The New Scary Movie Gets Paramount+ Streaming Date

The Wayans Brothers are bringing the jokes home. Paramount+ has announced that the new Scary Movie will begin streaming exclusively on the service September 3, giving fans another chance to watch the latest installment of the beloved horror parody franchise from their couches.

The sixth Scary Movie arrives more than 13 years after Scary Movie 5 and 26 years after the original movie introduced audiences to a franchise that made turning horror movie clichés into comedy look ridiculously easy.

The Wayans Are Back!

One of the biggest reasons longtime fans have been waiting for this installment is the return of Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans as Shorty and Ray Wilkins. Anna Faris and Regina Hall are also back as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks, bringing some very familiar faces back into the franchise.

The new movie also features returning favorites Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri and Chris Elliott, alongside newcomers including Kenan Thompson, Kim Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr., Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Sydney Park and more. And considering the franchise's history, we're guessing nobody involved is going to be taking horror movie rules particularly seriously.

No Horror Movie Trope Is Safe

The new Scary Movie takes aim at just about everything Hollywood has been doing with the horror genre lately, including reboots, remakes, sequels, prequels, spin-offs, origin stories and those movies that insist they're delivering the "final chapter" before inevitably announcing another sequel.

The returning characters once again find themselves in the killer's crosshairs, giving the movie plenty of opportunities to send up the horror movies audiences have been watching for years. Basically, if you've seen it in a scary movie, there's a decent chance this franchise has a joke waiting for it. The movie has already made a major impression at the box office, earning more than $230 million worldwide during its theatrical run earlier this year.

When Can You Watch Scary Movie?

Scary Movie begins streaming September 3 exclusively on Paramount+. The movie joins the complete Scary Movie franchise on the service, along with other comedy favorites including The Naked Gun, Airplane!, Tropic Thunder and Zoolander.
