at deeper trauma. A breakthrough came when they discovered a recorded message from Lizzie on his laptop, confirming she was alive. When Faith delivered the update to Lizzie’s mother, a new concern arose: Dr. Lassen had disappeared, and his gun was missing.

The investigation grew more urgent as the team uncovered details about stolen medication, including large quantities of morning-after pills and antiviral drugs. Using clues from Lizzie’s video, they tracked her location to an older building. Faith and Ormewood entered and found Lizzie, but the situation escalated quickly. Faith was knocked unconscious, Nick was captured, and Lizzie escaped with another girl.

During interrogation, Will and Faith uncovered a disturbing connection. Nick’s tattoo matched one seen on a previous victim,

suggesting ties to a trafficking operation. As they pressed further, it became clear that Lizzie’s kidnapping was not just about money. The case pointed to a much larger network involving powerful individuals. Nick’s anger and fear underscored the scope of what they were dealing with, hinting at a storyline that will likely carry into next season.

As the team regrouped, Angie went into labor, adding urgency and emotion to an already intense situation. Despite the chaos surrounding them, the team pushed forward, though it became clear that some aspects of the case were beyond their control due to political implications.

What followed was a devastating turn that shifted the emotional weight of the episode. What initially felt like a moment of relief quickly became something far more tragic. Without revealing the full details, the loss that occurs leaves a lasting impact on the team and sets the tone for what comes next.

In the aftermath, the episode balanced grief with small moments of connection. Scenes involving Will, Angie, Nico, and Betty provided a sense of healing, even as the weight of recent events lingered. Will ultimately made the decision to take a leave of absence, signaling a turning point for his character.

The closing moments teased major changes ahead. New leadership at the GBI, evolving partnerships, and an ominous hint tied to Faith’s investigation all pointed toward a high-stakes future. Amanda’s legacy remained a guiding force, reinforcing the idea that justice is worth fighting for, no matter the cost.

This finale delivered emotional depth, strong performances, and significant story development. It closed out the season with both heartbreak and hope, leaving a lasting impression and setting up compelling threads for what comes next. I give this episode 5 out of 5 stars.
