The cinematic world is mourning the loss of a true titan as news confirms that Robert Duvall died peacefully on Sunday February 15 2026. The Academy Award winning actor was 95 years old at the time of his passing. Known for a career that spanned more than sixty years and defined multiple generations of American film history Duvall died at his home on his horse farm in The Plains Virginia. His wife Luciana Pedraza shared the news the following morning noting that he was surrounded by family and comfort during his final hours.

Beyond the big screen he left a lasting impact on television history with his portrayal of Augustus McCrae in the 1989 miniseries Lonesome Dove.
