Avatar: Seven Havens Trailer Introduces Pavi, a New Avatar the World Fears

The Avatar is back, but this time, the world isn't exactly celebrating.

Paramount+ has released the official trailer for Avatar: Seven Havens, the next chapter in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe from original co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The new animated series introduces Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she is the Avatar following Korra, although inheriting the title comes with a much different reception than we've seen before.

Set after a devastating cataclysm shattered the world, Seven Havens finds civilization surviving within its remaining strongholds. Instead of being viewed as humanity's potential savior, Pavi learns that people believe the new Avatar could be its destroyer.

That immediately gives Seven Havens an intriguing way to begin a new era of the franchise. Aang had to accept the enormous responsibility of being the Avatar, while Korra entered her story already confident in who she was and what she could do. Pavi is stepping into the role while living in a world that appears to question whether the Avatar should even be trusted.

Making matters more complicated, Pavi is being hunted by both human and spirit enemies. She eventually joins forces with her long-lost twin sister, Nisha, as the two attempt to uncover the truth about their origins and prevent the Seven Havens from falling.

Saheli Khan leads the voice cast as Pavi, with Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and longtime Avatar franchise voice actor Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

DiMartino and Konietzko serve as co-creators and executive producers, bringing the franchise's original creative voices back for its next major animated story. Ethan Spaulding also executive produces, with Sehaj Sethi serving as co-executive producer. The series comes from Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios.

Fans won't have to wait long to see how Pavi's story begins. Avatar: Seven Havens Book 1 premieres globally on Paramount+ on Friday, October 9, with the first three episodes. Episodes 4-6 arrive October 16, followed by episodes 7-9 on October 23.

The remaining four episodes of the 13-episode first book will be released October 30.

And this is only the beginning. Paramount+ says details about Book 2 will be announced at a later date.

After Aang and Korra, Seven Havens has a difficult act to follow. But introducing an Avatar who enters a world that fears what she represents rather than looking to her for salvation gives Pavi a very different starting point and the first trailer suggests the franchise isn't interested in simply repeating what came before.
