What to Watch Wednesday, October 28: ‘Abbott Elementary,’ ‘Chicago Fire’ & ‘Love Is Blind’

Wednesday television is bringing Halloween mischief, hospital emergencies, reality-TV heartbreak and a championship that could be decided tonight. Abbott Elementary celebrates spooky season with a party that has Janine and Jacob asking questions, while NBC delivers three new episodes of its One Chicago dramas.
Meanwhile, Love Is Blind moves closer to the altar, The Challenge crowns its Season 42 winners, and the Tampa Bay Rays fight to keep their World Series hopes alive. Between romance, reality competition and people making questionable decisions, Wednesday has plenty of entertainment to go around.
TV Cave Top Pick: Abbott Elementary
Our TV Cave Top Pick goes to Abbott Elementary, airing tonight at 8:30 PM ET on ABC. Halloween is taking over Abbott, and Ava is hosting an exclusive party that immediately raises suspicions for Janine and Jacob. Naturally, the two can't resist investigating what Gregory might be up to, because minding their own business has never been a particularly strong skill at this school.
The episode gives the comedy an opportunity to lean into its wonderfully chaotic character dynamics while embracing the holiday. Between Ava's flair for making everything an event and Janine's inability to leave a mystery alone, we're expecting the kind of workplace nonsense that makes Abbott Elementary such a reliable midweek favorite.

One Chicago Brings Medical Emergencies, Arson and Another Dangerous Investigation
NBC's Wednesday lineup begins with Chicago Med at 8 PM. In “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow,” Charles finds himself at odds with a colleague over a family member's diagnosis, Frost considers what comes next for him, and someone from Goodwin's past returns. With personal relationships complicating medical decisions, Gaffney's staff has another difficult shift ahead.
At 9 PM, Chicago Fire puts Severide in the middle of an FBI investigation after a suspicious fire is connected to the kidnapping of a judge's daughter. The case brings together two dangerous situations, leaving Severide to determine how the blaze fits into a much larger crime.
Then at 10 PM, Chicago P.D. introduces an eager young officer whose investigation catches the attention of Intelligence. The episode, “My Eye, My Call,” offers another opportunity to explore the complicated relationship between street-level policing and Voight's team.
‘Love Is Blind’ Heads Toward the Altar as ‘The Challenge’ Crowns a Winner
Netflix releases three new episodes of Love Is Blind Season 11 today, bringing the Boston couples closer to the moment when they must decide whether their relationships can survive outside the pods.
The stakes are considerably higher now that the couples have experienced life together beyond their initial connections. Romantic promises are one thing, but making them permanent in front of family and friends is another matter entirely. The season's final episode arrives November 4, so today's installments are not the season finale.

Paramount+ also wraps Season 42 of The Challenge with the conclusion of its Cutthroat final. After a season of alliances, betrayals and physically demanding competitions, the remaining players battle for the $500,000 prize. At this stage, surviving the competition is an accomplishment of its own, but nobody has made it this far to settle for second place.
‘Survivor,’ World Series Game 5 and More Wednesday Entertainment
CBS continues Survivor at 8 PM, where the consequences of a recent tribal council threaten to create new divisions. At 9:30 PM, The Amazing Race heads through Albania, with teams facing an Intersection challenge and one pair working particularly hard to keep a secret from being exposed.

ABC also wraps Season 5 of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire at 9 PM, with reality-TV personalities Sarah Jane and Brooks Nader competing for charity, followed by Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che.
And on FOX, the Milwaukee Brewers face the Tampa Bay Rays in World Series Game 5 at 8 PM ET. Tampa Bay's dramatic extra-inning victory Tuesday prevented a sweep, but Milwaukee remains one win away from its first championship. For baseball fans, the stakes couldn't be much clearer.
For something lighter, Peacock premieres Minions & Monsters, an animated adventure that sends the Minions into 1920s Hollywood, where their attempt to make a monster movie creates considerably more trouble than expected.

Between Abbott Elementary celebrating Halloween, NBC's three Chicago dramas and several major reality-TV events, Wednesday is delivering a strong lineup. We're giving Abbott Elementary our Top Pick, but there's no shortage of competition for tonight's watchlist.
