The next chapter of the Outlander universe is almost here, and STARZ is giving fans a first look at what’s coming. The network has released the official trailer and key art for Season 2 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, and it looks like the prequel is about to get even more intense.
Season 2 premieres Friday, September 18, with new episodes streaming weekly on Fridays exclusively on STARZ. And thankfully for Outlander fans, there won’t be another long “droughtlander” standing between viewers and the next installment of this time-traveling saga.
The new season takes viewers back to 18th-century Scotland as the Jacobite Rising threatens to tear families, clans and relationships apart. The Scottish Highlands are divided, forcing people to choose where their loyalties lie while battles and political conflicts put everyone in danger.
For Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, the uprising creates new challenges as their families become caught up in the conflict. Brian and his cousin Murtagh return to Castle Leathers, where they are expected to fight alongside Brian’s father, Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat. Meanwhile, Ellen finds herself caught between her brothers Colum and Dougal as they disagree over how Clan MacKenzie should respond.
The story also continues for Henry and Julia Beauchamp, Claire’s parents. After finally finding one another following their unexpected journey through time, the couple is once again separated when their plans to return to their own time go terribly wrong. Henry must find a way back to Julia while also dealing with his own mental health struggles, while Julia is forced to confront Lord Lovat.
Season 1 introduced fans to the complicated love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents, revealing how their lives became intertwined in ways that would ultimately have an impact on the Outlander story fans already know.
Season 2 stars Jeremy Irvine, Hermione Corfield, Jamie Roy, Harriet Slater, Tony Curran, Séamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford, Rory Alexander and Conor MacNeill.
With war brewing, loyalties shifting and another separation threatening these couples, Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 looks ready to bring plenty of emotion and drama when it returns September 18.
Season 1 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is currently available to stream exclusively on STARZ.
