Paramount+ is rolling out the red carpet, or maybe the smoke machine for Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie, just in time for April 20. The new documentary follows the iconic comedy duo on a laugh-filled road trip to a mysterious destination known only as “The Joint,” blending animation, archival footage, and candid reflections on their legendary careers.
Directed by David Bushell, the film traces Cheech & Chong’s journey from childhood, through their 1960s partnership, to their breakup in the 1980s. Fans of the duo will get a front-row seat to the highs, lows, and absurdities that defined one of comedy’s most enduring partnerships.
After debuting to rave reviews at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival, Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie received a limited and nationwide theatrical release in April 2025. It currently holds an impressive 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, with praise pouring in from The New York Times, Variety, Collider, AV Club, and The Hollywood Reporter, the latter applauding the documentary for “delivering a nostalgic kick that you don’t even have to be high to enjoy.”
“Cheech & Chong's first movie Up In Smoke was released by Paramount back in 1978,” said Bushell. “We cannot think of a better partner to premiere Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie on streaming. They Keep Smokin'!”
The documentary is produced by Bushell and Robbi Chong, with executive producers John Paul DeJoria, Gary Haseley, Cleo Segura Sherrel, and Christian Selleron. For fans of classic comedy and road-trip antics, the documentary promises to be a hilarious, heartfelt homage to a duo that defined a generation.
The film will stream exclusively on the Paramount+ Premium plan starting April 20, giving audiences a perfect reason to grab the snacks, settle in, and revisit the stoner comedy legends that made them famous.
