TV Casting Shakeups: Tracker Changes, God of War News, and More

A person with dreadlocks, wearing a dark jacket and gold chain, stands in a dimly lit room with shelves and a warm light in the background.

If you feel like your favorite shows are rotating cast members faster than a Gen Z-er swipes on Tinder, you aren’t alone. The television landscape is currently a whirlwind of "who’s in" and "who’s out," proving that in Hollywood, the only thing more permanent than a cliffhanger is a contract renegotiation. From the icy realms of Norse mythology to the high-stakes halls of Parliament, the latest casting news is delivering a mix of "finally!" and "wait, who?"

At The TV Cave, we live for the drama, both on-screen and in the HR departments of major studios. Grab your popcorn (and maybe a flow chart) as we dive into the most recent talent shuffles hitting your DVR.

From Tech Support to Top Billing: The Tracker Shuffle

CBS’s Tracker is doing a bit of housekeeping for Season 3. Chris Lee, who plays the tech-savvy Randy, has been officially promoted to series regular. While we’re happy for Lee, his gain is Eric Graise’s loss. Graise’s Bobby is hitting the road, leaving a "tech nerd" shaped void that Randy is clearly expected to fill. It’s the classic procedural pivot: out with the old hacker, in with the new. We just hope Randy has a better data plan.

Damson Idris Gets Trapped in Netflix’s The Lord’s Day

Fresh off Snowfall, Damson Idris is trading the 80s drug trade for a tuxedo and a claustrophobic nightmare. In Netflix’s upcoming thriller The Lord’s Day, Idris plays Harry Jones, a British spy stuck inside Parliament during a lockdown. It sounds like Die Hard meets The Crown, and frankly, we’re here for it. If anyone can make "trapped in a government building" look cool, it’s Idris. Let’s just hope the script has more substance than a typical C-SPAN broadcast.

Prime Video Finds Its Freya

The God of War adaptation is moving forward at Prime Video, and they’ve tapped Lost alum Sonya Walger to play Freya. As Odin’s ex-wife and a Vanir goddess with a penchant for ancient magic, Walger is a stellar choice. She has that "I might help you or I might hex you" energy that the role demands. Transitioning from a mysterious island to the Nine Realms seems like a lateral move for her, honestly.

Pilots and Paperwork: Protection and Bishop

Over at NBC, the drama pilot Protection (starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis) has added Taylor Bloom as an idealistic DOJ employee. We give his character three episodes before the "goodness of people" he believes in gets him into a world of trouble.

Meanwhile, Prime Video continues its quest for world dominance with Bishop. Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful) joins Joel Kinnaman and John Malkovich in this thriller. With a cast that talented, the show could be about watching paint dry and we’d still tune in, though Treadaway’s Wyatt likely has more interesting plans.

The Wrap-Up

Between the God-tier casting of Sonya Walger and the spy antics of Damson Idris, the latest casting news suggests that our watchlists are about to get very crowded. Whether it’s a procedural promotion on Tracker or a high-concept thriller on Netflix, the talent is moving, and we’re just here to judge their choices.

What do you think of the Tracker shakeup? Is Sonya Walger the Freya you imagined? Head over to the comments or find us on social media to vent, after all, that’s what The TV Cave is for.

Do you think Chris Lee’s promotion will change the dynamic of Tracker, or is he just a Bobby replacement with better WiFi?
