What to Watch Saturday, October 24: ‘Forgotten Holiday,’ ‘48 Hours’ & World Series Game 2

Saturday television is serving up a little bit of everything, from Christmas romance and medical mysteries to baseball and Halloween nightmares. Hallmark continues its Countdown to Christmas celebration with Forgotten Holiday, while Lifetime premieres Secrets of Mercy Hospital, starring Judy Reyes.

Meanwhile, CBS has two new episodes of 48 Hours, the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers meet for Game 2 of the World Series, and AMC is making sure nobody gets too comfortable before Halloween. Apparently, we're supposed to go from Christmas miracles to serial killers without blinking.

TV Cave Top Pick: Forgotten Holiday

Our Top Pick goes to Forgotten Holiday, premiering tonight at 8 PM ET on Hallmark Channel. Janel Parrish stars as Kathryn Liu, an antiques buyer whose relationship with Rob Ashford, played by Daniel Lissing, takes an unexpected turn when he proposes marriage. Rather than immediately embracing their future together, Kathryn panics and leaves him without an answer.

Unfortunately, things get considerably worse when Rob is involved in a car accident that erases his memories of the previous year, including his relationship with Kathryn and his enthusiasm for Christmas.

Now Kathryn must help him rediscover their romance by revisiting the moments that brought them together. Nothing says holiday cheer quite like having to convince your boyfriend that he's in love with you all over again.

The movie offers a combination of romance, second chances and emotional complications, making it a strong choice for anyone ready to embrace the Christmas season a little early. Forgotten Holiday will also be available to stream Sunday, October 25, on Hallmark+.

Lifetime Brings Hospital Secrets While CBS Investigates Two Murders

Lifetime premieres Secrets of Mercy Hospital at 8 PM, with Judy Reyes playing Kendra, a woman whose involvement in an emergency childbirth leads her into the maternity and neonatal departments of an overwhelmed hospital.

What begins as an opportunity to help quickly becomes something more unsettling when Kendra encounters a secret connected to her past. Considering the title, we're guessing this hospital has been keeping considerably more than patient records behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, CBS delivers two new installments of 48 Hours beginning at 9 PM. The first investigates a woman's murder through surveillance footage, while the second examines a disturbing case involving two deaths and a mansion rumored to be cursed.

And because apparently two investigations aren't enough excitement for one Saturday, AMC has A Nightmare on Elm Street at 8 PM, followed by Friday the 13th at 10:15 PM. Freddy and Jason sharing the evening feels like a perfectly reasonable way to prepare for Halloween.

Christmas Movies and the World Series Round Out Saturday

Great American Family premieres A Christmas Prayer Tradition at 8 PM, reuniting Shae Robins and Christopher Russell for another holiday story set in Bellford Falls. The sequel follows Natalie as she prepares to release her children's book while her family discovers how small acts of kindness can make a difference.

For sports fans, the Milwaukee Brewers host the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the World Series at 8 PM on FOX. Both teams entered the championship series chasing their first title, giving baseball fans a little history alongside the usual October tension.

Between Hallmark's latest romance, Lifetime's hospital mystery, CBS's true-crime doubleheader and AMC's Halloween favorites, Saturday offers plenty of reasons to stay home.

We're giving Forgotten Holiday our Top Pick, but anyone looking for something darker won't have to search very hard.
