Andrew Yancy may have survived his first trip through the bizarre underbelly of Florida, but apparently he learned absolutely nothing. Apple TV has announced that Bad Monkey will return for Season 2 on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, and Vince Vaughn's gloriously unbothered detective is getting another case that involves murder, criminals, questionable characters and enough Florida weirdness to keep things interesting.
The streamer also released first-look images from the new season, which will once again feature Vaughn as Yancy and bring back Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence and John Ortiz. This time, however, the story is completely new, giving the series another opportunity to throw Yancy into a situation that seems manageable at first and then spirals into something considerably more complicated.
Yancy Just Wants His Badge Back. Is That Too Much to Ask?
The new season begins after Yancy witnesses the murder of a Florida fixer, putting him directly in the middle of another investigation. An ambitious state attorney sees an opportunity and teams Yancy with a straight-laced forensic accountant, creating a detective duo that sounds about as naturally compatible as pineapple and a steakhouse.
Yancy has a very specific reason for taking the case seriously: he wants his detective's badge back. That goal sends him into a turf war involving rival criminal organizations, but solving the murder is only one problem on his growing list. Before long, Yancy is dealing with an erudite mob boss, the mob boss's thoroughly unhinged son and a tough young woman who suddenly needs his protection. So much for easing back into the job.
Because Yancy's Personal Life Needed More Problems
If Yancy thought the murder investigation would be enough to keep him occupied, the universe clearly had other plans. Season 2 will also dig further into his relationship with his aging father and the unresolved romantic tension between Yancy and Dr. Rosa Campesino, played by Natalie Martinez.
Rosa isn't exactly sitting around waiting for Yancy to figure out his feelings, either. She launches her own investigation after encountering a mysterious rash, giving the season another storyline that could intersect with the increasingly strange world surrounding Yancy.
Then there is the animal relocation specialist, whose business poses a threat to the local environment. Add that to a criminal turf war and a murder investigation, and Yancy has somehow found himself with an entire Florida-sized list of problems before breakfast.
John Malkovich Is Joining the Fun
Season 2 is keeping several familiar faces while adding some very recognizable new talent. Vaughn, Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence and John Ortiz return, while John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski and Zavior Phillips join the main cast.
The guest cast is just as impressive, with Nate Jackson, Sofia Boutella, Brent Morin, Joey Avery, Dax Shepard, Sam Jaeger, Margarita Levieva, Peter Billingsley and June Diane Raphael set to appear throughout the season. With that many new personalities entering Yancy's orbit, we are already suspicious of pretty much everybody.
That may actually be the safest approach. In the world of Bad Monkey, the person who looks perfectly normal for five minutes is probably hiding something spectacularly questionable.
Season 2 Is Telling a Brand-New Story
One of the most interesting things about the new season is that viewers aren't simply getting another chapter adapted directly from the first story. Season 2 is built around an all-new original storyline, while still maintaining the offbeat crime comedy tone that made the series stand out.
The series comes from creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence, the award-winning storyteller behind shows including Ted Lasso and Scrubs, and is based on the world created by Carl Hiaasen, whose novel Bad Monkey became a New York Times bestseller and developed a devoted following.
That combination gives the show plenty of room to continue doing what it does best: putting a crime story in a very Florida setting and surrounding the investigation with characters who seem like they wandered in from three completely different television shows.
When Does Bad Monkey Season 2 Premiere?
Apple TV will premiere Bad Monkey Season 2 on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, with the first episode available globally that day. New episodes will then arrive every Wednesday, taking viewers through the season finale on February 3, 2027.
Season 1 is already streaming on Apple TV, so anyone who somehow missed Yancy's first adventure has plenty of time to catch up before the new case begins. The second season will consist of 10 episodes, giving viewers several weeks of murder investigations, Florida oddballs and Vince Vaughn doing what Vince Vaughn does best.
The return also gives Bad Monkey a chance to expand beyond its original story without losing the personality that made Season 1 such a distinctive watch. With Yancy chasing a badge, a killer and possibly his next terrible decision, Season 2 appears ready to deliver another round of crime, comedy and characters you absolutely should not trust.
Mark December 2 on the calendar, because Andrew Yancy is back on the case. Whether he actually gets his badge back is another question, but based on everything coming his way, we're pretty sure he is going to earn at least a few more headaches.
