What to Watch Saturday, October 10: ‘48 Hours,’ ‘The Spirit of Halloween’ & ‘The Monster She Married’

Saturday television is trading its usual scripted dramas for a mix of true crime, Halloween romance and an early start to Christmas. CBS has 48 Hours, Lifetime is bringing Matthew Morrison to the darker side of television, and Hallmark is offering a little supernatural matchmaking.
Meanwhile, Candace Cameron Bure is getting the holiday season started on Great American Family, and Netflix and Hulu have new additions to their streaming libraries. October may be all about spooky season, but Christmas has already started knocking on the door.
TV Cave Top Pick: The Monster She Married
Tonight's Top Pick goes to The Monster She Married, premiering at 8 PM ET on Lifetime.
Matthew Morrison steps away from the charming teacher audiences remember from Glee to portray a deeply disturbing doctor in a thriller inspired by a real criminal case. Molly Saunders stars as Shelley, a woman forced to confront the horrifying reality of her marriage and the man she trusted for years.
The film explores manipulation, abuse and the devastating consequences of misplaced trust. It's a very different role for Morrison, and that alone makes this one of Saturday's more intriguing premieres.

Hallmark Gets Spooky While Great American Family Gets Festive
Hallmark Channel premieres The Spirit of Halloween at 8 PM, starring Meghan Ory and Kevin McGarry. Ory plays Everly Stone, a woman who isn't particularly interested in celebrating Halloween until a series of supernatural visitors gives her a new perspective on her life.
Over on Great American Family, Candace Cameron Bure and Jonathan Scarfe star in A Second Chance Christmas, also airing at 8 PM. The film follows divorced parents Anna and James, who find themselves stranded together during an ice storm and unexpectedly revisit the relationship they left behind. It's October 10, and Christmas movies have already entered the chat.
‘48 Hours’ Returns With More True Crime
CBS continues Season 39 of 48 Hours at 10 PM, offering another investigation into a real-life criminal case. The long-running newsmagazine remains a Saturday-night staple for viewers who prefer their mysteries rooted in actual events rather than fictional detectives.
With Lifetime also premiering The Monster She Married, true-crime fans have two major options tonight. One tells its story through a dramatized film, while the other relies on investigative reporting, giving viewers different approaches to the genre.
Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ Add New Titles
Netflix premieres 100 Days of Deception, a series about a pickpocket who takes on a dangerous undercover assignment during Japanese colonial rule. The streamer also adds the fashion documentary The First Monday in May, which takes viewers behind the scenes of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's celebrated Costume Institute exhibition.
Hulu adds the 2026 horror film Hokum, while Disney+ premieres Season 2 of Cartoonified! with Kiff: Shorts. It's a smaller streaming Saturday than Friday, but there's still something new for viewers who would rather skip the traditional television schedule.
Saturday's biggest choices come down to what kind of mood you're in. The Monster She Married gets our Top Pick, but Hallmark's Halloween offering and Great American Family's first Christmas movie of the season make for an interesting three-way competition.
