Pack your bags and polish your kilts, Sassenachs, because Starz just dropped a massive gift to celebrate World Outlander Day. The network officially released the highly anticipated Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 teaser trailer, complete with a confirmed premiere date. Mark your calendars for Friday, September 18, 2026, because the time-traveling romantic melodrama is officially gearing up to take over your weekend streaming schedules yet again.
As a prequel to the sprawling Jamie and Claire epic, Blood of My Blood had plenty of heavy lifting to do in its freshman run. Thankfully, the newly released footage proves the sophomore season is doubling down on the dual-timeline angst we have all come to tolerate and secretly crave.
Separation Anxiety Across the Centuries
If you thought Jamie and Claire had it rough, the Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 teaser is here to remind you that relationship drama is entirely genetic. The one-minute preview waste no time addressing the cliffhangers that left viewers shouting at their television screens last season.
Over in the 20th-century timeline, we find a thoroughly distraught Julia Beauchamp (Hermione Corfield) stranded with a baby Claire. Yes, that Claire. Thanks to the stubborn mechanics of the Craigh na Dun standing stones, Julia is entirely separated from Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine). The trailer gives us a glimpse of Henry's worsening mental state as he frantically tries to find his way back to his family. It is classic Outlander protocol: if a couple is happy for more than five consecutive minutes, someone must be immediately cast across the space-time continuum.
Meanwhile, back in the 1700s, things are not looking any better for Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater). Their forbidden romance is officially colliding with historical reality. The 1715 Jacobite Rising is erupting, and the teaser features ominous shots of fiery crosses being lit across the Scottish Highlands. Naturally, their plans for a romantic escape are being thoroughly derailed by impending warfare and stubborn clan loyalties. Because nothing ruins a elopement quite like a national rebellion.
Behind the Scenes of the Prequel
Filmed on location in Scotland, production on the second season wrapped up earlier this year in February. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts is back at the helm, alongside original franchise executive producers Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis. They clearly know their audience, ensuring the production values, sweeping landscapes, and intense longing remain perfectly intact.
When September 18 arrives, episodes will drop weekly on Fridays via Starz and the Starz app. For a franchise that has been running for over a decade, this prequel is doing an admirable job of keeping the formula fresh, even if the relentless cycle of historical conflict and romantic yearning feels entirely familiar.
