If you thought your streaming queue was finally under control, I have some unfortunate news for your social life. The television gods have been busy, and the latest casting reshuffle proves that Hollywood is still playing a very expensive game of musical chairs. From high-stakes espionage to the inevitable expansion of the Yellowstone universe, here is the latest intel from the TV Cave on who is moving into your living room this season.
Julianna Margulies Enters the Wasteland
Julianna Margulies has officially signed on for Season 3 of Hulu’s Paradise. While details on her recurring role are currently under lock and key, we know she joins a world that literally just imploded.
Season 2 wrapped with Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) and Teri (Enuka Okuma) barely escaping their bunker before it turned into a very expensive crater. With Julianne Nicholson’s Sinatra out of the picture, there is a massive power vacuum in the ruins of Colorado.
Joe Buck Takes on "ESPN Jeopardy!"
In news that will surely delight sports fans and confuse everyone else, Monday Night Football’s Joe Buck is the new host of ESPN Jeopardy!. Disney+ and Hulu are calling this the "ultimate matchup" between sports trivia and the legendary quiz format. We just hope Buck realizes he can't give a play-by-play of a contestant’s internal struggle while they try to remember who won the 1974 Heptagonal Championships. The prize pool is a cool $500,000, so expect the competition to be significantly more intense than a preseason game.
The Yellowstone Expansion Continues (Obviously)
Because Taylor Sheridan seemingly never sleeps, the Yellowstone spin-off Dutton Ranch is ready to gallop onto Paramount+ on May 15. The latest addition to the frontier is country singer Morgan Wade, who joins the cast as Carol, a bartender who "sees all." It’s a classic trope: the person pouring the whiskey knows where all the bodies are buried. Given the Dutton track record, she’s going to need a lot of whiskey and even more secrets.
Espionage and Gritty Dramas: The Best of the Rest
Apple TV is looking to corner the market on "shows that make you look over your shoulder" with Safe Houses. Inspired by Dan Fesperman’s novel, the series has tapped David Lyons and Tobias Menzies to star alongside Jennifer Connelly and Ana de Armas. Menzies is set to play Connelly’s husband, while Lyons takes on the role of a CIA special ops agent. It’s prestige TV at its most paranoid, and we are here for it.
Meanwhile, over at FX, The Lowdown has added Austin Amelio (The Walking Dead) to a Season 2 roster that already includes heavy hitters like Tommy Lee Jones and Betty Gilpin. And for those who prefer their drama with a side of Southern gothic, Hulu’s Southern Bastards pilot just added Jonathan Tucker and Ethan Suplee.
The Recap
Whether you’re looking for a sports-trivia fix or a deep dive into ranching society, the upcoming TV slate is packed with enough star power to keep the lights on through 2026. There’s no shortage of "did they really cast them?" moments to discuss.
