The TV Cave’s Daily TV Guide: What to Watch on August 9

Sunday TV is giving us dragons, Housewives, zombies, reality TV scheming, and Bear Grylls dragging The Chosen cast into the wilderness. In other words, there is absolutely no reason to complain that there is nothing to watch tonight.

The biggest event on the August 9 TV schedule is easily the House of the Dragon Season 3 finale on HBO, especially with Tumbleton entering the conversation. But there is plenty happening before Westeros takes over the night. Lioness continues its third season on Paramount+, Big Brother crowns another Head of Household, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta begins its three-part Season 17 reunion.

And because apparently one group of Housewives isn't enough for a Sunday night, The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th also premieres with a cast that looks specifically assembled to test how much drama one vacation can withstand.

8:00 PM	Big Brother	CBS	Power shifts once again as a new Head of Household takes control of the game and puts three houseguests on the block. And yes, everyone will suddenly remember why they have always been the HOH's best friend.

8:00 PM	The Real Housewives of Atlanta	Bravo	Season 17 Reunion, Part 1 of 3: The peaches reunite to revisit the season's biggest moments, and the conversations aren't limited to what viewers saw on television. The women are also confronting drama that unfolded when the cameras weren't rolling. Whew, three parts. Bravo said clear your Sundays.
9:00 PM	Decades in Sports	CNN	The series heads into the 1980s, when Cold War tensions were reflected in some of the decade's biggest sports rivalries. Everett vs. Navratilova and Bird vs. Magic take center stage while Wayne Gretzky begins dominating the NHL.
9:00 PM	House of the Dragon	HBO	Season 3 Finale: We aren't spoiling this one. All we're saying is that you probably don't want to be anywhere near Tumbleton this week. Considering this is House of the Dragon, that should be warning enough.
9:00 PM	The Librarians: The Next Chapter	TNT	A string of missing bankers brings the Librarians to London, where they uncover a disturbing new version of Peter Pan who is recruiting a fresh generation of Lost Boys. Childhood officially ruined.
9:00 PM	The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th	Bravo	Season 5 Premiere: Vicki Gunvalson, Luann de Lesseps, Porsha Williams, Teresa Giudice, Kyle Richards, Gizelle Bryant and Lisa Barlow head off together for the franchise's latest girls' trip. That cast list alone should tell you peace and quiet were never part of the itinerary.
9:00 PM	The Walking Dead: Dead City	AMC	Maggie, Negan and their growing community find themselves dealing with an unexpected influx of survivors. More people can mean more strength, but this is The Walking Dead. More people can also mean approximately 500 new problems.
9:00 PM	The Westies	MGM+	Roarke turns to Ruby Stein for a dangerous loan to finance a cocaine deal with a wealthy downtown hotshot, but the plan quickly falls apart. Meanwhile, Bridget and the IRA cell make their move on Colonel Markham.
11:30 PM	President Curtis	Adult Swim	Curtis receives an invitation to his ex-wife's inauguration gala, while Banks and O'Doyle get the workplace nightmare nobody asked for: a job evaluation inside a fully immersive offsite facility.

Was there really another choice?

House of the Dragon closes out Season 3 tonight, and after everything this season has put its characters — and viewers — through, all eyes are on Tumbleton. We won't get into spoilers here, but this is the episode to watch live if you don't want your timeline making the decision for you.

Still, Sunday's schedule has some very strong alternatives. Lioness is there for viewers who want espionage with their morning coffee, while Bravo basically owns the evening with the RHOA reunion and the return of Ultimate Girls Trip. And putting Vicki, Luann, Porsha, Teresa, Kyle, Gizelle and Lisa on the same trip? Somebody at Bravo clearly woke up and chose television.
