Reacher Season 4 Review: Alan Ritchson Was Born to Play Jack Reacher

Reacher Season 4 is based on Lee Child's 13th book, Gone Tomorrow, and after watching the first few episodes, I can already say this season is just as amazing as the previous three. Alan Ritchson was born for this role!

The story starts out in Philadelphia, where Reacher grabs a Philly cheesesteak before boarding a train. He's clearly looking for somebody, and eventually he finds his target. Things take a turn for the worse, which sets up the season in a crazy way.

That's just one of the many reasons I love Reacher. I jumped into this series without having read any of the source material, so I'm experiencing these stories completely blind. Alan Ritchson brings so much life to this character, and even within the first few episodes, I love the way he handles conversations with law enforcement. Episode 1 has a really good back-and-forth between Reacher and the cops that had me laughing the entire time. It's his delivery that gets me. He can say something completely serious and somehow make it hilarious.

This story is different from Season 3. It's more anthology-style, and of course, Reacher finds himself right in the middle of another situation. And yes, it's going to get dangerous. Honestly, this isn't the story I would have expected going into Season 4, but again, I haven't read the source material, and I actually like going into this series blind. I don't want to know what's coming. I want to experience the twists and turns right along with Reacher.

Reacher always seems to find himself picking up strays and making new cop buddies, and this season isn't any different. We get introduced to Detective Tamara Green, played by Sydelle Noel, and she and Reacher have some amazing chemistry together. We also meet Detective Shaun Docherty, played by Kevin Corrigan, who is Green's partner and definitely isn't too hot on Reacher.

Then there's Jacob Merrick, played by Christopher Marquette, a small-town cop who has a personal connection to everything happening this season. I like the way these characters are being introduced because they don't just feel like people thrown into the story. They all have their own reasons for being involved, and Reacher once again finds himself surrounded by people who need his help.

And of course, we have the fights! The fight choreography is amazing as usual. I mean, we see Reacher kill people in some very unique ways this season. But what's really interesting is that the people he's fighting seem to be on another level. They actually give him a run for his money, which is something I always enjoy seeing. Reacher is obviously a beast, but it's more entertaining when he has to work for the win.

All in all, Reacher Season 4 is another thrill ride. After three seasons, the formula still works, and Alan Ritchson continues to make this character his own. This season has mystery, action, some great humor, and enough government nonsense to make me hate the government a little bit more!

I came into Reacher without reading the books, and honestly, I'm glad I did. I'm enjoying the ride without knowing what's coming next.
