‘The Ms. Pat Show’ Renewed for Season 6: BET Comedy Heads to Paramount+ and Refuses to Behave

In a TV landscape where comedies often play it safe, The Ms. Pat Show just keeps doing the exact opposite and now it’s been rewarded with a Season 6 renewal. BET and Paramount+ have officially confirmed that the multi-Emmy-nominated series will return, with a new streaming home that could finally give this unapologetically raw sitcom the wider audience it’s been quietly demanding.

Since its 2021 debut, The Ms. Pat Show, led by creator and star Patricia Williams-Lee, has carved out a reputation as one of the boldest comedies on television. “Bold” here meaning it tackles topics most sitcoms wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole, then somehow still lands the joke. The renewal for Season 6 signals that audiences (and executives) aren’t just okay with that, they want more.

The move to Paramount Global’s streaming platform marks a significant shift. Beginning in June, BET content will live on Paramount+, placing The Ms. Pat Show in front of a global subscriber base nearing 80 million. Translation: the show that once flew slightly under the radar is about to get a much bigger spotlight and possibly a whole new wave of fans who aren’t ready for what they’re about to watch.

Inspired by Williams-Lee’s memoir Rabbit, the series follows a former drug dealer turned suburban mom navigating family life with zero filter and even less patience. Over five seasons, it’s built a loyal fanbase by refusing to water itself down, blending sharp humor with commentary on everything from systemic inequality to generational trauma. It’s not always comfortable viewing but that’s kind of the point.

Behind the scenes, the show boasts serious creative backing, including co-creator Jordan E. Cooper and executive producers like Lee Daniels and Brian Grazer. That pedigree shows in a series that somehow balances sitcom structure with something far messier and far more real.

And let’s not ignore the accolades. With multiple Emmy nominations, including recognition for director Mary Lou Belli, the industry has clearly taken notice. It only took a few decades for a sitcom this unfiltered to get that kind of respect.

Season 6 doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but the message is clear: The Ms. Pat Show isn’t going anywhere. If anything, it’s leveling up. And if the past five seasons are any indication, expect more uncomfortable laughs, brutally honest storytelling, and moments that will have you wondering how this made it to air, in the best way possible.
