‘P-Valley’ to End With Season 3 as STARZ Sets December Premiere

It's almost time for one last dance at The Pynk.

STARZ has announced that P-Valley will return for its long-awaited third season on Friday, December 4, with the first two episodes and there's a bittersweet addition to the news. Season 3 will officially be the groundbreaking drama's final season.

Creator and showrunner Katori Hall is bringing the series to an end on her own terms, closing a journey that began long before P-Valley premiered on television in 2020. Hall first began writing the story that eventually became the stage play Pussy Valley in 2009, inspired by research and conversations with more than 40 dancers.

“The rarest honor a showrunner can have in today's industry is to end a series on her own terms,” Hall wrote in a letter to fans accompanying the announcement. Hall added that she chose to say goodbye with “grace, grit and glitter,” promising the Pynk Posse a farewell worthy of the characters and community that have made the series such a distinctive part of television.

The end isn't coming quietly, either. STARZ also released the first teaser for Season 3, bringing viewers back to Chucalissa as the newly opened Promised Land Casino threatens to change the balance of power throughout the Mississippi Delta. More money is pouring into town, but naturally, that also means more trouble for the people we've been following since Season 1.

At The Pynk, Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan) has ambitions of expanding her empire, while Roulette (Gail Bean) begins building an empire of her own by breaking one of the club's cardinal rules. Lil' Murda (J. Alphonse Nicholson) finds his future threatened by his gang connections, while Keyshawn (Shannon Thornton) continues fighting for freedom.

The teaser also features a new Lil' Murda track, “Homegrown,” featuring FendiDaRappa, which will be released on streaming platforms at a later date. Season 3 will consist of nine episodes. Hall directs both installments of the December 4 two-episode premiere, with subsequent episodes arriving weekly on Fridays through STARZ's streaming and on-demand platforms.

Brandee Evans also returns as Mercedes, alongside Harriett D. Foy as Mayor Woodbine, Dan J. Johnson as Corbin, Psalms Salazar as Whisper, Morocco Omari as Big L, Dominic DeVore as Duffy, Jordan M. Cox as Derrick, Thomas Q. Jones as Mane, Bertram Williams Jr. as Woddy, Mea Wilkerson as Haiku and Loretta Devine as Ernestine.

While three seasons may feel like a relatively short run for a series with such a passionate audience, P-Valley is going out as one of STARZ's strongest current originals. According to the network, Season 2 averaged 11.6 million multiplatform viewers, while the series has accumulated more than 236 million hours watched since its 2020 debut.

STARZ President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby praised the series for its “courageously bold, powerfully provocative, and deeply inclusive storytelling,” while describing the upcoming season as a final chapter that remains true to the boundary-pushing identity the show established from the beginning.

For fans, knowing this is the end will undoubtedly make the lengthy wait for Season 3 feel a little more bittersweet. But there's also something reassuring about Hall getting the opportunity to decide when the curtain comes down and craft an actual ending for these characters.
