The Machine Lives: Why Netflix Renewed ‘Free Bert’ for Season 2 (And Why Your Neighbors Are Worried)

Three people sit on a brown couch in an office setting. The woman smiles, the man and young girl are serious. The man wears a black cap and hoodie.

Put on your favorite stained party shirt and crack a lukewarm beverage, because the inevitable has happened. Netflix just officially greenlit Free Bert Season 2, proving once again that the algorithm has a very specific, very loud sense of humor. Despite the collective sigh from Beverly Hills HOA boards everywhere, Bert Kreischer’s fictionalized descent into high-society suburbia isn't going anywhere.

Since its debut on January 22, 2026, Free Bert has been a fixture in the Netflix Global Top 10. It seems the world just can’t get enough of a man trying and spectacularly failing to trade his “Shirtless Party Legend” persona for a "Prestigious Private School Dad" vibe. The renewal, confirmed on March 16, 2026, ensures we’ll get another round of the Machine attempting to navigate the treacherous waters of elite California parenting.

What We Know About the Free Bert Season 2 Cast and Crew

The gang is all heading back to Atlanta, Georgia to film, which is a bit ironic for a show set in the 90210, but that’s the magic of tax credits. Bert Kreischer is back as his chaotic self, joined by the long-suffering and hilarious Arden Myrin as LeeAnn. Rounding out the family unit are Ava Ryan (Georgia) and Lilou Lang (Ila), who manage to provide the grounded heart that keeps this show from floating away on a cloud of laughter and light beer.

Showrunners Jarrad Paul and Andy Mogel are returning to steer the ship. Their knack for finding the sweet spot between cringe-comedy and genuine family dynamics is what makes the show more than just a 22-minute stand-up bit.

What to Expect in the New Season

While Netflix is keeping specific plot points under lock and key, the trajectory is clear. Season 1 left us with Bert halfway integrated into his new life, but Season 2 will likely see the honeymoon phase end. Expect more clashes with the Beverly Hills elite, more elaborate attempts at domesticity that backfire, and undoubtedly, more moments where the shirt inevitably comes off at a funeral or a school bake sale.

Production is slated to begin soon, with a projected 2027 premiere date. It’s a bit of a wait, but fans can get their fix during the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke festival this May, where Bert is set to host several live events.

Free Bert succeeds because it leans into the absurdity of its premise. It’s loud, it’s messy, and it’s surprisingly relatable for anyone who’s ever felt like the odd one out in a room full of "refined" adults. Whether you're here for the guest star cameos or the genuine chemistry between the leads, this renewal is a win for anyone who likes their comedy with a side of chaos.
